LucasArts today dated their upcoming puzzle-platforming title, Lucidity, which is now set for an October 7th release date on the Xbox Live Arcade.

"In Lucidity, players take a trip into the imagination of Sofi, a young girl who is filled with a persistent desire to explore new worlds and overcome all obstacles in her way. In this challenging puzzle platform game, players are tasked with keeping Sofi safe as she drifts deeper into the strange new world of her dreams. Through quick reaction and placement of randomly generated puzzle pieces, players must create a path through beautifully detailed dreamscapes to keep Sofi in perpetual motion and deliver her to safety."

"Lucidity comes from our effort at LucasArts to form several small internal development teams and give them the creative freedom to make games that surprise, amaze and inspire," said LucasArts President Darrell Rodriguez. "The re-imagining of The Secret of Monkey Island and the development of the all-new Lucidity are just the beginning of this effort."

In addition to dating the title, LucasArts also released 6 new screens to show off the game's unique visual style.

As soon as I heard about this game I was very interested. I'm 10 times more likely to purchase creative / original titles than "classic games" that no one wants.

Looks cool, though if it comes down to this or Zombie Apocalypse, I'd go with the latter.

It's a pretty neat concept. Odd that LucasArts comes out with a new IP while trying to remake some older ones...

the graphics are nice but since you cant control the character directly, it really doesn't show much for how the gameplay controls will be. still interesting though

The game has some great potential,, I'll be interested to see how they execute it. I'll at least play the trial, if not buy it.

Very interested in this as well, nice to see that Lucasarts are still also looking into new ip's, do hope they still 'remake' some of their classics as well though :)

@#13 Maybe you should take a look at the footage first. It's an addictive mix between a platformer and puzzle games. Way beyond cheap nds platformers :)

Can't wait for the demo..

Does look nice, and I usually make moves to support originality.

However looking at the achievements it seems it's focusing on being a collect-a-thon, which doesn't bode too well with me.

I'm growing very tired of developers putting menial collection tasks as a way of being able to say "We have 20 hours of gameplay in our title".

I will reserve further judgement until the demo, but I will approach very tentatively.
