Bioshock 2 Takes on Fourth Developer

The whole Bioshock 2 scenario is getting weirder by the day and today, it becomes apparent that a fourth developer is stepping up to help assist with the project. Speaking to Develop, 2K Marin's Alyssa Finley confirmed that French outfit, Arkane, will be stepping up to help with the game's art.

So that's 2K Marin as the principal developer with 2K Australia assisting development for the single player. Digital Extremes are working on the multiplayer and now Arkane are" assisting in the creation of levels." Talk about a multicultural title ... there's a bit of Canada, America, Australia and France in there now.

Do you think that 2K are aware of the saying too many cooks spoil the broth? Obviously not. Here's praying it doesn't feel disjointed when it ships this October 30th.

  • CoooL!!!
  • First day buy for me!
  • I've a feeling this is going to fail hard compared to Bioshock 1...
  • wellllllll i think the more people that work on it the better it will be
  • I'm not sure this is the greatest news or idea...only time will tell.
  • wel that crazy and this not greatest news i think and hope not be delayed!!!! because mw 2 went delayed
  • man, i agree with you webb, but hopefully that saying wont apply to this game. oh well like someone said already, only time will tell
  • Well...its still looking pretty good, and I hope it doesnt get messed up...heres hoping.
  • HAHA, somebody said that this would be better than Modern Warfare 2.
  • i hope to hell they dont balls this up as the 1st was one of my fav games ever!! still buy it first day though!!
  • @10 it will be but in its own genre as they are 2 very different games, like comparing gta to forza!!
  • @10 overall Bioshock 2 will be better than CoD Moder Warfare 2, i mean only reason people want Modern Warfare 2 is for the multiplayer
  • Having another company do the multiplayer for you is one thing, but I don't like the idea of people splitting up the single player. I'd rather wait another year and be certain it's all up to scratch than have millions of companies getting their hands on it so it can come out this year.
  • @11 Either it's or it's not. The genre doesn't matter. @12 Modern Warfare 2's campaign looks great and is highly anticipated by those who play. The first Modern Warfare had the best campaign of any CoD and I doubt the sequel will fail to live up to the high expectations.
  • Hopefully this just indicates the epic scale of the game. Didn't Rockstar contract projects regarding GTA IV to outside companies? Look at the scale of that game. I don't think this is necessarily bad news.
  • @7 MW2 is not delayed :P
  • I doubt this will have any negative impact on the game. In fact, this will probably make it even better now that there are even more people working on it who will probably have a load of cool ideas.
  • Can't wait for this one.
  • Well, here's to hoping the game turns out well. The first Bioshock was a load of fun and one of my favorite games (to play and replay) and Bioshock 2 has some serious expectations to meet. *crosses fingers*
  • They never should have made a sequel. That being said, 2k should have kept it in-house so as to make sure it at least competed against the original. Four developers is too many and four developers in four different countries is too disjointed. Single and multi will be completely different play styles and the characters and enemies will feel out of place in the level designs. I feel it will take a miracle to save this game.
  • I hope that this game doesn't go in the direction of the Condemned Series. Amazing first game and decent second with unnecessary multiplayer and disappointing Single Player.
  • @ 14 cod 2 was the best campaign and online it was perfect
  • I still need to play the first Bioshock xD
  • The thing about the cook reference is that you don't really know what's put into some food if theres a load of cooks, but with a game you can see and feel the difference so basicly the more the marrier.
  • All of these developers weren't necessary for BioShock before.
  • A couple of things. For all of the people off topic talking about other games besides Bioshock 2 need to shut the hell up. Go to another post or something. Otherwise I can't wait for the story line but more importantly the multiplayer.
  • I'm not sure if i should be thrilled or crippled with fear :P
  • The simple fact this game is going to have multiplayer is turning me away from it.
  • this game better not flop. its not a good sign when the developers need extra help making levels when the game is set to release in 5 months. id rather it be delayed a bit rather than rush a game that not ready yet. hopefully it will be ready on time tough.
  • people are going to say this game is fail just because its a sequel with added multiplayer, its become the fashionable stance to take on such things. if you cant have a little faith in this game after the amazing first one then why even bother keeping track of it, i for one welcome the Bioshock multiplayer, if its done properley the game could have a decent and unique multiplayer, lets just hope that this one is given the attention it needs to become a decent MP contender next to games like CoD:MW2 and L4D2. and i fail to see how more developers is a bad thing, i mean talk about looking for a reason to be dissapointed before its even out.
  • Hmm, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  • Having 4 devs can only mean 1 highly polished game.
  • This means it will be BEASTLY
  • I guess I better get my butt in gear and finish the first one huh.
  • Hmm...
  • I remember they did something like this with Splinter Cell Chaos Theory or one of those... The multiplayer and single player were nothing alike... It was terrible in my mind... I like similarity in the game all around... I hope for the best but it sounds bad to me...
  • England is always getting the shit end of the stick. Why aren't they helping the development with this? That doesn't seem fair.
  • Hope this doesn't get too complicated with all the the devs working on it. Let's hope for no lawsuits and that it doesn't go the way of DNF
  • @2: I have a feeling your feeling is wrong my friend since I have read nothing indicating that this game wouldn't be a very good game.
  • This is either very good...or very bad. But, I don't care, still getting day one, already pre-ordered! Looks awesome!
  • It's going to be an epic failure, but one I will buy anyway.
  • #10 epic fail,if bioshock 1 outsold cod4 why cant it do it again...
  • delayed beacuse of the swine flu and mexican was cleaingn the bathroom and infected it. lol just kidding mexicnas
