XBLA Wednesday Games & Deal of the Week Announced

Blazing Birds

So as Monday rolls into port once again, we can finally bring you the weekly arcade and Deal of the Week information and unfortunately, it's not all that inspiring. This week sees DLC drop for a game that was released way back in 2006 and two relatively unknown arcade games.

The 3 year old game I talk about for this week's discounted Deal of the Week is no other than Marvel Ultimate Alliance and the content in question is its H/V Pack which will set you back 560 Microsoft Points instead of 800. Another great deal *facepalm*

The first of the two Xbox Live Arcade games is Blazing Birds, which was created using the XNA and won the right to be published on the Arcade service during the Dream-Build-Play contest at Gamefest 2007 and will be available for 800 points. If it won a contest, it must be good ... right?

The second of two, also for 800 Microsoft Points, Gel: Set, Match is said to "offer brain-busting fun for everyone with its unique take on puzzle gameplay. Match colored blocks together and they melt, but throw a melting block into another one and the chain continues!"

	Blazing Birds looks like a cheesy volleyball game. Was thinking of getting MUA but the new copies already come with the DLC so this weeks Deal of The Week is exactly what you said. facepalm :P Atleast I get to save M$ Points for this week.

	YES!!! I can finally get the DLC for Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Sweet!!!! background noise Wait what!? Mom, you traded that in for $6.25 at Gamestop to get gas? Noooooooooo!!!! How could you! Disclaimer : The events in this story are non-fictional and I do not really know how much game stop will give you and I'd actually be surprised if they did offer that much for this game.

	ha some great deals. marvel was a great game but really still 560 for the dlc. make it 250 and i might consider playing this game again

	uh, worst yet by far and I am even more disheartened by comment #2 about the falsehood of the Bionic Commando price (I want to hurt Major Nelson right now). DAMN I "only" bought the Heroes/Villans pack 2.5 years ago (and WHO is still playing that game, really?), and I've never even heard of the two arcade titles. The Bionic Commando promo would've been genius... I would've DL'd Rearmed and bought the new one. Now, no DL and I will rent/buy used the new one. Braid and a couple others were great "Deals of the Week", but if the marketing has ALREADY devolved into "buy the DLC for this crap that we didn't make our money back on".... go suck an egg. 	Very lame indeed. I'm of the opinion that the deal of the week, no matter what it is, including the lameness that it has been for weeks in a row, should be 50% off. Otherwise, not much of a deal, or incentive for me to make the move. If it were 50%, and it was DLC for a game I don't own, depending on the game/content, I might be compelled to go out and purchase said game. However, when its crap like this, SCREW IT.

	Major Nelson said on his podcast it was Bionic Commando: Rearmed, but that was apparently the deal for next week. Ultimate Alliance is fun, but I haven't played it since it came out.

	I might be one of the few people who actually pick up the DotW this week. I picked up Marvell Ultimate Alliance from the used game bin a few weeks ago. Hadn't started it yet, but I've been thinking about picking up the DLC pack for it since I got it. Great timing! ... for me anyway.

	The funny thing is I got Marvel Ultimate Alliance a little while back. Almost got the DLC a few days ago but thought that it might be the thing they'd discount for a DotW. And what do you know.

	@ #14 Lots of people still play Marvel: Ult. Alliance. I'm just one of many. I'm actually going through trying to get two more comic missions complete so I can have my 1250G for it. And even when I have my 1250, I'll still continue to play it until Fusion drops at the very least. It's a good game, despite it's sometimes frustrating camera, and it's worth many replays for the sheer enjoyment of it. I've got a friend on my friend list that has played it well over 50 times through, 40+ plays being on hard, and 20+ plays including me in the fun, all hard mode. However, the fact that they dropped the combo pack a whopping $3 [/sarcasm] is just lame, and it should be a lot cheaper given the age of the game. Should be at the MOST 400 M$P in my opinion.

	Buy the Ultimate Alliance gold edition, if you reside in USA (unfortunately i don't!), and you will spare a lot of money - because the dlc is included and much cheaper that way. Sadly I just bought the Ultimate Alliance DLC for 800 MS not so much time ago... but it was worth it anyway :)

	I already spent 12.800 points last month, if not, more, I got so many games to play and still want more, and more and more but they are not releasing the good ones... why?? now they can have our points and its like they dont want them by releasing games like these and making us crave the games that are supposed to come out now

	Awesome! I was surprised at all the negativity surrounding this week... I'm glad with the Marvel DLC because I just got the game used like 5 days ago(after borrowing it and returning it like 2 years ago)... and those two arcade games sound great... spending week for me!

	Agree w/ #47. I'll get it now because I have the original version still. This DLC "sale" is, sadly, the best way for some to get the remaining 250 points, as it's still much cheaper than buying the gold edition--even from ebay (cheapest price I saw was $11.50). Also, Gamefly doesn't appear to stock the gold edition or I'd go that route.

	These deals are so bad its funny. Why can't they just knock down the prices of XBLA games every week? Or recent DLC such as GOW2 or Halo 3 maps? Microsoft are laughing at the people who buy this crap.

	#34 you and your friend must be the only ones. I repurchased the game a couple months ago to get the co-op achievements, and not a soul was playing online. If you and your always-playing buddy want a third, let me know. Otherwise, this info is pointless.

	So much whining. Anyway, anyone who "traded in" MUA did a bad move, this game is becoming a rarity, as Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the original Xbox is. And MUA is awesome!

	If you buy Ultimate Alliance now, why wouldnt you just buy the Gold Edition anyways with all that content built in. Its the SAME price now seeing how old it is. For me, it was actually cheaper than regular version. LOL #10...awesome

	As everyone is being so negative (as always on this site) i'm actually going to be slightly positive and say i'll give Gel: Set, Match a fair go on the trail version, i enjoy a good puzzle game, and there have been some great ones on XBLA, so you never know, it could be worth a play.

	They should permanently drop the price of there old XBLA games by half. Once you have finished those games there is little replayablity and its not like we're able to trade them in or anything :(

	I got blazing birds for 400MSP and to be honest its actually a really addictive and fun game :) play the trial its good
