RACE Pro - Now With a Sprinkling of Mini Cooper

RACE Pro - Now With a Sprinkling of Mini Cooper
Written Friday, January 30, 2009 by Dan Webb

Atari and Sinbin today revealed some pretty extensive information on their secret weapon, the Mini Cooper.

Ok, so it's not really their secret weapon, but it's a pretty big icon for car fans and me personally. I can't think of anything better than an all intensive Mini Cooper duke out. A race whereby 16 Mini's sit on the grid and the only way you'll win the race is through ingenuity or having the biggest kahunas, because let's be honest, speed is not the key here.

Still interested? Check out the latest video, screens and even a detailed run down of the motor.

RACE Pro is scheduled for a February 17th release Stateside and a February 20th release over in Europe.

Car Class Reveal: Mini Cooper

A front wheel drive icon named Mini was launched back in 1959 and was in production all the way up to the year 2000. Since its launch the Mini been a constant fixture on the international racing scene both on and off road. In 2001, BMW, current owner of the Mini brand and a key player on the racing circuit, re-launched the car under the name of The New Mini and also created the Mini Cooper Challenge backed by BMW.

For the Mini Cooper Challenge, it was decided that a 180 horsepower, supercharged Mini Cooper S would be the vehicle of choice. The street legal version of this car is already a formidable track car, and in RACE Pro, players can experience the real race car from bumper to bumper and all the close racing action that comes with it. The Mini Cooper Challenge is one of the most exciting one-car classes.

Manufacturer Overview: BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke)
BMW is a German car and motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1916 with its headquarters in Munich. During the First World War, the company enjoyed rapid growth building engines for military aircraft until 1918. BMW’s logo therefore represents a rotating airplane propeller. BMW M is a division of BMW producing sports and high-performance vehicles. Since its creation in 1972, BMW M has had a rich history of motor sport success. BMW Group also owns the brands Rolls-Royce and Mini. BMW has been involved successfully in Saloon, Touring, Sports Car and Formula racing.

Been looking forward to this game for a while now. Wasn't put off by the "I'll wait for Forza 3" crowd, and I'm looking forward to it even more now. I knew mini's would feature, but seing it has made the release date seem that little further away lol.

Sim racers are boring, just straight racing all the time unlike PGR you get to do cone challeneges, hot laps etc. These racing games are just the same over and over.

You can say what you want, but this game will be the most realistic racer on the Xbox 360 come February if it's anything like it's PC counterpart.

I'm totally stoked for it.

I think thats part of the problem MadCat. A lot of people dont want a realistic racer. They want an arcade title with shiny bits to keep them entertained. Each to their own though, isn't being entertaqined the whole point of a games console, regardless of which game/game types do it for you.

Not really much of a reveal, the MINI badge was included at teh front of the other trailers, and i seem to remember seeing the Cooper in a previous trailer. Anyway, i might be totally missing the mark on what this trailer is actually for, and if its just the MINI class, well ... oops!

Quite looking forward to this, might pick it up when i've finally finished Forza 2. (not point having 2 racing sims on the go!)

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
