Halo Waypoint Coming November 5th Written Thursday, September 10, 2009 by Dan Webb Halo Waypoint - Microsoft's hub for all things Halo - will hit Xbox Live on November 5th according to the official Halo Waypoint Twitter feed. The tweet said, "Nov 5. Mark it on your calendar. That's when you will get your hands (or controllers) on Halo Waypoint. :)" As to what Halo Waypoint is exactly? Well, according to the press release a few months back... "Halo Waypoint will be a new destination for "Halo" fans on Xbox LIVE around the world. It will inform fans of the latest "Halo" news and activities, and grants access to content ranging from podcasts, trailers and screenshots, to exclusive video footage you won’t find anywhere else. It also will provide a new challenge for "Halo" gamers with a career system and player rankings tied to both in-game and out-of-game accomplishments related to "Halo." Halo Waypoint will also be the place where you'll find previews of some of the Halo Legends (anime) episodes and behind-the-scenes documentaries coming early next year. | |

![]() | Comment #7 by Drradenstein Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 04:51:52 PM sounds good as long as they support it and dont make it some lame marketing tool! |
![]() | Comment #8 by Lord of Orion Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 04:52:26 PM I am still interested in what the "Out-of-Game" achievements will be ... "First person to be arrested while robing a bank wearing a Master Chief costume" BOOM! Unlock that achievement! |
![]() | Comment #9 by NaughtyNinja74 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 04:53:33 PM remember remember the 5th of November... |
![]() | Comment #10 by The Bum-Mobile Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 04:54:20 PM #6 Then again if it is free there is no milking whatsoever. Simply Microsoft thanking the game series that put their original game console on the map. |
![]() | Comment #11 by xxXI Dave IXxx Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 04:55:54 PM Kill your parents because they grounded you and took your copy of Halo ODST 10,000 worthless halo points and a life sentence. |
![]() | Comment #12 by zr122 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 04:57:34 PM Waypoint will probably show up just like the Spotlight series on the Dashboard. It'll be free, but you'll have to pay to watch Legends, watch the videos, etc. |
![]() | Comment #13 by NorseForce28 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 04:58:50 PM An nicely placed V for Vendetta refrence there #9. |
![]() | Comment #14 by blackout529 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:00:07 PM @#10 I was thinking of a way to counter his comment, but you hit the nail on the head :) I'm really interested in this. Can't wait. |
![]() | Comment #15 by Balverine Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:02:35 PM Whats next? A CoD hub? Or maybe a GH Hub? Makes me wanna sell my Xbox when they give into fanboy crap -_- (Also along with there Greedy ass shit and stupid "Avatar" crap. This isn't the fuck Wii M$..) |
![]() | Comment #16 by Rogue Gamer 23 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:02:49 PM i think i should consider it as my early birth day present from microsoft. lol |
![]() | Comment #17 by Steviewonder023 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:04:14 PM I must get XBOX Live b4 bonfire nite cuz of this |
![]() | Comment #18 by Tarvu Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:05:17 PM Sounds shit, Microsoft are taking advantage of their right to whore the hell out of Halo. |
![]() | Comment #19 by Dr Popodopolus Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:06:22 PM Go Master Chief!!! Burn in the fiery flames of hell. ODST FTW! |
![]() | Comment #20 by ii br00tal ii Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:14:41 PM @15 Then sell your Xbox, it's not like Halo Waypoint is going to be the new dashboard. It's just going to be a separate place in which you can get all things Halo. It won't be forced down your throat like the avatars were. It's free and voluntary, why are you angry? |
![]() | Comment #21 by christiansteele Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:18:55 PM @1 it's probably free for GOLD members. so technically it's not free. :O) |
![]() | Comment #22 by xGoRmSx Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:19:16 PM Wow could they milk the halo series any more than they already have? |
![]() | Comment #23 by kamakazegrunt27 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:20:41 PM Ill probobly check it out |
![]() | Comment #24 by RenegadeSniper7 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:22:51 PM @#22 *sigh* HOLY SHIT, THREE MAIN GAMES, AN RTS, AN UNLAUNCHED EXPANSION WITH NEW CONTENT TO THE THIRD MAIN GAME, AND THEN A NEW GAME COMING OUT AT THE END OF 2010, ALL WITH 11 YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT, AND ONE OF THEM WASN'T EVEN THE SAME GENRE OR DEVELOPER! HOLY SHIT! MILKING!!!!!!!!! GOOD THING THEY DON'T DO THAT WITH FINAL FANTASY OR POKEMON OR MARIO OR METAL GEAR SOLID OR GUITAR HERO! Fuck off. On topic: Two days before my birthday. |
![]() | Comment #25 by Jimbob131190 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:23:54 PM Wow Leave it at fucking bungie.net .....don't make a whole section on xbox dashboard, i mean Call of duty could do this... |
![]() | Comment #26 by MowatMan Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:24:23 PM I'm pretty sure if most owned a popular seires they would milk it as well + another 2 months :( |
![]() | Comment #27 by TEN Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:31:31 PM oh yeah V for Vendetta |
