| Honestly there really wasn't much hype about ODST.. think about it, we didn't find out a lot about the game until a month before. For the longest time it was just that one trailer.. There isn't anything wrong with Halo. I kind of don't like the different stories thing, if Halo was setup like the Star Wars plot line, I think it may be a little better. |

ok there are only going to be 3 games of gears of war, because they are going to wrap it up in gears 3. If Epic makes more than 3 gears than shame on them because its really great series. There only needs to be 3.
About ODST, that game was not worth $60. I'm sorry but the campaign sucked. Firefight sucked. Achievements are a nuisance to get(yes i will 100% it).

| I personally think that half these people nowadays are just trying to follow a trend that Halo sucks. Seriously it gets tiring having to hear mostly some of these little kids complain about it constantly, Halo itself is not a terrible game, though I would say there have been better games and Gears of War if anyting follows a much better storyline, but that aside I also understand that there are fans of the series out there that want to enjoy as much as they can from it. Much like Star Wars there have been tons of games and though I personally do not like star wars i dont go bashing on how they are milking out the series for money. Lets hope they make more changes in the upcoming games.
ODST could have been totally been better if they added a cover system. it would have made sense aswell, seen as your not as tough as the MC and would have to think more tactically. it would of added a whole new dynamic to the halo series. But i dont think they dare change anything that much :( |

I'm very excited to see what is in store for the franchise.
Honestly though, if you don't like the game then just stay away from it. I don't believe you were commanded (and if you were, I'm sorry to hear that...damn aliens) to buy the game so it's technically your fault. For the more Halo fans it could go either way, really excited or somewhat hesitant. Either way, the future of Halo has already been confirmed so let us just see what happens. There is no point in hating the game that hasn't even arrived yet. |

People only say Halo sucks because it's a pathetic excuse of an FPS game. It's made for kids, it's played by kids, and the people who complain are the ones who aren't kids.
It's like a 30 yr old man playing a Barbie spin-off on DS and saying it sucked, a 3 yr old girl might think differently. Fact is, people need to play games that are actually designed for their age group, such as CoD for teens / adults and CSS for slightly older people. |

| Bungie is easily one of the top 5 studios out there. Every Halo game that they've made has been improved and different. Everyone puts these ridiculous expectations on Bungie because they have spawned such great games. ODST was made in a single year (which is just nuts) and was fresh enough for me to enjoy. With a new improved engine, Halo: Reach will be the next big FPS. |

I will get any halo that has a multiplayer, the campaigns have blown since the first one. | Plus..a new halo has great potential for multiplayer ach. not ones like halo 3 where to this day it still ruins lonewolves, noobs running around trying to get 5 pt achs. Put total kill achs for certain gametypes and overall, and make it where kills against players in your own party dont count, eliminate all the boosting. How hard would it be to get 100,000 total kills online? Or 10,000 kills with a weapon like snipe or BR (one that you use naturally and wouldnt ruin multiplayer) step your games up bungie...im not splattering someone with a mongoose. Keep people playing and have some long well earned achs. |

@65: It is not obvious that developers milk their franchise. There are developers who respect their creation over money, which is also called passion. I like the Halo franchise a lot and I've played all of them but it has been a downhill with Halo for a while now. Sure, they might have gotten bigger profits for these newer games but that's mainly because they have got more resources to support them.
I think they should just forget these ODST spin-offs, take a break for a couple years and design the story properly for the next three games and name them properly just Halo 4, Halo 5 and Halo 6. |

| Like honestly, Halo isn't getting milked as much as CoD. Theres pretty much a new CoD every year, theres been six just on the 360 and only 3 halos, or 4 if you count Halo Wars. Man, you people are really cool for being nonconformists. It's just awesome that you guys rip on a popular game for no reason. You know what, since you guys all said the franchise is being milked, it must be true. People on the internet never lie, or express opinions while perceiving them as facts. There's been 5 games in 8 years, that must be milking. Call of Duty isn't milking though because it has an annual release schedule, comics, and movie rights. I just can't believe that people are required to buy Halo games because they get the guillotine otherwise.

I don't get why people moan about more sequels. If you like the game get it, if you don't then don't get it. I seriously will never understand sequel hatred.
Anyway, I'm not too fussed. I'm not buying ODST but am willing to play my friends copy. Halo is good, but I prefer other games. |

I hate these lastest halo games yet i always get sucked in by the hype they create & end up buying them anyway.
Halo ODST was weak, I beat legendary by myself in a day...
And Bungie said it was meant to be harder? pfft..
The story aspect of halo has always interested me though, so i'm quite happy about their 6 year plan to give the story even more depth. |

