Agreed with #3 Marvel is sacred and it is almost a joke for them to be acquired by Disney.
I read about it this morning and I cannot see anything good to come from this. Marvel was still making a lot of profit so I do not see why they would let themselves be bought out. |

Last game that I can remember that Disney intertwined with another gaming world, was Final Fantasy.
When Disney and Squaresoft released Kingdom Hearts it was amazing. Hopefully Disney can release a game of that quality. ;) |

Have you SEEN the movies they've put out while being owned by Disney? Pulp Fiction? Clerks? Just because Disney owns a company doesn't mean they're making it all Disney-like. And just like with Activision still having it's game franchises, movie franchises already signed can't be touched until the contract runs up either. Sony still has the rights to a few more Spidey flicks. Paramount still has Iron Man and the other stuff it's signed onto for awhile I'm sure. And I'm pretty sure they can't make the Marvel Island at IOA stop using the Marvel name either due to contracts already signed. Quit getting your panties in a bunch, sheesh. |

Wow, I never would of ever seen this coming.
But I don't see why so many people think this is a bad thing; I mean sure Disney have come out with crap (High School Musical) as well as good (Nightmare Before Christmas) stuff but that doesn't necessarily mean anything is going to happen apart from Disney making more money, helping Marvel expand and possibly even bring out more games as Disney has it's own publising platform.
And anyway, it's not like this is the first time it's happened with companies, not like we shouldn't be used to it by now. |

I'd rather have Square-Enix work on serious games in the Square portfolio like Parasite Eve, Front Mission, FFT (the original, not that casual GBA garbage) instead of what is basically fan-fiction involving copy-and-paste metrosexuals. Also, Kingdom Hearts has one of the worst fanbases in gaming history. I'd rather hang out with Halo jocks, GTA fratboys, or the wannabe pros that populate Call of Duty forums. |

| The games might still be sucky, but this could be cool in a variety of ways. As long as they don't fuck up the comics, I would love to see Marvel themed rides and atractions at Disneyland, and kids like my nephew would sure get a kick out of seeing Mickey mixing it up with Spider-Man. I'm not anticipating a huge change within Marvel, it just wouldn't be smart business. What is likely is expanded promotion and licensing that could only serve to benefit the two companies (and us fans). |

| Well sucks for us, these movies are gonna start sucking. Don't get me wrong Pirates of the Carribean was done well but most of their best stuff was all animated and most of that is pixar. When are we ever gonna see a successful theatre animation Marvel movie realistically. I was never a fan of Comic book games but now they'll ruin them by trying to get a bigger audience by making it family-friendly. Not to mention the comic books will eventually loose their style. This sucks for everyone who likes Marvel especially the stockholders. |

Very dissapointed, as many said, Marvel WAS Sacred, and this is a hard hit for Marvel fans.
I'm feel very bad about Marvel the characters dont deserve to be handled by Disney, I don't like Disney because they only care about kids, nothing wrong with that, but there are ratings to make movies and games for all kind of audiences, but they don't care, Disney is known to be for kids and that won't change, they won't risk making a game rated M I know them, and that sucks because I hoped to get great games like Wolverine in the future but now that hope is gone. |

What NEARLY everybody (except #31 and #49) is missing is that Disney is HUGE. The only "kiddie" stuff they put out is the stuff that directly gets the Disney label.
The biggest thing that this means is that Marvel has more money behind it.
Disney owns Miramax as both 31 and 49 said which put out Kill Bill and No Country For All Men.
Disney also owns ABC and ESPN. Have you had too much Disney Princess in your ESPN? No. Marvel is going to be just fine. |

Well... Activision and Sega are both two pretty good companies when it comes to games, so until 2017, I'm not really worried. I will say that I am a huge Marvel fan though, so Disney needs to do research before making any shitty games...
Imagine it though... Marvel games with Micky Mouse loading screens... Censored graphics and language...

| @31,49,70- thank you for not over-reacting and stating some obvious facts that everyone seems to be missing. All contracts previous to this aquisition remain intact. Spider-man movies remain with Sony, X-Men movies with Fox, etc. Important note: all current creative ideas are to remain intact with Marvel!! The main goal is to expand the Marvel Universe with new ideas and to areas that they are not as easily accessed. AKA- look for new products, not screwing with ones in progress. One of the 1st new ventures already on the books is a Marvel/Pixar movie. The 1st meeting has already happened with director from the Incredible Hulk! Stay tuned and be happy! |

Disney-based Video Games stopped being good after the SNES, with the exception of the Kingdom Hearts games (not so much the plot) and the Mickey and Minnie Magical Adventure remakes for GBA.
Here goes any chance of Iron Man 2 and the Deadpool movie being any good. I expect no less than three musical numbers, every two seconds.

I'm wondering the same as #27. Universal Studios Orlando is built on Marvel characters. They're going to have to change a good 30% of that place now because it has the Spider-Man ride, Hulk, Dr. Doom, etc.
Maybe Disney will open a theme park featuring all Marvel stuff and have it be geared to an older crowd with intense roller coasters. Similar to Six Flags New England with its DC Comics-based rides. |

As many, I'm afraid what Disney might do to Marvel (with all the goodie stuff, we don't want the characters affected).
But I also think good things might come, like with Kingdom Hearts (and I would love to use wolverine to shred Micky).
But if Disney owns Miramax, there might be hope still.
At least we know we'll get lots of new Marvel merchandise, and the toys will come out of Mc Donalds when movies come out.
If we're lucky, we'll have MarvelLand and MarvelWorld theme parks!
We'll just have to wait and see. |
