Zune, Twitter, Facebook Preview Program Sign Ups Now Open

Microsoft today announced that sign-ups for the Zune/Twitter/Facebook preview program are now open.

The preview program gives members of the Xbox Live community early access to these new features to test them out before the floodgates open up later on this fall.

If you want to be in with a chance of being accepted on to the program, simply head over to the sign up page on Xbox.com, fill it in and submit your application.

Major Nelson highlighted a few points on his blog, which are as follows:

  • We’re looking for multiple thousands of participants, so your chances of making it in are good.
  • This opportunity is open to all Xbox LIVE Members in regions where Xbox LIVE is available.
  • Just completing the survey does not automatically get you access to the Preview Program. We’ll be making final selections from the completed surveys and send you an email if you are selected.
  • While both Xbox LIVE Gold and Silver members can sign up, Priority will be given to Gold members in the selection process.
So get signing up, what's the worse that could happen?

i agree with #17 and others on here. all i care about is last.fm. if its a radio station, that would be a cool way to listen to and discover new bands that you might like.

Was one of the first to sign up (thanks to Twitter). Can't wait for this update. Hopefully Last.fm is included in the preview which I don't think it is.. but it'll at least be out for the full update.

Said it before and I'll say it again, this doesn't belong on a game console. I mean, they need to send an email out to validate that it's really you, so you already need a computer, which also means you can already visit all of those sites.

I can definitely see this junk clogging up Live and slowing us all down.

I've signed up to be honest I couldn't care less about having Facebook or Twitter on my 360. Last.fm sounded good but I've heard you can't listen to it while in game (which would have been great!), so not even that excited by it now as I can just listen to it on my pc if needed. I do wish Microsoft would just release a proper internet browser for the 360 instead of adding all these little apps. Would be cool to browse on my 40" hdtv.

I don't really understand why some people hate it so much. It's not like you have to pay for it, it'll just be there. I don't see how it can get in the way anymore than the movie bit does, which kinda doesn't you just scroll past it and ignore it if you don't use it. My router broke so at the moment I can't use my laptop and be on Live at the same time, so I think it'll be quite useful at times, really.

Instead of doing all of this crap, why don't they just make an internet browser?

I play Xbox to play games, not to social network, if I wanted to do that I'd go on my computer.

i barely use facebook half my friends use myspace instead of there facebook . and since when did people arent talking about it soo were not goin to use come into use ill only use the twitter for gaming news / x360a news feed i rather have a xbox.com channel so i go on the forums and what not

I dont see a problem with Microsoft doing this stuff, same goes for DLC. People have this notion that they are entitled to so much and I dont know why.
