RUMOR: The Who: Rock Band in Development Written Tuesday, October 27, 2009 by James Parkin In a recent conversation, Roger Daltrey, lead singer for The Who, gave the following response when The Beatles: Rock Band was brought up: Q:The Beatles are the latest band to be featured in a video game, “The Beatles: Rock Band.” A:The game, yeah, yeah, they’re going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned. (The idea) is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music. So, either Mr. Daltrey's blowing smoke, or The Who: Rock Band could actually be in the works. What do you think? Would you buy/play a version of Rock Band based around the journey of The Who? | |

![]() | Comment #6 by Failboatz Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:37:52 PM Love the Who, but they really shouldnt milk this like GH does :( |
![]() | Comment #7 by PakoRawr Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:37:56 PM I'm not into the rockband or gh games... But The Who Rock :] "They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music." Priceless? |
![]() | Comment #8 by sixgun91 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:38:00 PM interseted, but theyve already released around 20 dlc songs and i have them all already!! i dont know how they could get away with this unless its simply a track pack like ac/dc |
![]() | Comment #9 by Jimbob131190 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:38:22 PM Every year not yeah ;D |
![]() | Comment #10 by edso007 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:38:26 PM Rock Band should not become the next Guitar Hero, they should work on RB3 and continue their DLC dominance |
![]() | Comment #11 by hyrulehero98 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:38:44 PM OMG 100 percent yes The WHO rocks!!!!!! |
![]() | Comment #12 by Son of Kyuss Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:40:34 PM I would definitely buy The Who: Rock Band as they're one of my favourite bands of all time. |
![]() | Comment #13 by Creech Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:40:57 PM I would have to buy bigger speakers to be able to play this one...but I would make the sacrifice! |
![]() | Comment #14 by L0cke89 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:41:07 PM The Beatles Rock Band was great, but The Who just arn't up there. Great band, but you can't top the Beatles. And you also couldn't do the same visual effects. Pls don't do it. |
![]() | Comment #15 by bbqduck22 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:42:14 PM Who cares about the Who. Give me some Queen. |
![]() | Comment #16 by mmartynn Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:43:55 PM blowing smoke but due to jelousy, i reckon the who will pay harmonix to make one. |
![]() | Comment #17 by ZOMBINOX Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:45:42 PM Where's U2 Rockband or at least some DLC. U2 has pleanty of great music though to fill a whole game.... |
![]() | Comment #18 by EvilWays Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:48:31 PM How about Iron Butterfly: Rock Band? The backgrounds would be all psychedelic for that complete acid trip. :D |
![]() | Comment #19 by myfriedme Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:52:29 PM how about Rock Band 3? please harmonix, don't turn into activision!! |
![]() | Comment #20 by liam892008 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:52:41 PM How about Rock Band 3? Y'know, the normal one. |
![]() | Comment #21 by TheUltimAteFace Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 03:57:28 PM i liked when they made rockband 1 and two cause it got me interested in a bunch of bands not just 1... just make a rockband 3 |
![]() | Comment #22 by Santaslave Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:02:54 PM DLC! WHY a full game?! Make it a damn DLC |
![]() | Comment #23 by silentbob0 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:05:42 PM The Who are awesome no doubt. But yeah, i'd much rather HMX concentrate on RB3, RB2 is starting to look a little bit dated now. |
![]() | Comment #24 by Jordbrett Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:06:43 PM Appetite for destruction damn it! |
![]() | Comment #25 by Greg Jr94 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:06:51 PM YES. This would be so flippin awesome. |
![]() | Comment #26 by l.maciver Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:12:58 PM error, good music, too many games for music |
![]() | Comment #27 by ExecutiveN00B Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:16:23 PM My reckoning is he is confusing a track pack with a full game. I don't actually want a Rock Band 3, I can't think of anything they could add or tracks that aren't dlc |
![]() | Comment #28 by blackout529 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:16:49 PM Hahaha! Now all you guys can finally conclude that Rock Band is going down the same path as Guitar Hero! Wooo! |
![]() | Comment #29 by Drewbles Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:23:51 PM No more just one band games, its boring. Your only eva gonna get the fans of that particular band who own a console, who are interested in playing there music to buy it. Just make DLC, either that or make it exportable like the ACDC. I own the beatles game and to be honest, it bores me to death, ive given up playing it. i might use the tracks if you can export to RB3 tho. |
![]() | Comment #30 by Coadster1 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:26:17 PM I hope Rock Band doesn't turn into what Guitar Hero has. I mean, seriously, don't release a game like every month. |