![]() | Comment #28 by Barry619 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:32:34 PM YAY! another thing on the marketplace that i will never use, woohoo! |
![]() | Comment #29 by Medaking Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:33:10 PM Hopefully theyll give the whole dash an update and whack sky on too ;D |
![]() | Comment #30 by MakoBallistic Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:39:46 PM just give me firefight!!!! |
![]() | Comment #31 by Halo OSTDs Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:44:26 PM @#13 it's not a V for Vendetta reference, but most likely where he got it from, but it really came from this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunpowder_Plot you just got learned... now back on topic, i think this might be a good tool if they could integrate something like Playstation home and have like a Halo world, or a Fable World... |
![]() | Comment #32 by FRO Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:44:53 PM HAAAAALLLLLO |
![]() | Comment #33 by Its Fooga Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:45:40 PM #24 is right they aren't really milking the halo series as bad as other game series like Guitar hero. |
![]() | Comment #34 by Coadster1 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:50:00 PM Awesome, I'll probably sign up. |
![]() | Comment #35 by chrisjp35 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:51:32 PM Should be left on bungie.net. Those who care enough about the series are already registered there to check their stats n medals. So why annoy other people with this pointless use of dashboard space. This is only going to cause a chain reaction and every major games series is to want their own hub on the dashboard, which is going to ruin the nice dashboard experience. |
![]() | Comment #36 by l.maciver Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 05:58:50 PM i still dont get what this is? is it a small game or just a lobby? |
![]() | Comment #37 by Akatsuki Cybi Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:00:36 PM Will it be available everywhere in the world oder just US? |

![]() | Comment #40 by ZACHSP8 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:04:02 PM Yes Halo games are fun but very overated, just let Halo games die and make something better Bungie. |
![]() | Comment #41 by TheDestroyer017 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:05:58 PM Simple if it's not free then I won't play if it is im all there for it. |
![]() | Comment #42 by CoolCrazyCookie Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:08:44 PM @24 & others halo pretty much made the xbox, its a great series and its not like you will be forced to use, its just somthing optional like netflix, or arcade calm down |
![]() | Comment #43 by unknownforce Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:13:05 PM Halo sucks! boo |
![]() | Comment #44 by Elit3 m0nkey Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:15:20 PM Anyone else think that if it was say Call of Duty, there would be little to no milking/[insert game title] sucks comments? Back on topic, it sounds cool but I really preferred the 1 game every 3 years tactic. Oh and if want to complain about milking, remember that A LOT of games have ANNUAL releases. cough**CoD, GH, RB etc**cough |
![]() | Comment #45 by Schism Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:32:56 PM just hope they dont force you into it like the damn avatars. i didnt want one and still dont. wtf! |
![]() | Comment #46 by Swegabe Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:36:51 PM The word Halo alone was mentioned atleast 13 times in this article...we need playable female Spartans too. =D |
![]() | Comment #47 by FuriousAli007 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:40:00 PM Surprised it's took so long considering Halo is the biggest franchise Microsoft has. |
![]() | Comment #48 by JonPorterWelsh Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 06:43:55 PM This better be optional! I don't wanna have to see Halo on my dashboard whenever I turn my xbox on! |
![]() | Comment #49 by drakehellsing Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:02:26 PM If this dashboard thing shows up, there better be an option to hide it so we don't have to look at it. I hate Halo enough as it is and don't need some extra worthless piece of crap to remind me of it each and every day I turn my xbox on.... |
![]() | Comment #50 by AsILayDying Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:04:17 PM roll on November 5th :D |
![]() | Comment #51 by Arcade R0b0t Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:09:28 PM yeah i will be pretty bummed if this costs anything, or if you have to buy a subscription. but only 6 more days after Halo Waypoint comes out then MW2!!!!!!! :DDDD |
![]() | Comment #52 by ScuzzyBunny FTN Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:13:07 PM Most people who don't live in Europe would only know about the 5th of Nov reference from the awesome movie V for Vendetta...or maybe a history major, but you can't really hold that against him. On topic...am I the only one who sees this for what it is? ODST drops (ha ha) in two weeks, yet they are waiting till Nov for this...seems like some other franchise has something going on within, oh, 5 days of Nov 5th. Maybe they are trying to get some focus back with their "core" fanboy audience. |
![]() | Comment #53 by CLET8 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:13:21 PM Great idea, but they should have done this a while ago. There are only 2 more releases in the halo franchise, one if which isn't even considered a 'full' game. |
