Fable II Updated to 1350

Fable II Updated to 1350
Written Wednesday, April 22, 2009 by Alan Pettit

The upcoming See the Future DLC will add 13 new achievements for an additional 250 points. See the Future will be available sometime in May for 560MSP ($7).

Please note: Whenever we add DLC achievements to a game, the checklist for the game will be broken to anyone who was using it before the additions. We do not know the cause, but to fix the glitch, simply delete the checklist (hit the Red X from the "My Checklists" link)  and then re-enable and re-check your achievements. We apologize for this inconvenience.

The Nutcracker  10
Score 25 groin shots, or see another Hero do so.

The Paramour  10
Make love 25 times, or see another Hero do so.

The Concierge  30
Open all the Demon Doors in Albion, or see another Hero do so.

The Visionary  50
Take a look into the future, or see another Hero do so.

The Con Artist  25
Find all 10 of Murgo's statuettes, or see another Hero do so.

The Howler  10
Scare five people while dressed as a balverine, or see another Hero do so.

The Ghastly Jester  10
Make five people laugh while dressed as a hobbe, or see another Hero do so.

The Repugnant  10
Disgust five people while dressed as a hollow man, or see another Hero do so.

The Gladiator  30
Score a total high score of 20,000 points or more in the Colosseum, or see another Hero do so.

The Multiplicator  20
Achieve a multiplier of 10 or more in the Colosseum, or see another Hero do so.

The Combatant  20
Defeat the necromancer in the Colosseum, or see another Hero do so.

The Fowl Player  10
Dress as a chicken and kick five chickens during the Colosseum battles, or see another Hero do so.

The Colourist  15
Collect the dyes hidden in Murgo's magical items, or see another Hero do so.

i understand that some people may appriciate that some developers are 'being creative' with achievements, but as the name suggest, they are achievements, something to get after a tough fight or a long exhausting quest, but what the hell is with dressing up and scaring people. it's pointless and skill is out of the question and it is only there to be hoared up and ignored.. and i bet most people will not buy the dlc for enjoyment...

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 02:47:38 PM

It's not a typo. Fable II already has DLC giving it 1100 possible points... 250 more will equal 1350.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 02:48:08 PM

erm, the total for THIS content is 250, but dont forget fable already has a total of 1100 with the first dlc, so the total is actually 1350 points.

The Fowl Player
"Dress as a chicken and kick five chickens during the Colosseum battles, or see another Hero do so."

Is this achievement going to be doable without getting the chicken costume off fable2.com in that stupid minigame? That is the only way to get it right?

Unless they add it and sell it in a costume shop in albion :)

This is ridiculous, every time I finish a f****** game and get 100% gamerscore, they pull out more DLC achievements from their asses...this is getting so annoying! Plus, it's a rip off for an extra 800 MS points!

well i can't wait personally - even if it is only a few hours of gameplay.

Fable has always been one of my favs just too short, and i don't expect that to change with this expansion.

but a short badass game is still a badass game.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 03:12:48 PM

Anyone else wish all games would just go back to having a set 1000gs? By all means add new achievements but why can't DLC achievements just be for fun and to extend gametime and all add zero score? There just doesn't seem to be any rule now as to how much can be added.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 03:13:12 PM

@ # 28

Quit crying. Only thing getting annoying are people like you who complain over the stupidest things. The achievements are not the reason for the DLC, the DLC is the reason for the achievements. They make DLC for people who enjoy the game and want new things to do. So they add achievements to go along with it. What's so damn wrong about that? If they made DLC and didn't include achievements I bet you'd bitch about that.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 03:14:00 PM

Strange how they're updating games weeks before the DLC releases for them. First Fallout 3, now Fable II.
Oh well, at least it wont be another issue like PoP had, where you can't even get your achievements the day of release because they fail to update the lists.

@ #28
It's 560 points or $7 this time. They're giving us a little break, although with all the problems the game shipped with and time it took to fix them, At least 1 of the DLC packs should've been free in my opinion.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 03:15:21 PM

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 03:16:47 PM

@ #28 please say your joking, your moaning that devoplers are making more content for their games and in turn making our fav games last longer.

and so what if they charge for it you wouldn't go to work and not get paid would you ?

i mean ok some dlc should be free (looking at you res evil 5 :|) but most are started on after or when the game is in its last stages so a few months after we play the game we get more stuff so the game last longer, its not hard.

