The Lost & Damned Now Available

The Lost & Damned Now Available
Written Tuesday, February 17, 2009 by Dan Webb

The hugely anticipated downloadable episode for Grand Theft Auto 4, The Lost and Damned, is now starting to show up in Xbox Live Marketplaces worldwide.

The episode, that weighs in at a whopping 1.78Gb should now be visible to those in America and the UK at least (that's all I know 100%) and should be available or appearing soon in the rest of the world, but if it's not showing for you, be patient, Major Nelson reported a 10 am GMT time on his Twitter earlier.

Guess what? Download speeds are quite healthy at the moment as well ... 10% in about 5 minutes. So don't hesitate ... or, wait 30 mins until mine is done.

Still think 1600 Points is too expensive? Want to know whether it's worth your hard earned cash? Check back tomorrow for our review.

Just purchased it in the UK though it isn't advertised guys so you'll have to go to game marketplace and look in new arrivals =]

@ #1 - The DLC is effectively a new game so I doubt 13 pounds, 19 euros, or 20 dollars is classed as too much money.

I just don't think some people realise the scope of the DLC. It's got 7 new multiplayer modes, yet people don't grumble when they pay 800 points for 3 Gears of War maps!

@#3 i've been waiting for this content for months and they've made it sounde better every day I just have to wait for it to download now 30%. I hope the soundtracks good I haven't heard any details about it yet.

Why would people buy DLC for this game? It is the worst GTA around another disapointing hyped up game. And i was well in on the hype i couldnt wait. other peoples opinions i guess but i dont see how it is better than vice city or san andreas...

I'm not considering this as DLC, it's much more like a full game. 13 quid for a game add on, that after 10 or 11 hours worth of playtime, finishing the main story - you still have 2 or 3 hours left to do. Plus new multiplayer, new vehicles, new weapons, new music, new internet and TV. All for a meagre amount of money.

As stated earlier, people will happily pay 800MSP for less than a handful of mediocre maps for mediocre games like GoW and CoD. Yet anything more than 800 and fanboys piss their pants with outrage.

Bottomline, if you enjoyed GTAIV, you'll spring for the DLC, of not, you won't, I really don't see the point of people who don't/didn't like the original saying, 1600 points, what a waste.

I think you are getting a lot of value for your 1600 points, new vehicles, missions, weapons, music, its a lot of content, especially when you compare it to the really, really shallow Fallout 3 content.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009 @ 06:03:56 AM

@ webb i have to agree with you it is basically a breand new game. I'm thinking about buying GTA 4 again just to download it( i sold it after i got 100% completion). Maps are way too expensive but i always trust rockstar with everything that they promise and i just know that this won't be a let down.

The only arguements I have heard for not buying this game is

Too Expensive, well to be honest this to me is the first proper expansion pack I have downloaded which is not just one level and expansions in the UK usualy cost around £15-20 so this is a bargin as expansions go.

GTA IV is (insert negative comment)- Well thats a matter of opinion and my opinion is that GTA IV gave me hours of fun.

Only 250GS- When you buy games juding of the gamerscore then well, you really have lost site of what gaming is all about. Sure I like going for achievements but my main source of fun is the game in the end, achievements merely extend the life of games or an added bonus.

It will only take a day to complete- I have bought full priced games that have only taken me a day to complete so...

Tuesday, February 17, 2009 @ 07:49:28 AM

Sorry, but like many others before me have said, this is too expensive, at least for me. I can understand if you love the game and want the additional storyline. I am one of those "fanboys" that will buy anything that comes out for GoW. But I'm not THAT much into GTA:IV. I beat the story and was quiet satisfied with it, although after not playing it for some time I can't find myself going back to it. Sorryyy....

Just finished downloading it before I left for class. Took roughly 20 minutes to download. Can't wait to get back to my xbox and play. 1600 points is a great deal considering what you are getting. No one should be complaining about anything. If you enjoyed GTA IV, you will enjoy this. If you didn't, then shut up and stop bashing the price tag.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009 @ 08:18:52 AM

If you can't drop 20 bucks for a great game to make it greater, then pass this up. But for almost 2 gigs of content, 7 multiplayer modes, new weapons, vehicles, and music? Sold. This is what DLC should be like, full of extras and worth every cent.

If you hate GTAIV, then don't bash it and save your money. Now that the DL has completed, I leave you all to play. Cheers.