![]() | Comment #54 by gamefreakduf Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:14:54 PM whats with people bitchin?? yeah they could do it for cod, yeah they could do it for gh, but they have a much larger fan base with halo....and you know if they did one for your favourite game youd be excited...i dont like halo that much, but for the people who do this is great news... |
![]() | Comment #55 by FrickXC3 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:29:39 PM sounds decent enough. |
![]() | Comment #56 by xDrDeath Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:32:11 PM I'll be to balls deep in dragon age orgins on novemeber 5th to give a flying fuck about some gay halo shit. |
![]() | Comment #57 by Phate LLD Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:32:49 PM @35 Agreed. |
![]() | Comment #58 by twister844 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 07:43:17 PM @#31- I was about to say the same exact thing. Kids these days.... Although, I also love V for Vendetta. |
![]() | Comment #59 by Lysander Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 08:08:16 PM Yawn. Bit old the whole Halo thing now isnt it? |
![]() | Comment #60 by yamayamayaamaa Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 08:13:58 PM Heyoooo Haloooo. |
![]() | Comment #61 by brianrob1974 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 08:26:34 PM Halo refuses to die. Great for the peeps who love Halo. |
![]() | Comment #62 by crunchb3rry Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 08:29:12 PM How about a combined Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution, etc. hub? So we don't have to wade through a literal ton of those games' DLC in the "what's new" sections of the Marketplace. Seriously, clean that shit up. Every time a new dash update comes out, Major Nelson blows smoke up our ass about how it's going to be "more organized" and it never is. |
![]() | Comment #63 by FatalFlaw810 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 08:35:25 PM Why is everyone crying about this? No one is forcing you to go on it. |
![]() | Comment #64 by Cobruh Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 08:35:32 PM Sounds good |
![]() | Comment #65 by FatalFlaw810 Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 08:37:05 PM look at everyone crying about the halo waypoint, but do you see them crying about the advertisements in the dashboard? I rest my case.. |
![]() | Comment #66 by Devil Sora Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 09:16:55 PM Last time I checked the "spotlight" section of the dashboard (and the most annoying part imo) is made optional you can hide it or reveal it. I'm guessing that Microsoft knows to do the exact same with this. I do play Halo, I'm good at it too. . . .but this will probablly be something I dont sign up for. Good idea though. . . give the little kids who play infection something to do other then annoy the hardcore players lol "in game achievements" - annoy the hell out of a player being the loudest person in the lobby/game! 50G! |
![]() | Comment #67 by Falcon McSquare Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 10:06:43 PM @ 24 Well said :) |
![]() | Comment #68 by BeheldBryan Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 10:27:55 PM Totally useless to me. A whole hub on my Xbox Live dashboard for a game series I don't even support. Awesome. If a Guitar Hero hub came next I'd have to throw up in disgust. |
![]() | Comment #69 by Dert McGert Thursday, September 10, 2009 @ 10:55:45 PM All this and I still can't play Halo 1 on the 360 on live. I'm not into the whole xbox connect, I just wish they could/would port it. |

![]() | Comment #74 by PuttyGod Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 12:39:12 AM You would think that this would coincide with ODST's release, because as it is, the next Halo game (that we know about) that will be releasing is Reach and that won't be out for a while now. |
![]() | Comment #75 by Roo 55564 Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 01:42:36 AM AND IT KEEPS GOING!!!!!!! |
![]() | Comment #76 by Badseed Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 02:01:08 AM This will be a great addition to Xbox,i mean it's the biggest franchise it's got. And for all those Haters saying it's gunna be annoying and that they hate Halo and stuff like that, don't access it and...FUCK OFF! |
![]() | Comment #77 by halofan1989 Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 02:28:25 AM I agree with #2. =) |

![]() | Comment #79 by Avengerr Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 02:47:26 AM Sounds SAWEEET! But if I have to pay for it then Ill be MAD! |
![]() | Comment #80 by angryassasin857 Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 04:43:28 AM #31 you are retarded , you so obviously googled the term . just because the phrase came from a poem does not mean that he was not referencing v for vendetta, that is just what he knows the phrase from. Bravo #9 that was a very well placed reference. #31 just because you know how to use google does not mean you "LEARNED" anyone. and it very much was a V for vendetta reference, but the Wachowski brothers referenced the poem in the movie. stop acting like a know-it-all jerk off . sorry for posting off topic |

![]() | Comment #83 by NFaMuS one Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 10:23:01 AM should be interesting...halo is good to play here and there...nothing too crazy |
![]() | Comment #84 by Battosai343 Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 11:35:19 AM This seems a little pointless to me. Don't get me wrong, I love Halo, but I agree that Bungie.net does a good job of keeping people updated. Plus, fanboys already know where/how to get Halo "stuff"; do we really need a hub? |