![]() | Comment #31 by Der Nacho Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:27:59 PM 2007 - Rock Band 2008 - Rock Band 2 2009 - Beatles Rock Band, Lego Rock Band, And Unplugged And in 2010 They're saying Rock Band 3. And maybe The Who Rock Band. I doubt it'll come out next year with 3. I'm saying a final release of 2011. It looks like they are making the main games every other year with a band one in between. Or at least it looks like that'll happen. Neversoft has released in the last two years more Guitar Hero titles than Harmonix has with Rock Band has ever released. GH 3, GH Aerosmith, GH World Tour, GH Metallica, GH Smash Hits, GH 5, GH Van Halen. And I'm gonna throw in Band Hero too. That's 9 games since October 2007. |
![]() | Comment #32 by WiredHEaDsHoT Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:32:11 PM ok lets just get on with RB:3 HMX and stop trying to be like guitar hero |
![]() | Comment #33 by Greenmember Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:36:18 PM I love the idea, but first Harmonix please slow down. I want to see an amazing Rock Band 3 is what I want. Rock Band 2 is one of my favorite games, add a better setlist (if that's possible) and change it up a bit, add that harmonix magic then that'd be great. Then STOP. Keep going with DLC and maybe band games, but work on Rock Band 3 first. I'd rather see Harmonix though, Neversoft can barely make a game these days. GH Van Halen isn't even that much of a game they're just milking the hell out of it and destroying the franchise. This is going to become DDR, same with DJ hero if that does good. |
![]() | Comment #34 by SgtGomerPile Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:44:06 PM Man this would be so awesome! I only hope they go from the beginning to the Who Are You Album. I'd hate to see the band with out Keith Moon or John Entwistle. |
![]() | Comment #35 by ispoody 1243 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:45:57 PM omg omg!! so not gonna buy it! kinda getting a bit sick of all this. so many music games are coming out i used to be excited about these, gh5 will more than likely be my last game |
![]() | Comment #36 by The Betrayer142 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:48:25 PM okay people, seriously, stop complaining about how many of these music games come out every year. YES, Guitar Hero has milked the crap out of the franchise, and YES, Rock Band is starting to show signs of the game. If you don't want to spend money on the new games, DON'T BUY THEM or just RENT them. I can FULLY UNDERSTAND that it could easily be put into a DLC, but its the producers decision, and they want to make a disc, so deal with it. Besides, more achievements for all you achievement junkies out there. |
![]() | Comment #37 by smacd Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:53:56 PM hm. so now we're up to 4 bands claiming to have their own "Rock Band" coming, and Harmonix has only stated they have one band-themed game and RB3 in the works for 2010. Out of the 4 bands (The Who, Green Day, Queen, and Pearl Jam) claiming a Rock Band devoted to them is coming, The Who is definitely the choice I'd want. But even that isn't as interesting as a Rock Band Rush would be. Chances are, it'll really be another DLC pack or maybe a track pack. A Beatles-like game really only has a couple bands worth doing it for, and I dont think The Who is one of them. |
![]() | Comment #38 by General Boredom Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 04:58:35 PM I'd rather see U2: Rock Band. |
![]() | Comment #39 by Peperonici Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:03:12 PM Not only one band -.- But if there would be a rock band led zeppelin....... oh man^^ That would be so great.... btw wasnt a gh muse to be in developmwnt? b2t The who would be great, it's not like The Beatles every song was just easy, but they are really cool..... and the who have some pretty cool swongs too, and they're also some hard who songs |
![]() | Comment #40 by silentbob0 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:12:07 PM Everyone wants there own Rock Band game after the awesome job HMX did with TB:RB. The game was made with great effort and care and is far better than the half-assed cash ins Activision have been coming up with. So i'm not surprised that so many big bands want there own RB game. |
![]() | Comment #41 by litepink Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:12:55 PM Queen: yes, Who: no. My guess though is that the Queen game was actually the 10 pack, and something similar for The Who. I think these musicians just sign off on stuff and wait for their checks and don't know what they are talking about. |
![]() | Comment #42 by L1E Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:19:20 PM Well, I wouldn't mind this too much, since this would be the only Rock Band coming out next year. And, it is an annual franchise. So, at least one Rock Band game is expected in 2010, just like all other AAA titles' sequels. But, if they start announcing ore, then I will lose my faith in Harmonix. It's fine now because they'd be continuing the annually released franchise, but if it becomes semi-annual, quarterly, or monthly, like the Guitar Hero franchise (that may be a hyperbole), then I will stop buying music games altogether. |
![]() | Comment #43 by L1E Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:20:09 PM Shucks! I meant more, not ore. |
![]() | Comment #44 by Panda Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:20:26 PM I'd love this but I doubt it would match Beatles. They just weren't the same. |