End of the day you don't like the cost and the fact devs are just earning money (like everyone) then don't buy and keep your selfish comments to yourself.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 03:23:41 PM

@ #32 Which is the exact reason why the Knothole Island DLC should have been free! There were so many problems with the Fable II disc that I bought, I had to exchange it for a new one and guess what? The same thing happened with the new disc! I wound up getting a working disc from Gamefly 2 months later. DLC should just be free unless its an added feature such as Multiplayer only. If they want to add some new game play that's fine, but why do we have to pay for it, they're making the game for us to play aren't they?

@ #31 I'm not complaining over something stupid, a lot of people have issues with the DLC achievements. If they made DLC that didn't include achievements I'd be happier! I'd be happier too if it didn't cost as much or if it was free! It's taking advantage of people just so t

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 03:24:23 PM

@ #31
I see your point and his. The thing is, if they really made DLC only for the reason you list, why would they put more achievements in? Because they know it will sell more if they do, so you're both right.
I really like Fable 2, not as much as the first, but still. I would not have bought Knothole Island and would not buy See the Future if it weren't for the achievements BECAUSE of all the problems/bugs/glitches/etc... with the retail game.
LH and MS know that there's many people like me, that do not want to give more money to a company that fails to release a quality product. Since they know this, they use achievements to get people like me, that have morals/principles, to give them more money.
Again, you're both right.

I understand it's smart business and yes I'm glad they keep putting out DLC for a game they messed up anyway to make it better and add some more playability to it but they could have at least put out the DLC all together, that way you'd spend less money. They should at least put it out as a Part 2 DLC that's free to download for people who purchased Knothole Island, it's they least they could do for messing up to begin with. It's just annoying is all I'm saying and I'm sorry if it offends anyone but that's how I feel.

Knothole Island was a disappointment. Won't argue that, and you would think spending $5-10 is a lot. but consider that it takes them about $100,000 to create it. That includes salaries, marketing, licensing... all that good stuff. Possibly even more. So not only do they have to sell $100,000 worth of DLC to break even, then need to make a profit so continuing making new DLC is worth it and a good investment for them. Everyone wants a break with money these days, I'm not a rich guy. hell, I don't even have a job. But this isn't about DLC costing so and so, it's about people complaining about a games possible gamerscore. Who cares? Its more to collect for people. They got it in their head they are paying for gamerscore. that's only if you are getting it for the achievements and thos

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 @ 03:48:15 PM

*sadly shakes head*
No, Lionhead and MS are not ripping anyone off, it is ok for a company to ask for payment for product(Exception: Resident Evil 5's Versus, that WAS a rip off, they even admitted that all the download did was unlock DISK CONTENT that was already present! Bitch at Capcom for that though.). No, they cannot release all the DLC at once, because if they did then the release schedule would come far too late and they may not recoup the development expenses from lack of interest. No, I do not think that the original MS Achievement rules make sense as the obvious financial benefit of adding achievements to DLC released renders said rules pointless.

Take more than two seconds to think about this stuff guys, it isn't that hard, it all makes sense.

@42 No one is forcing you to buy the DLC. MS doesn't say you have to have 100% gamerscore in every game. Just because you believe something doesn't make it true. Your saying MS and LH know they are releasing substandard products because you believe theres so many people that think the way you do, but they will keep buying it? Any company would fail with that plan.

I would say that only 10% of the 360 population actually cares about Gamerscore if that(based on my friends list of 60 people 6 only play games for GS) and none of them played this game. While there are a bunch of people who agree with you its not realistic to think you have that much power over a company because in the end they will sell to the 90% who don't care about achieves.

Freaking MS, stop making games go over 1250! We need a limit made, seriously! May as well make it 1500 at this rate, and have Halo be the only 1750. Or maybe Gears 2 as well, considering that probably already has achievements ready to pass 1500.

