GamesCom 2009: Dante's Inferno Descends in February 2010

GamesCom 2009: Dante's Inferno Descends in February 2010
Written Tuesday, August 18, 2009 by Jason Debelyak

Are you ready to go to Hell?  Well, EA and critically acclaimed development studio Visceral Games (the master minds behind Dead Space) announced that you will be able to do so in February 2010.  North America will receive the game first on February 9, and Europe will have to wait an extra three days (just like Battlefield: Bad Company 2) and will hit store shelves across the continent on February 12.

For those of you that don't know, the game is based on part one of Dante Alighieri's epic poem "The Divine Comedy".  Players will take on the role of Dante as he travels through Alighieri's nine circles of Hell, which are limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery.  In doing this, Dante is driven to save the soul of his love Beatrice, who was dragged through the gates of Hell by Lucifer.

The game will also be backed be a comic book series, which will launch on December 9, 2009 and will span six issues.

Well, looks like I'll get this for my birthday. Aliens vs. Predator also comes out in February, and I'd rather have that.

Not based off the Inferno correctly (English teacher criticism). But nonetheless I am probably going to get this game, being a Commedia scholar, this seems a great way to bring back the Inferno into the eyes of a younger generation.

@#15 If you're going to mock people for being British at least use our language correctly.

It's 'you're' not 'your' and 'their' not 'there'.

Fail.

@#20 Aren't almost all 360 games $60 at release? I don't see why this would be any different. Also, I don't see the problem with the orange blood.

I don't see why everyone's so facsinated with hell. This game looks gross and disturbing.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