![]() | Comment #45 by CrampOfSuburbia Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:21:18 PM #1 You have 75785 Gamerscore. Chances are you're not into music. So Screw you. |
![]() | Comment #46 by exe67 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:21:31 PM This makes me sick. These games are becoming a dime a dozen. |
![]() | Comment #47 by Emfulz Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:22:45 PM Why couldn't they just make Rock Band 1 and just release extra songs on disks? I see no use in having multiple Rock Bands with other instruments... Activision and Harmonix can kiss my ass, for music games that is. |
![]() | Comment #48 by TheFragileArmy Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:24:38 PM If it is made with the time and effort that The Beatles: RB was made, I say bring it on. Anything less though is just a no. |
![]() | Comment #49 by Jamie 5Star Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:34:14 PM The Who have 11 albums and some of them are amazing so i can understand the idea behind an entire game like beatles over a little DLC, to say their not popular is beyond closed minded they basically helped change the face of music in the late 60s early 70s and them aswell as the beatles have millions of fans. there are only a few bands left that deserve a full game like them ie rolling stones, queen, hell i'd even get beach boys RB/GH if it was released. another thing is GH/RB won't stop making games aslong as people make music by 2015 and the rumors of next next gen consoles they will proberly be Guitar Hero 21 & Rock Band 8. |
![]() | Comment #50 by Der Nacho Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:35:25 PM @ 45 - Burn... |
![]() | Comment #51 by toonsage Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:38:31 PM =/ i want rockband 3 T.T |
![]() | Comment #52 by Major Pancakes Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:39:56 PM Once upon a time, there was a game called "Guitar Hero" - everyone loved the idea of this new controller and its input. It peaked at Guitar Hero 3. Enter Rock Band, introducing the Drum peripheral (not counting singing due to other games previous) and the band mechanic - people had a new controller to enjoy and a better social experience. Couple that with some innovative DLC methods and people were happy. After that everything went just dull and both Harmonix/Neversoft are churning out frankly just more games that we play using the same methods - effectively these once unique playstyles are about as exciting as a regular gamepad to the veterans. This is a genre that is well past saturation and heading into a sharp decline in sales very soon. Rant over. |
![]() | Comment #53 by CriscoDisco878 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:40:38 PM if they make one a year ill be fine. the who sounds great. i love the who, it'll be a real challenge for everyone unlike beatles. |
![]() | Comment #54 by swickdawg2000@aol.com Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:41:14 PM The Who is my favorite band, but I would much rather see more DLC. The Who Sell Out full album DLC would be orgasmic. |
![]() | Comment #55 by FYC Punker Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:43:36 PM No screw the who. And you cant top the beatles. |
![]() | Comment #56 by nukefarmer Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:47:32 PM Ha rock band being milked |
![]() | Comment #57 by Jamie 5Star Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 05:57:14 PM my friend just mentioned Bon Jovi should be made and proberly will sooner or later. proberly gonna get flamed for this idea but the only way they can make the idea of these games fresh again is to add the DJ Hero deck into a guitar hero game dont forget music went thru the Nu Metal stage of bands with DJs, it could work! |
![]() | Comment #58 by DXnickP Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 06:02:59 PM At this rate, we can expect comething like Guitar Hero/Rock Band : Paramore by 2012 because all the classic bands (AC/DC, Metallica, The Who, etc) will have had their games there will be nothing but mediocre new bands to slap into a game. I haven't really played GH:WT since getting it last year. I'd honestly be happy with them releasing all the band games as DLC. The problem is that with the intense rivalry between GH and RB (which is now luke warm because no-one really cares any more), neither side will give up the 'exclusive' rights to certain bands. Fair play, I bet some of these bands are having a good old pay day out of it, and I can't blame them, but please, DLC or exportable onto the main game. No one wants to swap discs every 10 minutes to play their ultimate set list. |
![]() | Comment #59 by GeneralBoltz18 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 06:25:35 PM @ #31, its 8 games, not 9. |
![]() | Comment #60 by Accel Dance Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 06:27:54 PM Pete Townshend is a shit guitarist |
![]() | Comment #61 by Skozy the great Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 06:30:32 PM If this came out it's probably go on my 'get eventually when xblg subscription runs out' list On the subject of other band having games, one thing I've noticed over all the gh and rb games and dlc is the scarcity of original Guns n Roses songs, sweet child and welcome to the jungle being the only songs that come to mind (disregarding Chinese democracy dlc which I consider as by axl's solo project rather than guns n roses) If they made rockband or guitar hero guns n roses, I would quite literally keel over with excitement, but I would certainly be happy with an 'Appetite' album dlc on rockband :) Then again, if axl was as involved as the remaining beatles were in their game, it's take 14 years to be released, there would be no mention of slash and all the songs would be remixed wi |
