A great piece from Develop Mag looks in to the development behind the hugely successful Crackdown and drops the bombshell that Crackdown 2 is not in the works.

The brutally honest Phil Wilson, producer of Realtime Studios, talks about the announcment of the game being extremely premature when the team was "woefully understaffed and over budget". The article highlights the spirit and will power of the team to succeed and boy did it! 1.5 million sales in 6 months with 200,000 copies of Downloadable content sold. Wow! The developers however recognised the huge boost by the Halo 3 Beta as being a big part of that success.

As far as Crackdown 2 goes, apparently Microsoft were too slow up to the plate and other projects were started in the mean time. Oh well, lets hope they haven't put it away forever and that they will open the doors for the comeback in the near future.
