Xbox Live and Facebook have just announced their partnership.  Facebook will now be directly accessible from the Xbox 360.  A nifty feature will be to see your Facebook and Xbox Live friends in the same area, so you can add Facebook friends from Live and vice versa.  Pictures are also directly viewed from the dashboard, and will take up your whole TV screen.

You will also be able to update your Facebook status, as well as seeing your friends' updates and adding comments as well.

Facebook Connect is then announced, which will let you post screenshots and texts straight to your Facebook profile in real time.

The Xbox 360 will also allow you to access Twitter directly from your living room. They will both be hitting Xbox Live this fall!

  • very cool!
  • Sick!
  • Eh, I don't use Facebook that much, and Twitter is a waste to me. I don't mind the features because there's always the possibility I'll find them useful, but they better not clutter my UI even more.
  • sweeeeeeeet
  • how about myspace jeez!
  • Wow....just wow. xbox is now the ultimate media hub for everything. I think Microsoft wins hands down..lol
  • YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Finally !
  • i hope its not mandatory to show online my friends list will think i i do is play xbox if they didnt know that already :P and myspace is fro 13 year old girls and pedophiles
  • Grrr, my Facebook e-mail is different to my 360 e-mail.
  • Wow whats the point in having a computer anymore. Stop adding crap on a faulty console. Facebook is fine on the internet, it really doesnt need to be put on the xbox unless your on of those wemo losers that cant live without facebook.
  • not bad not great
  • interesting. Strange that they have a Facebook feature before a standard web browser though!
  • cool!
  • this is great how can sony retaliate
  • Aslong as it doesnt show that im on xbox live allday lol
  • sweet. hmmmm, is there a reason to have a computer now? since i can facebook through live & use netflix as well? i agree with #6. Microsoft is #1 now
  • nice update
  • this sounds good. Smart choice from microsoft picking a popular site like facebook
  • The only cool thing about this is the fact that I can take gaming screenshots for it.
  • I don't use it and just seems pointless to me.
  • Gotta agree with #10, this is utterly pointless.
  • I brought a fucking Xbox not a Facebook/Twitter Machine!!
  • XBOX #1!
  • I'm really glad they did this. Since I have only one internet cord going to my room, I'm stuck having to switch between my 360 and my computer whenever I want to use them ... but soon I won't have to! @#10: How does utilizing a web site make you a "wemo loser?" Grow up, kid.
  • @Badlandz; No one said you had to use or even look at that part of the xbox... Just do what you are doing and everything will be alright. MySpace is dead and one day Facebook too... Twitter is the new shit.
  • Facebook is a strange one as it died in 2007. Well done for Microsoft for jumping on the Twitter bandwagon, like the rest of the internet-savvy people. Twitter is the way forward...for now.
  • I go on bebo soooo :(
  • so who are these people that have facebook profiles, the internet and xbox live but dont have a pc or laptop to access websites on? surely everyone who has the internet had something to browse it long before they bought their xbox
  • Sounds good. Specially if I can do the screenshot to facebook thingy. ~Bryce
  • @7 you sir, are a dumbass
  • I like. And to those who don't like, while I respect your opinions, I'm pretty sure the feature is optional and you don't HAVE to use it, so take a chill pill. Better yet, take one of those chill strips. You put it on your tongue, it dissolves. Chill.
  • Geez, reading comments sometimes on here makes me realize why the game industry "never listens to gamers". All they do is bitch about everything. (well a lot of them anyway) It's a free addition to a system that allows you to integrate your gaming system with the most popular social networking system, and the most popular up and coming one. I may not use it much, but hey, it's cool that if I wanted to I'd be able. To everyone bitching about this free, optional update(s), I hope I manage to grab a screen shot of me owning your ass at some game so I can post it to my facebook. FTW!
  • dont use them but it's a pretty good feature to add
  • Love that Twit-Book, or Twit-Face, at least it's not as bad as having a persistent Face-Twitter.
  • cool feature, love facebook, been on it since year one
  • Get out of here #s 5,25,26,34, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter all that shit is fucking weak man, I wish they didn't do that to my precious system, too much memory for it's hard drive, soon my 120 will run out if they keep this up