![]() | Comment #62 by SuperWoody64 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 06:41:52 PM I already have the song trackpack and pinball wizard. They're more than welcome to sell me more songs but I'm not buying any single band games. The Beatles doesn't count, they're the best band ever. Also an Elvis Presley Lips would be a no brainer. |
![]() | Comment #63 by institutions Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 06:54:39 PM What's the need for a whole game of The Who? Didn't we have a huge greatest hits trackpack? What good songs do they have left that would make the game even worth it? (Notice I said GOOD songs.) I can't think of any bands right now that deserve a whole game dedicated to them other than legends like Zeppelin, or as much as I hate them, The Beatles which was already made. |
![]() | Comment #64 by peterk Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 07:02:06 PM I'd absolutely buy it. No question. |
![]() | Comment #65 by Fakan Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 07:39:53 PM Oh no, [music series] is becoming like [music series]! ANGST!! Shut up. Just shut up. And I will buy this if they make it. God knows my dad will probably front the money just to play it himself. |
![]() | Comment #66 by shotyMCshotster Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 07:47:27 PM seems to be like GH haha |
![]() | Comment #67 by institutions Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 07:47:47 PM Q:The Beatles are the latest band to be featured in a video game, “The Beatles: Rock Band.” Wait, wait. This isn't even a damn question. It's a statement. |
![]() | Comment #68 by NawtyCawty Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 07:49:43 PM Fucking hell at last a decent reason for getting Rock Band. After the Beatles and Blur (neither of which could play any insruments with any skill at all) and assorted rubbish, at last a proper band worthy of the name Rock. Beatles and Queen = overhyped gay shite. The Who = Rock with a capital R. PS: anyone who thinks the Beatles are better than The Who is clearly either insane or 80 years old! |
![]() | Comment #69 by smacd Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 07:56:01 PM @61 there is a reason there isn't any "classic" GnR- it's because Axl got all butthurt over GH3 having Welcome to the Jungle, and also featuring Slash in the game. Axl and Slash are not on very good terms, and he felt that Activision went behind his back and violated their contract when they put Slash into the game. So he has probably been actively blocking any rhythm games from having any more "classic" GnR. |
![]() | Comment #70 by Berzerk Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 07:56:03 PM Make Rock Band 3 and downloadable custom character skin packs for bands. We don't need a a game for each band. |
![]() | Comment #71 by Veles Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:02:01 PM Oh god, Harmonix/MTV/EA better not turn the franchise into shit like Activision did when they got their claws into GH. All they need to do is release track packs and maybe a few character models as DLC. |
![]() | Comment #72 by ikickkittens Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:11:13 PM ok so if they did the who rock band im betting that they would release a keyboard controller for the game becasue the who just has great keyboard and then that would be a big change but some people woul still say that its just like dj hero also if you think about how much your spending on dlc a disk is cheaper if it has 31 songs becasue a song off the marketplace is $2 a piece a game is $60 clearer a disk is better especially if you can export and they give you new achievements |
![]() | Comment #73 by osakamitsu Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:12:17 PM seriously... im tired of all the OLD classic rock bands getting rock band/guitar hero games games... AC/DC... great band... boring to play... van halen... better than AC/DC to play... The Who...big yawn.... Beatles... maybe they are one of the greatest bands ever but I dont want to spend my time playing a beatles game. Metallica was the best one yet but I think its so dumb how you buy guitar hero metallica and get a game thats 2/3's metallica. There were missing metallica songs that would have been great to play but they had to waste time on crap music... or at least put inferior versions of the songs on when metallica did a way better job. Aerosmith and van halen suffered the same thing. But seriously I wish they would make more current bands have their own games. I realize they have to |
![]() | Comment #74 by Der Nacho Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:12:41 PM Well include the two On tour DS games, and we have 10. Even without those, 8 games of the same series is still a lot. If they had stuck with 3, World Tour, and 5, we WOULD be talking about Rock Band overdoing it. |
![]() | Comment #75 by ikickkittens Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:14:27 PM oh and also if you are going to make a whole game for one band it better a be band that has had no songs relesed for it |
![]() | Comment #76 by Vampirate King Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:24:49 PM YES!!! Amazing BUT!!! They need to make it so you can rip said disk to RB2 or at least use old DLC or something |
