Xbox Live Deal of the Weeks Announced for June

Xbox Live Deal of the Weeks Announced for June
Written Tuesday, June 09, 2009 by Dan Webb

It looks like that Microsoft have heard your pleas and complaints regarding their pretty awful Deal of the Week selections and this month, it's a pretty damn good selection.

June 8th-14th
- Gears of War 2, Combustible Map Pack, 560 Microsoft Points

June 15-21:
Fallout 3, Operation Anchorage, 560 Microsoft Points

June 22-28: Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, XBLA, 800 Microsoft Points

June 29- July 5: Fable 2, Knothole Island, 560 Microsoft Points

Pretty solid discounted downloadable content there if you ask us. Is everyone happy now?

finally a decent list, might get knothole island.

First 3 weeks are pretty good. It's too bad Gears has that announced $20 pack of every DLC, otherwise the Map Pack for $7.50 would be pretty good.

This sort of thing half makes me not want to buy DLC for my games anymore just so I dont pay full price for something that may appear on the Deal of the Week

Damn have them all. :(

I hate Gears of War, I don't own Fable 2 (well, I did, but I traded it as I had it for months and didn't even start it), and I don't want Fallout 3 either. Figures haha

Not bad, all DLC though.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 04:50:17 AM

The prices arent good enough tho, you still have to buy 1000 points if you want the fable/ gow2 content if u have no points already,so MS are still getting ur money lol might get the SF tho, thats not bad.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 04:52:56 AM

I already own three of those, and don't care much for Street Fighter ;(

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 05:08:26 AM

I suggested this idea to Major Nelson a little while ago as well as other people must have. He said he would forward the feedback/ideas on and it seems to have worked. Nice to see :-)

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 05:14:17 AM

Bought time we had some decent discount DLC that is still relevant and not for shit that came out 3-4 years ago like Battlestations.

Might get SSF2THDR (what sort of abbreviation is that? Looks like scrabble!!)

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 05:16:55 AM

The best price cut ever was almost all Oblivion DLC half price, and that wasn't a deal of the week.

Old DLC should drop in price, the fact that CoD2&3 map packs are still the same price as they were when released makes no sense, you could buy the games themselves for those prices.

Comment #18 by Green Day Rock
Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 05:33:33 AM

560 points
that means i have to pay for 1000 still even if im paying 560 rather than 800
microsoft are still making us pay for more points than we need

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 05:34:22 AM

ditto #4 for me except for Anchorage and I have zero desire to go back to Fallout

At least they're listening tho

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 05:34:54 AM

Although I can imagine that it sucks to buy something then a week later see it go on sale,
you can't really complain about bad luck. That's how everything in life is. You can wait for the dvd release to go down to ten bucks at your video place, or you can spend twenty bucks on it when it comes out. I'm a naturally cheap person, so I'm use to waiting on things, like GTA: L&D. Still waiting. Which is fine, I can wait another year.
You just have to accept the fact when you buy something opening day, that it will eventually have a price drop, or you can wait it out like me.

The list for June is pretty nice. I own one, don't enjoy fighting games, and don't own Fallout 3 or Gears 2. But if I did, I would purchase one or both of these.

Comment #21 by Slave of Audio

wait, is the combustible map pack in dark corners when it come out

I knew this was coming eventually. I will be buying this.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 05:56:22 AM

Looks nice. If they were offering Broken Steel at a discount then Knothole Island would be the only thing I'm not really planning on purchasing. Then again, I don't really play Gears 2, but...

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 06:05:32 AM

No, I'm not happy. I already own all 3 of those.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 06:22:03 AM

Pitty that the Fallout DLC wasn't The Pit instead becuase fewer people would have it considering how long operation anchorage has been out.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 06:30:29 AM

I really do feel for all the people who paid full price for DLC, only to see it become a deal of the week soon after. It's happened to me (I don't remember on what), and it sucked. I think Microsoft should do something for the people who bought it before the deal of the week; people who buy it after it ends, they don't matter. lol

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 07:18:32 AM

I guess MS just can't win. On the one hand, this is all premium content. DLC expansions for three of the best selling games this year, and a really good, full XBLA game. On the other hand, because this is premium content, most people who have Gears, Fallout, or Fable, already have these expansions. For people who don't have them, there's already better deals announced for Gears and Fallout (the All Fronts disk, and Fallout GotY ed.). So while I'm happy to see a definate improvement in their DotW selections, it still is not going to help a ton of people.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 12:01:57 PM

only thing I'm missing is Gears 2 stuff and I hate that game plus it's kind of redundant if people are getting All Fronts....imagine the pissed off people going "but I bought combustible already, wtf?!"

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 12:03:11 PM

For the prople that paid full price for the DotWs, welcome to the industry. I paid 400 for my xbox 360 but it was worth the extra hundred to have been playing for the past 3 years.
I agree that old dlc should drop in price permanently. Or if an online mode in a game never has any players it's online map packs should drop too. Stranglehold is still at 15 bucks.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 12:05:01 PM

Definately gonna buy street fighter 2 HD. I've been wanting it for a long time now, and now that it is cheaper, I'm gonna have to buy it.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 12:11:09 PM

Why are most of you whining about buying these already? No, Microsoft shouldn't do anything for you people (like me) that bought almost all of these already. The point of these deals is to get the people who didn't feel like buying these at launch price might consider getting them now.

If you don't like it then don't buy anything until it becomes deal of the week. I'll continue buying add-ons and map packs and whatnot when they release so I can have fun playing them sooner than you complaining children.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 12:23:33 PM

cool, now i will buy Fable 2 DLC

Comment #41 by Dibs No Joust
Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 12:24:30 PM

I'm waiting to buy all the map packs for Gears of War 2 when they come out shortly. No sense in paying for it twice!

Already own the other two DLC packs, though I wish I would've held out on the Fallout 3, I still haven't played it! Too many good games, too little time.
The SFII were fun when they had to be in two dimensions, but fighting games have come too far for me to retain my interest.

That being said, still a huge improvement from previous lists, I hope they keep this up!

Yeah, good thing I still haven't bought any Fallout 3 DLC. I'll definitely be picking up the Operation Anchorage one, even though I don't have Fallout 3 anymore. I rented it, but I'm going to buy it this month.

Would of gotten the 'Knothole Island DLC' if it was 400 points, but at 560 the same price of the 'See the Future DLC' when the ladder is clearly the better of them Ill pass.

Nothing to really complain about with the DotW I guess. Personally, I still think that's too much for a Street Fighter remake, and I don't care for the rest of the games (here it comes). And the GoW maps are going to be cheaper than that soon anyway. But overall it's better than MS has done on some other weeks.

Knothole Island is a handy 200 points but it is very short and not worth the money imo when there is so many other games and dlc to buy.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 06:18:05 PM

Haha awesome. I have been holding out on buying Operation Anchorage, I almost bought it last Friday i think it was with Broken Steel but just opted for Broken Steel to boost my level cap. Will definately get this now.

As for the Gears 2 maps, i'd rather just wait for All Fronts and get all the DLC for 1600 :) I am so glad i haven't been buying most of the DLC for the games i play on Day 1.

Traded in Fable 2 for Gears 2 after getting the 1000 in 4 days. The whole game was a huge disappointment for me considering it's an RPG (only took a few days to complete), i was sucked into the massive hype on that one :(

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 06:18:09 PM

I most likely will get Operation Anchorage even though i wish it went down to 400 and I would get the Combustible map pack if there wasn't the Dark Corners DLC coming out.
