Left 4 Dead DLC Detailed - Hugely Uninspiring Written Thursday, February 05, 2009 by Dan Webb Many of us were really anticipating the upcoming Left 4 Dead DLC announcement and we kind of wish we hadn't bothered now. It's a bit like waiting for Santa to come at Christmas for him only to bring you a lump of coal and give you a kick in the teeth. Thanks Santa! The Left 4 Dead Survival Pack is set to touch down in the spring and include two new versus maps (oh gee whizz, I wonder which ones those will be) and a brand new "Survival Mode." Not much else is said regarding the announcement, but I think it speaks for itself. No matter how addictive the Survival mode is, it will still take place in the same maps we'd have thought. We don't know about anyone else, but we were kind of hoping for more maps because we've played the 4 to death now. Instead it looks like we'll be playing those 4 long in to 2009. Counter-Strike always sucked because the game was too easy, not only that, they won't even add steamworks to the game (which adds PC achievements, domination/revenge sequences), same goes with HL2: Deathmatch Day of Defeat is dying, because they are too lazy to add new content, which for a ww2 game, really isn't that hard, just ask Treyarch. |

How you get there is totally up to you, maybe you take the dark and creepy sewers or the busy crowded streets. Maybe you could add stats to it, such as speed or melee power. All of these factors would seriously encourage teamwork, but you could survive without them. 3: New maps in the future 4. Some sort of storyline, prologue, explanation? |

You guys should know that Valve wanted and still want to give the TF2 content out for FREE! Being a PC dev, they believe DLC should be free. However because they have to go through M$ to put it on XBL, M$ turned around and wanted a slice for it. Valve refused and are still refusing to charge for it. Until either one budges then TF2 will not get any content. |

| Comment #259 by MG6490 Monday, February 09, 2009 @ 04:45:51 AM Two things- First- survival mode i reckon will be like this- select any level from the campaign (or Valve might have some 'survival specific' maps created we dont know about)and survive wave after wave of increasing numbers of infected. A bit like horde on GOW 2 but more frantic. Every 5 waves or so a 'boss' appears and you have to kill it. Secondly- i believe that another dlc will follow in the next couple of months with a few more campaigns so its not the end of the world. |

They've delivered the two other maps from the campaign into Versus Mode, which is a shame, but that means the next DLC will guaranteed be new and fresh. |