![]() | Comment #77 by ZLU CORONA Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:37:03 PM STOP MAKING THOSE STUPID GAMES!!!! FUCKKKKKKKKK! |
![]() | Comment #78 by dakisbac Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:38:21 PM Oh how I love watching RB fanboys eat their own words now that EA is going to hop on this milk train with Activision. @ some idiot above: Neversoft has NOT released all the recent GH games. For example, I believe Beenox did Smash Hits |
![]() | Comment #79 by Mumrikus Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 08:49:56 PM I'd love to see a Pink Floyd Rockband. That's one of the only bands next to The beatles that I think are unique enough for a own game. Think about it, playing "The Wall" with some crazy ass walking hammers in the backround :D Or Echoes with a trippy psychadelic backround :D I could see it now! But then they would have to incorporate keyboards, or else it's not worth it. Genesis would be cool for Rock Band too, but only as DLC. Prog dude, out. |
![]() | Comment #80 by Rooster425 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 09:21:35 PM I don't care about Rock Band becoming "The next GH", because I like GH. I would also buy and play to death a Who-oriented game; DLC is usually limited to their most popular tracks, and dammit, I want to play A Quick One. |
![]() | Comment #81 by antnie Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 09:21:48 PM I love the who as much as the next guy. But seriously just leave it with the beatles. Or if they get a chance led zep RB. |
![]() | Comment #82 by MartyMcFly Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 09:35:00 PM Jeez they already have about 15 The Who songs already in Rock Band 1,2 and DLC. They don't need a stand alone game. |
![]() | Comment #83 by Sticko117 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 09:55:36 PM love The Who. funny... I see rock band going down the same path as guitar hero..... HYPOCRITICAL? I think so. Kbye |
![]() | Comment #84 by EvilPuggy Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 10:24:49 PM I want Green Day first, although the censoreship only does harm. The Who can make one, I'd like to get 20,000+ G from all these GH/RB. But artists have leaked all band-specific ones, but they may just cancle the project. who knows? |
![]() | Comment #85 by Seiryu Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 11:18:39 PM Robert Daltrey has been dead to me ever since I the "Vampirella" movie. I'd say we should just ignore all these musicians claiming that there is a Rock Band being made for their band and not consider it news unless it is an official announcement from Harmonix. All these news posts do is start flame wars between the "Yes! that's my favorite band!" people and the "Stop milking the rhythm game genre!" people. |
![]() | Comment #86 by Seiryu Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 11:20:47 PM >.< ...ever since I "saw" the Vampirella movie. Guess it was such a traumatic experience that my brain instinctively removed the fact that I had seen it from that sentence. |
![]() | Comment #87 by mst3k 420 Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 11:29:47 PM To all you Who haters i got one thing to say to you, "WHO THE F*CK ARE YOU!" Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, chumps. |
![]() | Comment #88 by tehapoc Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 11:31:41 PM They'd make more bank if they were to do Zeppelin. |
![]() | Comment #89 by Wolfofthewind Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 11:32:51 PM @86/87 Just like the musicians you are arguing about...I have a feeling you have no idea what you're talking about either. Just who is "Robert Daltery?" ROFL!!!! Along with news posts promoting flame wars, it appears they also promote moronic posts like yours. His name is definitely not Robert, and if you read the news story you could have even avoided that mistake. Hahaha!!! As far as this game would be concerned if it does indeed exist later on, that'd be awesome. It's great news since I'm also going to see Daltrey next month. |
![]() | Comment #90 by Wolfofthewind Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 11:35:36 PM Oh I meant, 85/86. As for you #87? I hear ya! Awesome post. And 88? That is a plausible arguement. |
![]() | Comment #91 by Sabeythang Tuesday, October 27, 2009 @ 11:47:07 PM Probably just a Track Pack a`la AC/DC. Having a full-fledged best-of The Who DLC available for Rock Band and then releasing a band-centric game about them would make little sense. |
![]() | Comment #92 by Seiryu Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 12:06:51 AM @89 Ok, I admit, I have never really listened to The Who, I didn't say I had. As I am not a fan, I don't know the band members names by heart and I misread the news post. My point still stands, however, as ROGER Daltrey did indeed appear in the extremely bad film "Vampirella" (as a lead character, no less). Regardless of whether I am a fan of the band or not, it's still true that it is a waste of space to post news articles based on comments by the bands. Basically, I feel that if the person posting the article thinks that "RUMOR:" needs to be put in front of the title, they should just not post the article instead, as rumors aren't news. Also, I'm glad you found amusement in the fact that I made a mistake regarding his name, but as I did not insult anyone in my post there is r |
