Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live will be free between February 17th and February 22nd, when playing either GTA IV or the new and upcoming DLC, The Lost and Damned. | ^^^ just so your aware, the marketplace is getting alot of traffic. as an example - 3.8 million songs are downloaded each month from RB and GH alone just on the 360. COD4 has hit 11 million (unique users total, not at once) thats the same as as many ppl playing WoW. MS doesn't need to try and lure ppl into Live. | ||

| There are plenty more games than that. Of course, a certain amount of taste goes into that. I loved Eternal Sonata, though, glad to see someone else talk about it. Of course, I wonder what the hell this free Live week is going to accomplish. If someone doesn't have Live, playing the online mode of GTA4 won't persuade them to get it. | @16 Yes, those are great games to play w/out needing a LIVE account (my fellow gamers have already pointed out games you somehow failed to mention) - but there are so many more games that will never get old or lose their replay value b/c of a strong multiplayer experience. | Am I right in thinking, from reading the article, LIVE will be free between 17th and 22nd, but you can only play GTA4 online? If so, that is a really bad decision. GTA4 is one of the worst online games I have played and probably wont attract people to purchase LIVE - it may even stray people away from buying it! | Everyone is saying that they have already traded in GTA already, but why? It's one of the most fun games to play online with friends in free mode. E.g. Having a stand off against the police, holding out a building like the Majestic etc. I think that the new DLC will be a refreshing addition to GTA and hopefully bring more people back on it. | ||

| XBOX LIVE should not be free. Its only $4 a month if you buy 12 month subscription. It costs alot to maintain servers. If you want free go to PS3(who are desperate for new users so there network is free). Microsoft is not desperate they are smart in using GTA4 for the 5 free days who hasn't heard of it and there are still alot of people playing online. I cant wait for the DLC. | ||

Maybe the majority of X360 owners is children aged under 15, so they have to get their parents to pay for live gold, what if their parents say no? £40 to have ur child dedicate the majority of his life to his 360 and barely go out the house. | I don't really understand why so many people have problems with this. Alot of people will probably try this out, and it's not for just 24 hours, it's for 5 days. And I will agree that GTA IV's online is not the best around. But I bet the people who totally hated it, never gave it much of a chance. Public Free Mode games with friends is an amazing experience, and one I can't get on any other Live game. And it is also Rockstar Games' first step into online multiplayer, so expect bigger things in the future. | ||

| @88 xbox live is worth the money. quit cher whinin! GTA IV online sucks. it should always be free. i traded in my copy of GTA IV for left 4 dead and i'm not gonna go buy it again so i can pay another $20 for more lame missions. GTA IV was an overhyped piece of crap. Just Cause was a better game. i havn't played any of the saints row games but i wouldnt be surprised if they were better too. | ||

| guys stop hating. GTA 4 was fun, it had a good multiplayer and a decent story, much better then saints row. seeing as how it has a main character, and not some random user made guy. and with the free mode online of GTA 4 was fun, just to mess around with. | ||

| I enjoyed GTA IV. Maybe it's just a game that you have to prepare to immerse yourself into. I'll buy the DLC, but I won't like it for $20! I guess, I am itching for another ride in GTA IV. | ||

Does ne 1 kno if those 5 day free will add 5 days to a month subscribtion u already have ... like during those 5 days they wont be counting days off ur membership lol i go month to month basis i kno it cost more in the long run but thats just how i do it so im not committed. | ||

| sweet, although i just got my gold tho =( o well, its a great game, halo 3 is good, gears is fun, whats the problem with gta IV? i mean i only got gold because of the free trials, so if people play GTA IV online, the will probly get gold, more ppl getting gold = more money. | Ummmm if im not mistaken aint this thread about GTA IV and 5 days free XBL? Err so why are people going on about mass effect, COD 4, GOW 2 and fallout 3?? Anyway GTA IV to me was over-hyped and extremely boring and repetitive. As for the online side of it... hahahaha laggy as hell!!
