Left 4 Dead Survival Pack to be Free

Left 4 Dead Survival Pack to be Free
Written Wednesday, February 11, 2009 by Dan Webb

Valve today announced, via their Steam Store, that the upcoming downloadable content for Left 4 Dead will not cost a penny.

The "Survivial Pack", which is set to touch down in the spring will feature versus mode map play on both Death Toll and Dead Air, whilst introducing players to a survival mode.

No one can complain at free, but we're still itching for some new maps. Hey Valve ... we have money for new maps too ... exploit us dammit!

Good to hear though, because I am willing to pay for new maps, but not for these. Thankfully, I won't have to!

So excited to play more online maps though!!

Great they made what should be a update into free DLC lol. That's the only way Microsoft would allow them to let it be free. I can imagine the pitch meeting, "I've got something to make everyone happy, Instead of releasing everything we promised our fans we will release a little bit and then the rest they can pay for. PLEASE MICROSOFT its for the fans."

That was a smart move Valve. Give yourselves a pat of the back. That puts a few smiles on the faces of disappointed gamers.

Nobody can refuse a bit of free DLC, and this disappointing pack sounds even better now its free.

I'll be purchasing this. At least I can save my money now, there's too much DLC flying around in one time and I dont know if I'll have enough left!

-COD5 Map Pack
-THREE Fallout 3 Mission Packs
-Left 4 Dead Map Pack
-GTA IV: The Lost and the Damned
-Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack
-And probably plenty more.

There's over £50 in there

Just because it is free on steam, DOES NOT mean it will be free on Xbox Live. The team fortress 2 updates are free on steam but Microsoft says if they release them on the 360, Valve has to charge money and that is why they aren't released on the 360 yet.

I hope there's at least an achievement for getting so far on the survival mode. I was really hoping for Ravenholm from HL2 for a new level.

Thursday, February 12, 2009 @ 02:36:29 AM

The new survival mode sounds interesting if nothing else and if it is free as well then you cannot complain.

I'm still of the mindset where you buy the game and that is all I am expecting to get, DLC is like an extra flake in my icecream cone, whether chargable or free its always an unexpected surprise.

Stop being so demanding and take what is offered with some sort of gratitude

Thursday, February 12, 2009 @ 03:16:47 AM

Thats great as i wouldn't spend points on what should already be in the game, but the survival mode sounds way to much like Horde from Gears 2 which i don't play that much as it gets old fast if it all you do, but it will make the kill 53500 zombies a lot easier, untill the tanks come every 10 waves

Thursday, February 12, 2009 @ 03:27:12 AM

Yay! Good job this is free. It would be overpriced to 800 pionts. Anyways the servival mode sounds like the Zombie Mode from CoD 5. Lets hope for more maps.