![]() | Comment #93 by Seiryu Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 12:07:27 AM really no call for you to start throwing out words like "moronic". It's very unbecoming to insult random strangers on the internet when you know nothing about them. |
![]() | Comment #94 by tehapoc Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 12:14:21 AM @90 -Larger fanbase = more $ What's not to understand? I mean, I like The Who. I really do. Endless Wire was well within my top five favorite albums this decade. All I'm saying is that because Zeppelin has a larger fanbase that it would put up better numbers against The Who. |
![]() | Comment #95 by danny barrett Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 12:15:55 AM i can't believe they are gonna make a full game, quite probably an ac/dc style thing, and that would be cool. although i must admit, even if it was a full game, i'd probably get it, and queen, and pearl jam, and probably even green day, just in the hopes that they had some older dookie style stuff, not this 21st century shit |
![]() | Comment #96 by snake2895 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 01:36:51 AM I really hope they don't make this just yet seriously isn't Rock Band meant to do the right things while Guitar Hero does the wrong things? |
![]() | Comment #97 by Dcool77 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 01:57:05 AM Ok no offence but i don't really like the Who and i think they should come out with RB3 so we could go thru the career and actually unlock stuff again and so far the only one band only games i like is GH: Metallica (though it should of just been Metallica only and not 21 of there songs and 20 guest songs) i think that was the best GH game out period! And they should of stopped there with solo bands tho GH5 tracklist sucks badly so i think GH should stop making games now and leave it to HMX they pick better songs even tho the latest DLC is kinda sucky too except for Rob Zombie |
![]() | Comment #98 by StarmanX22 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 05:14:29 AM why they keep making new band simulator games, i dont know... they should just make DLC and Game Updates... No reason to make a new game.. just makes more Disc's and if ur playing 1 and u wanna play a song on a different version, it just makes it a hassle... and its getting annoying... |
![]() | Comment #99 by TVC613 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 05:35:53 AM The Who are good... but The Stones are LEGENDS. Make a Rolling Stones: Rock Band. |
![]() | Comment #100 by Monstor Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 05:50:06 AM Rolling stones suck #99, I think it would be a great idea, this would be insane on drums, hopefully its the same engine as rock band 2, 100TH COMMEBT |
![]() | Comment #101 by danny hampson Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 06:14:38 AM there has only been two band titled games that have been any good, metallica and the beatles, there is no point to keep making band specific titles because they wont appeal to everyone. Harmonix are turning into activison, if this is true then there is gonna be RB:the who and RB: queen, plus lego RB and RB3, thats another 4 titles added to the 3 they have out already, thats 7 titles on the xbox360 and there are already 9 titles of GH out (inc van halen) i sense that RB will get milked as badly as GH...it was only a matter of time i guess. |
![]() | Comment #102 by Pheonix_Assassin Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 06:32:22 AM I would prefer another band to get there own game and not The Who |
![]() | Comment #103 by Norman Coxwell Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 06:38:10 AM Buy it in a heartbeat. If its anywhere near the quality of the Beatles... Man the Who is the greatest band ever. Love this. |
![]() | Comment #104 by TehClownsta Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 07:45:11 AM Great band, but Harmonix and Neversoft need to slow down, we have GH: Aerosmith, GH: Metallica, GH: Van Halen, RB AC/DC, RB: The Beatles, and now The Who? Soon there aren't going to be any bands left to use, since the bands they have made a full game of won't have any of their songs in another game's setlist, although I did appreciate having GH: Metallica. |
![]() | Comment #105 by tunaleg Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 07:54:55 AM the who, like queen, suck balls |
![]() | Comment #106 by RTRD_Mayhem Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 08:07:34 AM i was fed up with all these "Music Games" after guitar hero: Aerosmith (which i never played). Look, i'm a musician, i've been drumming for almost 11 years, and as much as i love music, i can't stand these games. BIG REASON:::::::because this upcoming generation, will hear a song and sing it. And we will say, "you know that song??" and they'd say "ya it was on Rock Band/Guitar Hero 23." Trust me, music is a huge part of my life, and these games are just pointless and are no good in my opinion. |
![]() | Comment #107 by RTRD_Mayhem Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 08:10:04 AM @ 31, 58::: 9 games if you include GH2 from March 07. so thats 9 GH games in less than three years. WASTE!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock Band better stay classy and not do this and ruin the franchise, though i don't play/care for it. |
![]() | Comment #108 by Der Nacho Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 08:42:20 AM @ 78: Is it not still a god damned Guitar Hero game? My point is not who developed it. 2009 Guitar Hero games are more than more seris released period. |
