they may have been generous first of all with the freebies but now i feel EA is ripping us off with 800pts for one game mode and now this.

I had a feeling this would be around this price, shame they didn't add 10 achievements like the 10 trophies but it will still be fun to play with friends, can't wait.

12.50 weird price

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 03:09:05 PM

it adds so much and 110 achievement points(6 achievements). its a fair price.

news was leaked yesterday so i already knew :p
and wait for the achievements to come out before you go fussing about it. we know they charge for dlc so there can be achievements.

you cant have free dlc and achievements at the same time

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 03:15:25 PM

@4 - And why can't you have free dlc and achievements at the same time? You can have both at the same time, it's just they won't ever allow that to happen because we're all a bunch of whores and they know that some people will pay anything to get all the achievements for a game. :)

Achievements... by far the greatest marketing scheme since when Coca Cola use to put cocaine in their soft drinks. :p

@2

Agree about the trophy stuff. If they're gonna be homers about a system, make it discrete.

so getting this. I love what they have done with this game, give me all the DLC that you can

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 03:37:01 PM

@7 it's a microsoft rule about achievements and paid dlc.
so that's just it, you can't have both because it's against the rules :p

and my bad its 5 achievements worth 110 points

Smash n' Grab - Drive through 20 Island Smash Gates
Surf Boards - Smash 15 Island Billboards
Island Explorer - Find all 15 Island Events
Crash TV Air Time - Get at least 4.5 seconds Air Time from the Ski Jump
People Person - Complete all 10 Island Freeburn Challenges. These can be completed by 2 - 8 players

i think this is a fair price fr what we're getting, but the cops and robbers and party pack should have been less, like 400 each.

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 03:38:56 PM

To be honest this is well worth the price.
They've given us so much so far for free I think they have a right to charge for it.
I know I'll be buying it.

I think this is a good price for this because you are definitely getting your money's worth. It is pretty awesome that both this and the Iron Maiden Rock Band pack come out this week. A great week for XBLA stuff.

This is a rip off...what happened to the free DLC?
I hope the island is HUGE for this price.

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 03:50:29 PM

@16 - Being a bit greedy don't you think?
We should be grateful in the first place for them giving us some free DLC. Where as they could have easily charged us for it.. I know for sure that I will be buying this, probably first day. Looking forward to it :) Shame I have a Maths Exam on the same day D:

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 03:51:14 PM

I will probably get this, however, i still think the rest of the paid DLC they've released for this game has been a rip off for what you get, I dunno though, cause i still haven't played the new game modes.

This better be good and worth my money or EA will be receiving an angry letter!!!!!!!!

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 05:16:52 PM

@22, its 1000 points, not 1100.

EA has released tons and tons of updates for this game free of charge, I think $12.50 will be totally worth a new island with lots of jumps and some added content.

Plus what is great is when you actually order points... you get them in 500 increments, so it works out really well.

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 05:18:21 PM

This is a great idea, but the price is definitely stupid. If you're going to charge for DLC, make it either 800 or 1000 or something that we can buy with a points card. I hate having to figure out where to spend my points.

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 05:22:45 PM

It's such a great game, I'll buy pretty much any content they throw out there as long as it isn't completely unreasonable. With the extra 600 points on the point card I'm probably buy a few cars; so far I only have the police vehicle DLC that adds Cops and Robbers, along with giving cop skins to around half of your cars.

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 05:23:12 PM

I don't have this game and don't really have any intention of getting it but wow, it seems they really support their game after release! When did this come out?

@16 its going to be the size of downtown Paradise. But it will all play like the Quarry, Airfield. Theres a video tour of the Island on Criterions website. Its a podcast and it also has a narrative of why its turned into what it has.

@33 the first GOW game all the DLC was free and added achievements.

This is a bargain, I was expecting 1200-1600. I think all the other paid DLC wasn't worth the pts but this definitly will be. Hopefully they will add more freeburn challenges later.

Time Shift and Army of Two both had DLC which was free which had GS. But that was way before Microsoft started inforcing their gamerscore rules I guess.

Also, I hope they leave Burnout at 1250... Sick of games with fucked up gamerscore totals.

@4&7 Remember BioShock? Free DLC (useless but still DLC), and a new achievement worth 100 GS. So they CAN and they DID.

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 11:13:52 PM

1000 is less than I thought it would be for a whole new part of Paradise. I think Cops and Robbers was overpriced but I expected this one to be 1200. Good deal IMO.

Monday, June 08, 2009 @ 11:26:24 PM

42: Of course there are exceptions to the rule, but they're only for MS's pet games. And for every exception, there's 10 others that had to omit achievements or had to add a price to their DLC.

This should have been included in the Ultimate Edition. Now I'll have to shell out for the Ultimate Edition and the new DLC. I have played Burnout Paradise, my GF has it, but I wanted to get the Ultimate Edition so that I can play online together with her.

Xbox 360 is an expensive hobby these days !

Hold on... This game has been updated, tweaked and supported for well over a year after it's official release for free, something completely unprecedented until this point. Now they are charging for a whole new island, and people are up in arms? Please.

Midnight Club's South Central upgrade cost 800 points, and added exponentially to the game. Pretty much any bolt on content for games costs. You have had it good for a year with Burnout. Do you think the Criterion staff sit there working on new content for Burnout, looking forward to their monthly pay check of magic beans?

Seriously, reality check please people.

#4...hey liljay ...wrong buddy...have you ever heard of Army of 2 ...yea i seem to remember getting free dlc and achievements for the veteran map pack...your wrong..simple as that

also #42 mentions Bioshock...and he's correct as well....dont open your mind to type if you don't know wtf's up

also, now that i look up the list many other have proven you wrong ... any comments??

10 months LATER, and we have to pay while it has been repeated many times that it would be FREE( yes in capital, like they love to do it...) when they announced it more than a year ago.

I'll buy it, I'll be a stupid consumer; but still, Criterion Games is now in the "A**ho*es" list.

I am quite happy to pay for this, with all the free stuff they have given us.

When you compare it to the likes of Call Of Duty and to an extent Forza 2. No freebies at all with COD and only a couple of free cars with Forza. This DLC is a bargain.

For the guys in the UK it works out at £8.30. (If you pay full price for points !!)

$32.50 for the last 250 achievement points. That's too much considering I bought the game for about $10.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 01:29:44 PM

i don't even have this anymore and agree that something like this can't really be free as everyone needs paying. i do however remember on several occasions on reading on criterions website when i had the game that the new island was gonna be free. So they have kind of let people down by lying about the price of it.

Tuesday, June 09, 2009 @ 03:44:07 PM

I agree with #7 completely.

The problem is if people just stopped whipping out daddy's little credit card to feed their achievement hunger on overpriced dlc, costing much more than the original game itself, rip off prices that have been rearing their ugly heads on the marketplace wouldnt be there. I remember the time when anything above 800msp was unheard of.

Just dont buy what you dont like the price of. End of problem.

rip off, wont be buying it. This island was promised us free and to be released a few months after the game came out, its now 18 months later, still not been released, and they want 1000 points wtf?

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
