5 Bands Coming to Rock Band Music Store Next Week

5 Bands Coming to Rock Band Music Store Next Week
Written Friday, August 28, 2009 by Dan Webb

MTV and Harmonix sent out word today that 5 bands will be heading to the Rock Band Music Store next week, including a 5 pack from Talking Heads.

Available September 1st, the tracks will be the usual 160 points a piece with the Talking Heads Track Pack 01 setting you back 680 points. Forget Talking Heads though, Supersonic is a classic... and The Jam... *faints* If they don't float your boat like they float mine, I'm sure A7X and Rage Against The Machine will raise a smile with some of you.

The tracks are as follows:

  • Avenged Sevenfold – “Bat Country”
  • The Jam – “A Town Called Malice”
  • The Jam – “Going Underground”
  • Oasis – “Supersonic” (Live)
  • Rage Against the Machine – “Guerilla Radio”
  • Talking Heads – “And She Was”
  • Talking Heads – “Crosseyed & Painless”
  • Talking Heads – “Girlfriend is Better”
  • Talking Heads – “Once in a Lifetime”
  • Talking Heads – “Take Me to the River”

@3

Google the word "fun" since you fail to understand the purpose of Rock Band DLC. Either that, or go buy the Track Packs, it's the closest you'll ever get to DLC achievements for Rock Band. You seriously sadden me.

Anyways, the selection is awesome again this week. I may have to grab everything again. Honestly can't wait to sing Guerilla Radio, it'll be all talkies but it'll be a shitload of fun.

#3 Really? Achievements are great, I love going for a perfect 1000, it extends replay value in some cases. But to completely decline something because there aren't Achievements? And just what do you think Achievements are going to bring you? Fun looking at numbers? I think not.

I guess I have something to look into next week...but I NEED Harmonix to make a wekk of DLC I don't want- I've been putting off getting the Mass Effect DLC for them...and it's working!

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 11:02:58 AM

YES! Finally some new Rage. One of my favs too. A7F is nice to see too.

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 11:10:05 AM

Hmm. 3 brings up a good point. Every RB song should have an achievement tied to it. Only, there's so many of them they'd have to be 1 pointers. I can see it now: Complete X song on expert: 1 point. Multiplied several hundred times. Sounds perfect.

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 11:16:10 AM

Fail this week. Queen and Elton John or bust.

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 11:20:38 AM

@3: if that happened, then not only would rock band break the achievement barrier, but the number would be a googleplex in a year or so. Please get a life. There a little something called fun, and like comment 4 says, google up "fun" and have a look at what music gaming is meant to be all about

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 11:21:05 AM

WOW! THAT IS AWESOME! RAGE AND AVENGED! IT CAN'T GET BETTER. I just hope they aren't boring to play. I didn't get as good as I am by playing the retard note charts. I want a real challenge...not something that feels forced like the solo to Constant Motion, talk about major overcharting...

Comment #34 by Dead by Don
Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 11:24:09 AM

THE JAM!!!! I had to refresh the page a few times in case I didn't read that right. This is the most excited I've been for a DLC ever, freakin' nuts!

2 Amazing songs and I'm seriously hoping and hopping up and down for more in the future. Modern World, Eton Rifles and That's Entertainment would make an awesome Jam Pack!
Time to make a Paul Weller character LoL

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 11:26:35 AM

Bat Country isn't a great A7X song to begin with. Sure, it's one of their most popular songs, but doesn't go too well with Rock Band.

RATM's Guerilla Radio is BEASTTT!!!

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 12:33:20 PM

@#43 - In your opinion that is. In my opinion, Oasis and The Jam are bigger and more influential bands.

FINALLY some more Talking Heads.

So happy!!!!

Oasis and the Jam have not even a tiny bit of the greatness that David Byrne walks around with.

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 12:46:10 PM

Well at least rockband isn't turning into guitar hero and making 100 new games and just making songs available on the marketplace

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 12:58:14 PM

The Jam - awesome.

Rather have "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight" than "Malice", but about time they have the Modfather and co on this game.

Now i wait for Joy Division's "Transmission" and ill be happy.

Lol the Talking Heads "Take Me to the River" was one of the songs that stupid fake dancing fish sang every time you walked near it, so freaking annoying.

@#37: There's already 2 other songs from Avenged Sevenfold available as DLC, plus one song on the RB2 disc. They're just not sold together as a pack.

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 02:01:42 PM

webb, how about you just report what the songs are and leave your opinion out of it? if you like oasis better than talking heads, that's your prerogative, but trying to claim they're more influential just makes you look like a bonehead. maybe they've influenced more people to throw up...

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 02:22:05 PM

no thanks not for me and @#54 i think Webb has the right to voice his opinion seeing as how he writes these articles and gives us all the information he does. Plus everyone that write to this voices there opinion like you did in your post. thats hipacritical dont you think?

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 02:23:27 PM

Webb, sorry to say, but this week sucks. But everyone has an opinion, even if yours is wrong. :P

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 02:31:05 PM

#55: this isn't a debate on rights. i'm sure he could nuke my ass right off this site if he felt inclined to. the point is that people read these articles to find out what songs are being released, not to find out if dan webb approves of the choices or not. if he wants to continue with the editorial comments, obviously he can, but he should expect to alienate a certain amount of the readers.

Rock Band needs more full albums.
Do tell me if this list of albums might make it in.

Full Demon Days
Full Meteora
Full Stadium Arcadium
Full Mezmerize

Rock band also needs to (along with the already announce DLC) release Beatles DLC FOR Rock Band 2...

ALSO, ROCK BAND NEEDS MORE COWBELL!

#55

You're a retard.
Webb gets a paycheck...
If he pisses everybody off he gets F-I-R-E-D...
Just imagine Andy Mac saying that everybody who plays video games and read Game Informer is a loser. GI would go out of business...

Why does every little 10 year old kiddie think that rights are the be-all-end-all of an argument and that they know laws. You sir shouldn't even HAVE Rock Band as it is rated T for Teen. Go back to your E10+ games junior.

Friday, August 28, 2009 @ 03:16:48 PM

@42, It isn't sarcasm... it's that you all misunderstood his words. He was implying that he won't buy DLC that doesn't have achievements, which is completely legitimate... I wouldn't either, the only DLC I DO buy that doesn't have achievements is for Rock Band but that's because (to me) this game has infinityX2 replay value...

@whoever is caught up in the idiocy of the "forget Talking Heads" comment - Talking Heads is definitely the most influential band on the list this week, and it's absurd to even try and debate that. It was certainly a dumb thing to say, and it clearly offended some of you, but not everyone has the same opinion. Again, wording your opinion in such a way that you piss your readers off is really idiotic, but I usually just try to let it slide.

First of all unlocking achievements is fun, second of all I only buy the songs that are actually good (everybody has a different opinion) and thirdly I have enough songs from GH:2, GH:3, GH:A, GH:WT, GH:M, GH:GH/SM and also Rock Revolution, so why would I waste my precious MS Points on even more songs from bands I have never heard from.

I'm here to report the news, AND offer opinions. I could be a drone if you want, but that's boring for you, and for us.

And those disputing my "influential" comments. I've got a feeling this is another one of those times where nationality plays a part.

Being a Brit, The Jam and Oasis are both more prevalent over here than Talking Heads, who aren't so much. I would say it's the exact opposite for those on the other side of the pond.

I'd even go so far as to say that The Jam were not only more influential than Talking Heads, but they were one of the most influential bands EVER. And Oasis aren't far behind. I would put this down to a culture thing.