![]() | Comment #85 by yarminKun Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 11:52:37 AM Pointless. |

![]() | Comment #87 by iruhlman Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 02:36:41 PM Halo Waypoint = a PS3 Home virtual space you can/can't walk around in with your avatar |
![]() | Comment #88 by StabbyMcKnifey Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 04:47:19 PM This is stupid... its just taking things that we can already get on bungie.net and the live marketplace and putting them on the dashboard to encourage more 12 year olds play halo... i like halo but im not crazy about it. i hate the way ms love halo so much, they would never do this for cod or any other game this is pointless |
![]() | Comment #89 by oRedBull Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 08:10:44 PM Halo may be dragged out a little bit but that's not to say that Bungie haven't made them well, because they have. If your getting tired of Halo and think they are dragging them out, don't buy the games. According to your theory, if they're dragging out a game, then they are trying to get as much money as possible from a game. Therefore, if you buy the game you are contributing to the sales which fuel the developers to make sequels/prequels. BTW: I think Halo is good, not the best game in the world, but good. That thing above that's just their logic backfiring on them. |
![]() | Comment #90 by Halo OSTDs Friday, September 11, 2009 @ 11:31:04 PM @80 its called school kid, have you heard of it? it's in a place called "real life", maybe you've heard of it? the wiki entry is for idiots like you who aren't smart enough to get past the 7th grade... |
![]() | Comment #91 by Biohazard K Wednesday, September 16, 2009 @ 11:14:13 PM @24 You dumbass. They are milking Guitar Hero. Almost everyone I know hates it. Lets see... Guitar Hero 1, Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 3, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Guitar Hero On Tour, Guitar Hero Van Halen.... Dumbass. They are milking that. Too much of it. As for Halo...Lets see here... Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach. Plus some DLC for Halo 3, that is a lot better then buying a whole new game. I would much just rather buy DLC. As for I, I personally love Halo. So, get it right. I believe Halo is just doing a good job, not coming out with a game every 6 months. |
![]() | Comment #92 by SpudsOfSteel Tuesday, September 22, 2009 @ 08:18:27 PM the stupid thing about this it should have been available long before now. Especially considering they have had 3 years to develop and make a better stat system before the release of ODST. I am a bit disappointed that the halo3 in-game stat system hasnt been updated yet, but oh well, Just goes to proove the irresponsibility of MS and Bungie with their on going commitment to truely make a better gaming experience for their dedicated players. lets be honest they MILK every game franchise thet prooves to make them money, its not just Halo or GH, look at all ofthem if there is more than 2-3 games related to each in the series and yes DLC counts as milking too, especially if they charge for it. The whole point is to keep adding more and more to keep wheeling people in to play to ke |
![]() | Comment #93 by SpudsOfSteel Tuesday, September 22, 2009 @ 08:24:58 PM The whole point is to keep adding more and more to keep wheeling people in to play; to keep spending money on their crap. Lets be honest Most of you keep buying it as they keep putting it out. why because you want it and feel the urges to check it out your curious and enjoy it. If you dont enjoy it, Revolt against the companies and dont buy it, dont download it and dont play it. there is no sense in Complaining about Stupid BS just because you have you underwear crammed up your butt, because you panwed your games. The POINT OF so-called "milking" is to keep having new and fresh material in a franchise People are intrested in. When the sales and request for new and better material for a game dies then the eventualy death of the game happens. If not for the endless s |
![]() | Comment #94 by SpudsOfSteel Tuesday, September 22, 2009 @ 08:38:47 PM If not for the endless So-called "milking" you wouldnt have anything to do. You would be complaining that the companies are not providning you anything for your games, not giving you anything different or new to spend countless hours of wasted life on. Its your money Spend it how you want buy what you want. If your bored or upset over new DLC or a NEW game based on the same franchise... its simple DOnt Waste time on it, dont waste your money on it. Eventually people will stop buying if they dont want it, and eventually the companies will see that and be required to do something Completly different. They keep making it because people keep buying it and keep demanding it. When the demand for it ends, the Milking will end. And just because 5 people want it doesnt mean your g |
![]() | Comment #95 by SpudsOfSteel Tuesday, September 22, 2009 @ 08:40:07 PM When the demand for it ends, the Milking will end. And just because 5 people want it doesnt mean your going to get it. Truth of the matter if the companies DID NOT; "Milk" it you would be complaining they havent added or done anything to support their fans. Or even Keep the Stories alive because you love them so much. its Simple: Either buy it or dont. Play it or Dont. Its not the fault of the Industry that you went out and SOLD your copy of the game, Common Sense suggest if a game is played allot then there will be more material to support it. For those too stupid to get the point... Downloadable Content, expansion packs will always be made for a game franchise if the Paying Customers and Numbers of Players are there to make it finacially beneficial. |