I am not a huge Halo nut but here is my opinion of the games thus far,
Halo 3 = fun with friends, I also enjoyed the offline campaign.
Halo Wars = Star Craft 2 style game play with nice graphics and amazing cinematic's, did not play online at all too time consuming and would have to deal with 12 year olds trying to talk like they have been around for a million years lol ;P
Halo 3 ODST = Great game, story was cool, loved the Rookies attitude. Yeah Legendary was a little too easy IMO too #104, I kept checking if it reset to normal many times when playing lol. Firefight is pretty neat but might get old fast? just play Gears 2? maybe ;)
Overall these games are decent imo, I will prob pick up Reach, just to play the offline campaign or with friends over co-op or something. |

| So I was just reading my average news article, and after scrolling downward for 5 minutes I realized that the video game industry is turning to shit. Halo is going to be horrible for the next 6 years. Call of Duty will still be comprised of people who complain about everything that ISN'T Duty. And Gears of War will still lag. I hate to get in on the Lover vs haters debate but I just can't pass it up.
Yes, Halo is milking the franchise. They have 3 main games, a crappy RTS, an overpriced expansion, 5 or 6 books, 1 graphic novel, an anime series in the works, a movie in the works and another comic series. CoD may come out with a new game every year, but that is split between two companies (yes, I know that Halo Wars wasn't made by Bungie). And about saying how popular Halo is, CoD4 holds the current worl record for most unique users playing a multiplayer game.

Seriously though, I just hope this doesn't turn into a series of yearly games, just to cash in on a popular franchise. I thought Halo 3's story was a little disappointing (but a big improvement on Halo 2's campaign - though that's not saying much), and the fun's slowly slipping from multiplayer. I'm still a fan of the Halo games - I loved ODST, even if it was a little short - but let's hope they keep putting effort into the series. At least try to keep the idea of shooting aliens in the face fresh. =p |

First, GoW and Epic are completely different from Halo and Bungie. Epic is built on solid MP games, they are a PC developer through and through. GoW will stay a trilogy, it's not even their main universe (Unreal/UT).
Bungie has made only a handful of games besides Halo, including Marathon, which is in the same universe as Halo.
Besides All Fronts was DLC, best $20 I've ever spent, meanwhile Bungie's expansion that I paid $60 for now collects dust after a single run through... |

| Halo 2=best mutliplayer game of all time. I'm a HUGE COD fan but before COD all I played was Halo 2. Halo 3 was a disappointment and Halo ODST was a bigger disappoint, I doubt Reach will have a big WOW factor, but since Bungie established its top selling series the next 30 games could be shit and they'll still sell millions of copies. Game companies are learning this from Red Octane and Activsion with the GH series, the future is full of shitty sequels not leading off one another that don't ever die, I doubt we'll see a day were original game content is made anymore. Bungie is a good company but they're milking Halo, MAKE ANOTHER GOD DANG MARATHON or at least something else, christ. |

| from what i heard its microsoft milking halo not bungie, bungie wants to get out that is why reach is their last game. but of course if something is popular there has got to be some haters. you can doubt the campaign but the multiplayer of halo 2 and 3 was/is amazing. and odst was a great game, just not worth 60 dollars. for upcoming halo games not by bungie they will get a rent first, if i like them a purchase. but my prediction is reach will be bigger and better than halo 2 and 3, both campaign and multiplayer wise. i think they would want to leave with a bang |

As I said to someone when I was told that it was 'mandatory' to be excited about MW2, 'Looks like I'm going to have to disappoint a lot of people'.

@ #142: MGS Touch doesn't count. It's not an actual Metal Gear Solid game, it's one of those old school light gun shooters with a touch screen instead of a light gun. But it's not just another same ol' MGS game as your post implies as it's not the same thing as the other games at all.
Same applies to the Acid games. They are turn-based strategy games played with cards, and not the usual gameplay seen in the main games. And for all we know it may also apply to Rising, considering the change of the game's tag to *groan* "Lightning Bolt Action."

| Since Bungie won't be working after Halo: Reach, then it's definetly going to be different...or another Treyarch...Personally I'd like to see the series die with some dignity after Reach. With the success of Firefight I guess we'll see a new version obviously. Why not a game where you can play as the Covenant? The most we've gotten is the Arbiter and critics praised playing as him. Maybe Covenant vs UNSC multiplayer? Firefight as the Covenant? |

| People make me laugh. If you like Halo, buy Halo. If you don't, shut up. There's bound to be a game you love that someone else hates. Thats the greatness about videogames these days, the variety of games. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, doesn't mean you're right or wrong. I buy GoW, CoD, Halo, etc. because I like shooting games. They are all different twists on the shooter genre. If there was one set way to make a game...wouldnt that totally blow? Variety is the spice of life baby. |

to be honest, it's what you think about the games. Everyone is entitled to say the games are crap or great.
And although, not played ODST yet, I thoroughly enjoyed the "Halo Trilogy" so to speak. Halo CE was brilliant, and I still play it online on my PC, although not owning Halo 2 for it. Halo 2 was even better, then bringing out Halo 3.

