The Lost & Damned - A HD Look at its Biggest Features

The Lost & Damned - A HD Look at its Biggest Features
Written Wednesday, February 18, 2009 by Dan Webb

Not got GTA IV's The Lost and Damned yet? Wondering whether it's worth the 1600 point investment? Well, fear not, while we've been revisiting Liberty City this week, we decided to focus on a few of the downloadable content's biggest changes and additions.

We decided to focus mainly on the bike riding mechanics of the new content; so whether it's the general improvement to the feel and handling of the bikes, the new leader mechanism or even better, the road rash style races. All of which are mighty additions in their own right and to finish of, we thought we'd show off the awesome Lost safehouse.

Still not sure after seeing the new vids? Check out our review shortly.

Not quite as long as I'd hoped for....though a game of this caliber would be hard to give me the length I'd want. Yes, worth 1600 points.....and got my butt back to playing this game!! Now just need to go back into the main game, and get those last 2 pigeons I missed...

This episode is definitely worth the 1600 points with how much it adds to the game. If you've got the points, get it!

the car handling is just right since games like saints row 1 take handling too the extreme of easy a bit of a challenge can only be good

#10: There is nothing wrong with the car mechanics. Why does everyone keep bringing this up? Better cars handle better, crappier cars spin out. And if I know a gamer, we LOVE to lay the Right Trigger down, which in the game is equivalent to putting the pedal-to-the-metal.

If you drive the car properly (Think gradually accelerating instead of full acceleration right off the bat), you'll see just how well they did the physics in GTA4 compared to 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.

From the looks of it, the only thing it seems they've improved about the bikes is the inability to get knocked off. Watched through the first three quarters of the first video and noticed at least a half dozen times he should have fallen off his bike from hitting objects or landing the jump nose down.

From what I have seen of the avobe videos, they have made the handling on the bikes too easy now. The bikes were easy enough to handle before (as were the cars) and now it looks as though you can ride with a lot less caution which IMO will make riding the streets that little less tense. Ho hum.

Looks good though and I'll be buying it once I get a new HDD for all the DLC coming out recently !

At first I must say I was blown away. The first mission was awesome and the second one was great. I'm taking my time as I always do in GTA games trying not to rush through it. I like it, at this point I'd say it was worth it.

I really am disappointed by the lack of 100% achievement for this though and I was hoping for more creativity with more bike orientated stuff.

Overall, they summed it up - If you love GTA, don't hesitate. Time to get back into it.

Does anyone else have no interest in even the coolest cars now? The sawed off shotgun is the f***in' sh*t!

#15 Yes there is a problem with the handling, it got nothing to do with acceleration but with turning. All the cars wobble unnaturally and the tires are slippery, it's not a single car that 9 out of 10 times will hit the pavement running into lightpoles when you do a powerslide. I miss the handling of the Elegy in San Andreas.... Because of that car I played the game months later just driving around, but GTA IV removed that joy.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