![]() | Comment #109 by Santaslave Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 09:02:37 AM The only Guitar Hero I'd even bother with anymore right now is if they released a game with ACTUAL Guitar HEROES instead of trendy bullshit bands who can play like 1 powerchord over and over. I'm talking Satch, Vai, Gilbert, Petrucci, Lane, Johnson..etc hell, I'd be happy with some Malmsteen. |
![]() | Comment #110 by Vandiloo Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 09:51:47 AM "They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can’t stop us singing and making music." I'm pretty sure if they can burn your books and paintings they will also have the power to stop you from singing. Regardless, I'm pretty much done with the band games. There's far to many great games out there to spend my time playing just a fun game. |
![]() | Comment #111 by Keizaron Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 10:08:05 AM All of you who continue to bitch about Harmonix turning into Activision fail to see one thing: Quality. Harmonix hardly ever lets its consumer base down. Activision has a known track record for doing so, even outside of Guitar Hero. Everybody needs to stop taking a sip from the glass of emo rage and just settle down a bit. |
![]() | Comment #112 by EOU Findub Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 10:56:13 AM Yippee...more Rock Band/Guitar Hero/Music games... |
![]() | Comment #113 by superkid1995 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 10:58:49 AM Why don't they just hurry up and make rock band 3... I mean 6 lol |
![]() | Comment #114 by VladimirK Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 11:21:38 AM I love The Who, but man, at the rate they are going, Rock Band : A.V. Alexandrov Russian army twice red-bannered academic song and dance ensemble, could be a reality soon :p (Haha, that would be a definate buy). But more serious about the instrument games, why isn't there a prog rock one yet? Stuff like Yes and Pink Floyd, see I would say it could be risky, but you would get sales easily from dumb teenagers who listen to Pink Floyd and think they are different, their usual market of people who buy them and that's not even mentioning all the people who would want to buy it just because it is a prog rock one. |
![]() | Comment #115 by Reverend Allan Ironside Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 11:26:19 AM Sweeeet. I love the Who. I'd buy that for a dollar |
![]() | Comment #116 by Yuriam Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 11:43:34 AM Well ... I'm not into that "music game" stuff. Only got Beatles Rockband and DJ Hero (Hi to the haters out there.) The Who is a great band, no doubt ... ... but what I really want is a pure Dream Theater Rockband. That would be cool ... and yes - it would be 'milking the franchise' ... but I wouldn't care. For me its simple: Love it or hate it. If you hate it: be quiet (as long as you can't discuss in a proper way.) |
![]() | Comment #117 by Mumrikus Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 11:47:13 AM #114 Yes, more Prog in Guitar Hero/Rock band. Bands like Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Yes, Marillion, The Moody Blues, King Crimson etc. That would be fucking awesome. But like I've said, without a keyboard, it's worthless. |
![]() | Comment #118 by Mumrikus Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 11:49:31 AM #114 Oh and another thing, what do you mean with "dumb teenagers who think Pink Floyd is different" I'm a teenager, I listen to Pink Floyd AND I think they are different. Does that make me dumb? If so, you're equally as dumb for saying such a thing. |
![]() | Comment #119 by Chaosflare Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 11:56:55 AM I love Rock Band, but I doubt I'd get an edition for The Who; I could never really get into them, or the Rolling Stones. Or Pink Floyd for that matter. |
![]() | Comment #120 by xHussBus59x Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 12:06:56 PM if anything make rock band 3 |
![]() | Comment #121 by VladimirK Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 12:30:14 PM @118, I mean the teenagers who want to be different from their age group so listen to Pink Floyd for that purpose. (You know, listen to Dark Side of the Moon, go out buy all the merchandise possible with the prism on it to wear at their school, then you say to them, who do you prefer, Gilmour or Barrett and they haven't got a clue). You surely know that type I mean, that idiots who even though they might like something, will say it sucks because it's popular. But I'm not meaning you, you managed to name a list of prog rock. And I'm a teenager too ;) |
![]() | Comment #122 by GeneralBoltz18 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 12:41:20 PM @ #100 and 105, only in your opinion they do. In my opinion, they're two of the greatest rock bands EVER! |
![]() | Comment #123 by pined5551 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 12:54:11 PM I wish all these music games would simply FUCK OFF!!! |
![]() | Comment #124 by panicky Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 01:54:37 PM stop buying these music games, enough is enough. |
![]() | Comment #125 by zombie stomp52 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 02:03:58 PM really? i have been saying this for a while now, but THEY ARE BEATING A DEAD HORSE!! how many music games came out this year so far? 6? there is still lego rock band, and RB unplugged (or something like that) on their way. i love the beatles, and i really like the who, but im not going to get any of them. they are just such a waste of time, and money. and i refuse to give those money hungry companies Harmonix, and Acivision any more of just that. |