| everyone says halo ODST is a expansion pack but for £35 its good because you get a new campaign and firefight...yes it would be better if you could search for a game of firefight but then its not as tactical or as fun if your not speaking to people thats why i only play nazi zombies on WAW either by myself or with 1 or 2 friends HALO=AWSOME |

| Tell you the truth that need a way to reinvent the series while keeping it halo. ODST was a good step but it was just reskinned really. I am a fan of both the CODS and HALO. I Think that Halo has been on the decline since HAlo 2. COD has been on the rise except for COD 3 and 5 have been getting better since 2. Any HAlo developers need to pull their shit together to get the next 6 years right. |

You mean to tell me Cod modern warfare is the same as Cod world at war where its about 50 years ago. Have you ever noticed like a 50 year difference or is that just me? its a good series, its not the greatest series of all time, but its good, HALO odst was short, but its fun. sadly most games nowadays are getting shorter, shorter and progressively more expensive.
looking forward to new anime series and hopefully the new games will be a bit longer. all the great games have their issues, but we still love them, stop hating, if u hate one game someone is bound to hate ur favourite, that's how wars start lol |

loved halo ce. liked halo2. liked halo 3. loved odst. hated the multiplayer of all of them exept for halo ce. the campaign of halo saga intrested me very much. with halo2 and halo3 multiplayer i started hating halo multiplayer, you join a game, shoot at one guy an then press b. yawn. halo ce was something unique that evolved in something sad imo...
now odst: loved so much the single player campaign and the co-op campaign. firefight exited me for just 5 minutes. then "yawn" again. i love to discover particulars in the story of a game and the "free bitchin' around" gameplay intrested me so much in odst that's why i like it. i'm gonna buy halo reach only for the campaign because i want to know how was the war on that planet, expecially in its last moments. the two books i read completed my i |

| Halo single player is meh... I wonder if odst is like that? I mean I know on ebay the multiplayer disc alone is selling for as much as both discs together. So is the full priced expansion even worth the $60.00 bucks? I'm not trying to dog halo 3, I just think the expansion should have sold as such. Then again I haven't played the game and when I finally do I may be blown away. Doubt it though. |

@203 yeah, get some friends. Matchmaking in Firefight would be lame. Just like it was lame in Horde from Gears2, people always quit, thus ruining the game. Get some friends & actually plan it.
I dont understand why everyone complains about the length of ODST, its a fucking expansion. They said that from the very beginning. Not to mention its a great deal if you either don't have all the maps, or don't like Halo 3's campaign. You can just sell your halo 3 copy for about 25 bucks. Everyone who bought it also got 10 bucks worth of free maps (at least. Some people could've gotten up to 30 bucks worth) and they got invited to Halo: reach BETA.
If you hate halo, get the fuck off this page its obviously not for you.

well look how many of you have played ODST? When i was on here when halo 3 was released you said it is getting old then halo wars was released you said you had enough no more halo games... Yet look at the amount of ODST's were sold... You lot will snap at halo reach and continue buying halo games in the future...
Fact is there are 5 halo games at the moment only four of them are a FPS... Now lets look at the cod franchise... 6 games and yet nobody complains about them?
5 halo games in 7 years
6 cod games in 6 years
Now before and between call of duty there was medal of honour which apart from the health system was EXACTLY the same, at least halo was and still is different and unique... Dont get me wrong i would rather play MODERN WARFARE any day but im proving a point so if your sic |

I think they need to wrap up the storyline with the chief then end it.
I am a big Halo fan but most series tend to become a little dry if continued for too long. Don't want that to happen with Halo.
Very few games have the ability to keep going successfully, game after game. (Resident Evil springs to mind.) |

wicked, i have no problem wit hthat, no matter how much you like or dislike the game now or are finding it repetitive, i love games with an amazing story, who doesnt!
A time lime and a whole novel of stories to play through and unlock is what every gamer should be happy for, you cant say they werent really well put together,
i love a good story though as you can tell so i am a bit byist, the storyline makes a game for me... |

| Not to give the halo haters an excuse, but after you play a series for 2 years consistently, it gets a little old and you don't want to play it anymore. I have turned into a halo hater because I've played my 2000 matches and the whole campaign multiple times and I'm sick of it. But for some reason people seem to be hypnotized by this game and JUST WON'T DROP IT. I'm just sick of hearing about it, and wish they would just stop making halo games and move on to something else. |

Just looking through these comments is painfull. I hate Halo, I Love Halo, I hate CoD, I love Cod, I love GoW, I hate GoW... I have just lost the will to live. Come on be a bit more original (granted some of you have made good points and the love/haters you know who you are)
Personally I'm not a massive Halo Fanboy but if a game is good I'll play it, simple as. Halo 3 and ODST were fine so 6 more years of decent games is cool for me. But you won't find me getting all gooey eyed over the news or equally getting on my HaloHighHorse and bashing it! Play for fun and if it's not fun DON'T PLAY...Simple |
