Assassin's Creed 2 in May's Game Informer [Cover Art Inside]

Assassin's Creed 2

After this week's Assassin's Creed 2 teaser hitting the net with the April 16th date and Game Informer hint, and Andy McNamara's "cryptic" tweet regarding the next Game Informer cover game, I think it was safe to say what Game Informer's May game was.

Game Informer writes:

"In Assassin’s Creed 2, players take on the role of Ezio, a young noble whose family was lost through rival ruling families' betrayals. In addition to the new character, players are going to get to explore a new setting: Renaissance-era Venice. What else is going on? Well, you’re going to have to pick up the May issue of Game Informer if you want the complete story on Ubisoft’s latest."

So new setting, two blades (awesome!) and a new character. Excited much?

	Already loving it, @3 BY main character do you mean Altair or Desmond? Altair is long dead by Renaissance times but who knows about Desmond, I'm loving this story, and dual Assassin Blade, EPIC!

	@#3 My guess has always been you will play as Desmond in present day. It's been a while since I've played the game, but that kind of looks like Desmond to me.

	Looking forward to this game but does anyone know when this game will be released? Hopefully it's this year. I just hope that there is a bit more variation to the game this time instead of doing the same things over and over like in the first game.

	Assassin's Creed was the surprise game for me last year. I was expecting an action title, and what I got was a freeroaming game with an intense storyline. If the second game fixes the repetitive gameplay, I'll pick this up.

	@ #3 and for anyone else: the 1st was around the time of jesus the 2nd is around the Renaissance era - in venice thats over 1500 years distance Altair was dead and buried a bloody long time ago! even so, looks amazing! 2 blades!

	@#13, The first one took place around the 1300s, during the height of the Templar influence in the holy land, hence the storyline. The Assassins and the Templars did not exist around the time of Jesus, which was about 1300 years prior, just an fyi. The Renaissance period is about 200-300 after the first game. By the way, this look cool. Definitely agree with the earlier comment, I hope they fix the repetitive play.

	The first game was not repetitive at all,lol i think people need to look up the meaning! The game played with a free roaming ability with the option of controlling the character and utilizing his moves the way you want and thats repetitive,lolol!! cannot wait for the second game as it will be mine MUUUHUUUWAAAAHHHHAHAHAHA!!!

	Looks awesome. Guess it isn't a sequel from the last games characters, but I expect there to be some similar content that ties the two together. Almost looks like a cross between Altair and Dante.

	im gonna have to admit im a little dissapointed with the whole Renaissance era. i will still get it no doubt, but they way they ended the first one they really made it seem like the next one would be you being an Assassin in the future because Altair was synchronized with the subject (i cant remember if he had a name), and that we might get some idea of the world outside those walls/very bright windows. no doubt it will still rock, i just prefer things futuristic....

	Wow this is going to be sweet I'm sure.The first one was pretty sick the way you could run around and shank people. Balls! The ending of the first one showed that someone had been in the room before Desmond.Atleast thats what I got from the blood on the walls.So maybe this is a prequel-sequel!!

	#24, Examine the objectives of that game with each new region that was unlocked and then look up the term "repetitive" in the dictionary. I do not think Desmond is dead at all. The new character will simply be another descendant of Altair, just as Desmond is.

	Actually, rethinking my idea, unless the Assassins somehow moved operations to Venice (possible, not the furthest of distances from the original setting) then I am completely wrong as a descendant of Altair being in Venice would be slim otherwise.

	Looking at the picture it looks like you will be most likly be playing as a more recent ancestor to desmond, obviously there will be a connection as he is wearing the same eagle inspired head gear.

	@59 - it probs because it got repetitive too early on. I'm playing through the game at the moment and i'm enjoying the concept. The storyline is alright so far aswell.I would like different tasks this time around and hopefully less flags to get. It's a pain when you pick up 1 by accident without trying and then forgetting where you got it from so you cant keep track..Hopefully this 2nd one will be great.

	#61, if you study the magazine cover closesly you will see that he still hass all of the fingers on his hands. The teaser trailer also shows the mechanism working and the hand in that has all of the fingers. Such wild technology they have created. They'll have sliced bread next.

	for assassin's creed 3 you should get to play as Desmond(the current living character in the bloodline of assassins in case you did'nt know) and roam around the city with guns and an updated assassin suit, hunting down templars and preventing them from finding artifacts. This could make for an awesome finale. Desmond might be able to find out more about his bloodline too.

Looks like the guys down at ubi's marketing department struck gold when they put 2 wrist blades in the game, as judging by the responses so far, a game character is cooler if he has two swords/daggers/blades/other instead of just one. Looking forward to picking this up providing there is more variety.

	actually the first gave you many hidden abilities that aren't taught to you in the game or in the game manual. Abilities such as grabbing and throwing people off cliffs and bridges and into vendors' stands( which would make them collapse and kill the vendor) I know this dosen't make the game much more fun but its kind of cool to figure new things out on your own.