See I'm not a Halo fan, so when they release Halo content, you won't find me on here saying "it's not worth 800MS, that's too expensive".You know why? Cuz I DON'T CARE FOR THE GAME!

It never ceases to amaze me with some of you guys. Anyways, back on topic. I'm downloading it right now and can't wait to get my hands on it. I haven't touched my GTA disc in months, I'm so glad there's now fresh stuff to play with. You gotta love DLC baby!

I love fallout- alot. but lets be honest- that operation anchorage DLC cost 800 points and it lasted 3 hours tops. This costs 1600 points and is roughly TWELVE hours. If you people want to be cheap and miss out- your loss.

The money isn't important if you really like the game. I also thought that the DLC for Fallout 3 was a little overpriced for 2-3 hours of content, but I love the game so it was a must buy. 1600 points for this DLC is good value as it is like a new game, I personally didn't enjoy GTA4 but if I did I would definitely get this.

I'm at 79%. Killing time is hard. GTA IV is one of my favorite Xbox 360 games, I don't see how some people can actively dislike it so much. I guess all of the kids on the block actively show a disliking of GTA IV to try and look cool in front of the other kids who actively show a disliking of GTA IV. Once a mentality becomes socially correct on the internet, there's no stopping it.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009 @ 12:03:35 PM

I have to agree with the pricing of this. Basing it off of everything else, this is definitely worth the 1600 MS points. Yes, I think Operation Anchorage was overpriced given the length, but it was also just great to have some additional Fallout 3 content. Also, the added bonus for completing it were pretty cool too. Given the length of this, the achievements, the MP (which personally, I could give or take) this is a steal, despite what so many seem to think. And by the way, what's with everyone's DL speeds? This took all of 15 minutes to DL to my console.

even though I spent the money to download you have to realize the reason why people are mad about the price is because we spend 60$ dollars a game if not more for the collectors edition and then pay for their DLC and the economy is crap right now. So I can see why people are angry but at the same time the company thrive for our mone otherwise they wont be in business. It's a bad world out there right now folks.

this is the equivalent of 1/3 of gta4 and 1/3 the cost, so don't think your just getting a few maps like that disapointment gow. don't get me wrong, im not getting this for a while but this is dlc the developers spent months on, not just importing a charecter from another game ahem SC

id say 800msp for this is way too cheap 1600 is a fairly well made price but i would have thought it would have been more interesting if they made it 1200 or 1400msp

p.s is the L4D DLC free? coz thats what ive heard.

The DLC is well worth 1600 MS points. I already beat it, but it took over 5 hours and 30 minutes. That's just the story. I haven't started all the extra stuff or played the new online modes yet. This is a must get if you're a GTA fan.

i don't think even buying this well help give GTA4 get a better score, plus is too much for something that only last about 3 hours. sorry but i give the Lost & Dammed a score of ZERO's.

I think it's worth the $20. It's a tad short if you rush it, but just make sure to do a good mixture of all of the activites available to you, and you won't be disappointed. The fact that certain online features were removed was a bit disappointing, but it has it's own unique aspects which make it a wonderful addition to the original IV. 9/10 for me.

If anyone is still on the fence over whether to spend the money on it, let me just say it's well worth it. It is, as some others have said, basically a new game. Think of it as a proper expansion rather than just a few tacked on missions. I've payed 1200 points for stuff that hasn't lasted half as long as this has and I'm only halfway through the story & haven't touched the new multiplayer stuff.

Overall the TL&D is pretty good, it's about as different from 4 as san andreas was from vice city, it actually does feel like a different game rather than just a handful of added missions. The new stuff on the radio is additions to the current stations rather than new stations, LCHC not only has good death & black metal now but it's hosted by Max Cavalera, Liberty Rock Radio also has a bucket

load of new tracks and they've gotten Iggy to record some more links. There's air hockey (that I haven't found yet), a high-low card game, arm wrestling (aka: Furious right thumb stick waggling), new races where you can win by skill or by beating the opponents with a stick as you're riding.

The new characters are pretty good, some good laughs in the dialogue. I've also seen a few of the missions that intersect with the GTA4 ones, notably the mission where nico & playboy go to a drug deal for elizabeta that turns into an ambush, the character you play was also with them on that one & you play it from his persepective this time

You mean... Halo straights? Well, personally, I like both GTA IV and Halo 3. I will buy this DLC absolutely but I still have the normal story yet to finish...

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
