Halo 3 Passes One BILLION Games Played Written Tuesday, March 03, 2009 by James Parkin This week's Bungie update showed some amazing stats for Halo 3. Last Saturday night, regardless of what you were doing, the one BILLIONTH Halo 3 game was played. Yes, you read that correctly. Since launch, there have been over one billion Halo 3 matches played. Here are some other stats (stats are accurate as of the Bungie update):

The majority of gears games last around 30 - 60 mins so that was never going to have mores games played. Only one good thing has ever come out of halo and thats halo wars... I dont no how such an average game that has gone nowere since halo 1 has been so big. Im not saying that halo is a poor game but it is average in every department (4 player campaign was good) |

Halo 3 got so big because its an average game so average people like it. Casual gamers are the reason it sold so many copies and so many games were played. And Halo 3 can't be a poor game, average in every department. How many games had 4 player co-op before it? How many console games had a map editor? How many console games could take video/pictures? I agree competitive multi is garbage and hard to get into, but all the other aspects make me say it is a great game. The picture only cam is terrible in gears 2 along with its multi they should of never changed multi from gears 1. |

It's a fun game, but to me the online never was a main attraction, simply just more of the game design to explore. Perhaps when it's all over, the total games played might reach 1.5 billion, but that's still a long way away unless Bungie releases map packs on a regular basis. |

And just because Halo has earned this feat doesn't mean I'm proven wrong, because of the fact that it is so overrated a lot of that time came from: people who couldn't (or didn't) buy another worthwhile game, retarded people, people who played then stopped then played again because of boredom, people who only played because their friends played. All in all I'm not saying Halo 3 doesn't deserve this, it truly does and I have got plenty of good memories with this game and still play it occasionally. |