	That looks sweet. I didn't like the first one because it was all repetive and running from gaurds sucked because they could ALL do ALL the same moves as Altier. Seriously, I would leap around like a professional free-runner and they could still follow me doing the same exact moves as me! So all the running on rooftops and leaping around became boring to me because it has no advantage and just resorted to running through alleyways and cutting corners and then finding the first peice of cover, but all the citizens on the benches would stand up so I no place to hide and then the gaurds would catch up to me and I would have to try and out run them AGAIN.

	Can't wait, first one was superb! Slightly disappointed as thought it may well have been set in Japan, but still a great timeframe to put the game in. To those who (somehow) haven't put 2+2 together, Altair & Desmond were related, no doubt AC2 will be another member of the same bloodline, not too hard to work out to be fair. Just need us a release date now please Ubi . . . . .

	Thinking about the intact fingers issue, they must have changed their methods across time. If you remember Lucy unveiling her true allegiance, she closes her ring finger to symbolise herself as an Assassin to Desmond. But her finger was still intact, perhaps as the Assassins were hunted down by the Templars, the Assassins developed a new mechanism for the blades in order to make themselves less identifiable.

	In case anyone doesn't know by the way, "It has been revealed that Ezio will be able to use Da Vinci - designed wings for gliding, two hidden blades, nine different weapon types, and the character will have the ability to swim" He can fucking fly. :D ...undecided whether that is better news than instantaneously sinking at the first sign of water.

	Sweet God! The first game, for me, was an all-time classic. Despite 1K-ing it a long time ago, I just threw it back in to go around town onna killing spree for the hell of it. Can't wait for this one--easily the most anticipated title of 2009!

	What number 130 said. The first one sucked balls. Boring, slow paced, boring, repetitive, and did I mention boring? The second one looks just as gay. The only thing good about the first one is it makes a good frizbee for my shotgun. Ill pass and all you should too.

	The first one was repetitive in the sense that if you were banging out all the achievements, you needed to do each thing in each city, which was the same in each city, you needed to murder X amount of guards, you needed to pick up flags, you needed to save the towns people from menacing guards, all that stuff was repetitive. What I liked was the "boss" fights, where you had to execute your target, that never got old. With the story that accompanied each target kill, it really made the game as bad ass as it was. It really was not repetitive if you were just playing through, but if you were grinding achievements, then it got to be a painstaking task. If they can weave an excellent story in the squeal, much like they did for the first one, I certainly will be a happy customer. I'll even

	The first one took place in 1191 (hence the achievement) and the renaissance took place in about 1300 ... nice! I hear that it is going to be a trilogy... I wonder when the third will be placed? during the Industrial Revolution I hope. =D

	LOVED the first game, can't wait to get my hands on this. @26- Yeah I imagine they'll tie in somehow. At the end of the first one, when you can use eagle vision or something (haven't played it in a looooong time) and there's all the writing on the wall... that all means something. Look it up on the internet, its quite interesting! Very very clever too.

	AC1 Is amazing, I can't wait fo AC2. Did anyone else notice there was a set of fold-out wings there at the end, maybe they will incorperate da vinci's flight machine into it. Intsead of high spots you can have a glider that folds out from your back?

	You people that are saying it is 1300 are close. The exact year of the first game was 1191. It says on the first page of the game book if you have it. I don't know if anyone mentioned that in a post above.

	This....theres just no words to describe the intense feelings of mine right now....lol! ezio is most likely one of desmonds ancestors. he sounds pretty cool. but someone broght it up before what actually happned to the person before desmond,the first animus tryer? there was blood on the walls. and at the end of the first the stuff on the wall was dates and stuff of the end of the world, like in mayan and jewish. i like renasiance venice,it sounds cool. i gota finish number one though. i only know this stuff from the internet and the game guide from prima.i like the davinci gliders and the 2 hidden blades practically made my heart stop. his hidden blades were my favorites. by he i mean altiar. how do i change my gamer pic on this website, im new?

	I really liked the 1st one even tho the repetative level was high.. and the 10,000 flags you had to find. If they keep the game controls, scenery / graphics, and fighting the same then it will be a good game.

	The only thing about all this stuff out there about the new weapons, cool charachter, better missions,and other stuff as that in an origional trailer for the first game, as well as on the actual case for the game,the guy had a cross bow that could mele and an ax hung at his side. The picks and videoes might just be BS. I'd just wait till the official review untill we all start jumping to conclusions about epicness. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble.