![]() | Comment #126 by Zef Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 02:29:56 PM What happens when all of the bands have their own Guitar Band/Rock Hero games? I imagine they'll have to lego-ise everything, so it will be "Lego Star Wars The Who: Rock Band 2" |
![]() | Comment #127 by GetStarstrukk Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 02:39:39 PM Let's just hope this one is exportable. I can understand the Beatles not being exportable, and I"m fine with that (although I would LOVE to have it in RB2.) |
![]() | Comment #128 by Beast Eator Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 02:52:48 PM no. i want a Rock band 3... idk who The Who are... |
![]() | Comment #130 by Nightbeam Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 03:35:20 PM Music is so controversial, everyone has different tastes. It just pisses me off when they say its milking when devoted fans would love The Who: Rockband, just because it may not be your favorite kind of music. |
![]() | Comment #131 by kizwiz Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 03:39:33 PM @126 Without the star wars bit lol. I don't think they should make this because music games are getting abused way too much & i dont like The Who |
![]() | Comment #132 by Ben172 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 03:57:31 PM I'm hoping he got mixed up with Guitar hero: The Who. I can see that happening but not The Who Rock Band. |
![]() | Comment #133 by J0K3R C4RD Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 05:16:51 PM Ok all of yall with your facts of sales and popularity of games and such. I'd buy Rock Band: The Who, because I believe they were a really great band, and their music should be released all together on a game. |
![]() | Comment #134 by J0K3R C4RD Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 05:19:45 PM wut i really need is a U2 Rock Band |
![]() | Comment #135 by L1E Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 05:22:13 PM @78 Neversoft hasn't released any Guitar Hero games, Activision has! Neversoft develops, don't mix the two terms up. |
![]() | Comment #136 by Mumrikus Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 06:02:06 PM #121 oh, I see. People that listen to Pink Floyd ONLY because it's different. Posers. never really heard of that with Pink Floyd, but it happens with other groups, so why not with Pink Floyd? Sad, really. Music doesn't automatically suck just because it's popular, you can get sick of it yes, but it doesn't really suck. As much as I WANT to hate groups like Green Day and Nickelback I have to admit they have some good stuff. They don't suck just because they're on the radio, and Pink Floyd isn't any better because they're not. Pink Floyd is just good, no matter what. |
![]() | Comment #137 by Tim 13 Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 06:04:50 PM "What do you think? Would you buy/play a version of Rock Band based around the journey of The Who?" No. #129: You're a fucking cunt. |
![]() | Comment #138 by devin the brain Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 06:05:40 PM i think there should be a led zeppelin rock band. |
![]() | Comment #139 by blayde Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 06:35:44 PM @94 and others- Isn't it led zepplin who refuse to sell any of their song rights? if so no led zepplin:RB I would buy a green day one deffinatley but I think it's dlc packs or something. The Who have a lots of DLC already as do Queen and Pearl jam so these are all useless bands whereas green day has one pack so I think their's is most likely( and my most wanted :D). |
![]() | Comment #140 by Rodni Demental Wednesday, October 28, 2009 @ 06:38:37 PM Makes sense to me, I'd buy it. I actually really like the idea of band specific RB/GH games, if you go into it open minded enough you can come out liking a lot of new types of music. |
![]() | Comment #141 by N1GHTWALKER 823 Thursday, October 29, 2009 @ 02:07:20 AM Too much.......... stupid........ |
![]() | Comment #142 by RSNO1 Friday, November 13, 2009 @ 02:13:17 PM defo getting this !! i dont care if rock band turns out like guitar i have money to spend on games if u dont have money then dont buy them . |
![]() | Comment #143 by GodzillaDude123 Monday, November 23, 2009 @ 06:59:46 PM wow, that sounds freaking awesome! hope its true |
![]() | Comment #144 by blacksagra Sunday, December 13, 2009 @ 01:10:02 AM i agree we everyone but the people who think this is dumb and rock band will never be the new gh because frankly guitar hero sucks balls compared to rb and yess dlc would be better but then again you get a better discount |
![]() | Comment #145 by JamMastrHibbert Sunday, January 10, 2010 @ 02:39:20 PM they have way to many songs released on rock band as it is. also they don't have to many hits to make a full game |
![]() | Comment #146 by CardinalPiggles Saturday, January 23, 2010 @ 10:36:26 PM (U2 yes the Who no????) what the fuck, this is rock band not singstar, if u wana listen to their music go do it. doesnt mean its worthy of a rock band feature. also, beatles amazing song writers and singers but not great intrumentalists, so a little boring to play. The Who great instrumentalists through and through, great iconic guitar, fun bass, and simply AMAZING drums, what more could you want, even if u dont like listening to their music, this would be fun to play i garentee it. also id like to see rock band: Iron Maiden, that would very fun but i doubt it will happen. |