I'm getting insanely sick of your inability to read and/or comprehend what you do read and then attacking others for their opinions.
I mentioned NOTHING about 100%ing a game. I agreed and disagreed at the same time with 2 people who are arguing.
I stated that due to all the bugs/glitches with the game (if you'd been to the LH forums you'd have seen the double digit page threads) from hundreds of people experiencing MAJOR gitches and bugs. You would have seen my conversation with a dev where the dev stated they knew the game was not finished and had major issues at the time of release, but the publisher, MS, forced release.
Learn to read or PM me your address so I can come help you learn. I'm sick of you.

The title is not a typo.
It is 1350 because they released the previous DLC worth 100 points thus bringing it to 1350 with the addition of this 250.

Anyway,
This DLC looks a little more in depth then the first one.
This makes it more worth it when I borrow it from Blockbuster. I traded this game in because of its weak Gameplay, sadly.

Those who are wondering about the Demon Doors... More than likely there is one or two more in the DLC, that way, if you unlocked the others, you still have two more to do. Then when you do those, you get the achievement.

At least, this is my theory.

The Demon Door achievement obviously means there will be new Demon Doors.

#23 good Q, but after all the uproar about the pub games/ .com items initially, i'd say it'll get added to a shop somewhere.

Demon doors? Fuck off. Thats bullshit, you have to do everything so specific to even open. My temple of shadows is dead and i can't open that one, plus all the others i can't open. If there's on chiev i won't get for that game, it's that one.

Unless it's in the dlc, then i'll be happy.

Why must everyone complain that games go over 1250 points? Does it really matter? On another topic, what kind of price is 560MSP?! Why couldn't they make it a nice even 500? Absurd.

These are absolutely STUPID and not worth the time. It was such a great game, and I like looking at my 1100, why not leave it alone? For 7 bucks, this is just jerking around with our intelligence.

I'm actually quite pissed off they pulled these cheevs out of their ass.

Now that F2 is part of the new Elite ($399) purchase along with Halo 3, as well as F2 winning recent awards, this is just milking the cow dry. And THAT pisses me off.

No way on this DLC for me. I wish we could create an all out boycott against this aftermarket DLC greed. One time is perfect. But double & TRIPLE DLCs coming at us. No thanks.

This Is Annoying Me Now!..

Not the DLC, I think its great, easy enough achievements and i get to play one of the best role-playing games i've played so far.

Whats annoying me, is the fact people are actually moaning about it being 1350 and 560MSP.

Whats wrong with that, we get extra gamerscore and its cheaper than almost every single DLC out there at the moment. So what if the GS looks odd. If your a completionist like me, you can look at the 1350 and know you have 100%'d that game, so that satisfys me enough. I dont care if it looks wierd or that people will think that i havent got 100% on the game because its only 1350.

Also.. 560MSP Is a bonus. Another great reason to buy it.

I work for MS and you are absolutely 100% right when you say that we released a game we knew wasnt finished. You would think that this would be a bad move which would damage the franchise, limit how much DLC people might buy etc. However if you think this you are forgetting two important things: 1) GamerScore 2) The fact most people are *stupid*.

You see we knew that all we had to do to get people to buy our DLC (which is actually even less finished than the game itself) was to tack on a few easy achievements and bingo! All the idiots (see 2 above) would rush out to buy it unable to bear the thought of missing out on those preccious GamerPoints. So now we can retire to our luxurious castle made of gold and laugh heartily at how clever we are and how stupid everyone else is.

The only way our dastardly scheme could possibly fail is if there was some way that the public could decide if a piece of DLC was worth their money or not. Thankfully we made sure that every piece of DLC released had to be bought otherwise the non-purchasers xbox would explode (see project RROD).

Thanks for all the $$$ suckers! MWAHAHAHAHAH!

I never understand why people complain about DLC; nowhere does it say you have to buy it, and regardless on what you may think the following stands out:

1. Of course they would prefer to charge for NEW content - they are a business at the end of the day. I have no problem with NEW content being chargeable, it's when DLC comes out within weeks of games being out that I have a problem, as that is deliberately holding back features to profit.

2. At least they are supporting the game sans release - games are expensive, and I do think it is good that they try to add some longeivity to sustain that purchase.

And breaking the usual basic 800 pointmark is nice to see too, but people would seem to prefer to whinge that it is chargeable at all, or that it will ruin their 100% GS.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
