Tomb Raider Underworld DLC Packs Dated, Achievements Confirmed

Tomb Raider Underworld DLC Packs Dated, Achievements Confirmed
Written Thursday, January 22, 2009 by Alan Pettit

The first of two DLC additions for Tomb Raider Underworld, titled "Beneath the Ashes", has been confirmed by Eidos for release on February 10th. They released the following information:

"Offering a new adventure specifically designed to extend the Tomb Raider: Underworld™ experience, Tomb Raider: Underworld™ – Beneath the Ashes sends Lara back to the remains of Croft Manor where she uncovers a massive series of never-before-seen caverns and age old crypts used to protect and hide a deadly source of power. The pack will also contain six new costumes and deliver an additional 125 achievement points."

The second, titled "Lara's Shadow," will arrive March 10th. No extra info on this pack was released, but it is safe to say it will fill out their allotted gamerscore addition of achievements for another 125 points. No pricing was revealed in their press release for either pack, but it is rumored that each will be 800MSP.

I'm not buying the game until it's $40 anyway, then I'll buy these and will have paid full price for a full game.

Yeah it was gonna be in the game and they took it out so they could sell it to you afterwards.

$10 for one level that should have been on the disc? I think this is a legit reason to be outraged.

Nice plot for the DLC, something that will appeal directly to fans. Still a little steep. This all too common $10 price is my only issue with DLC as a whole. Might as well just sell games for $70-100. All companies are doing this bullshit. Developing everything and cutting a sizable portion out to be sold back in later. Shit, every copy of the last few Need For Speed games are unbranded Collector's Editions...with a stupid little 1/2MB file to tell your system you had a CE disc instead of a regular one.

Not much of a Tomb Raider fan, but I'll pick this up since they released some new achievements for it. I love Lora Croft.

at least make the first DLC free then charge for the 2nd one, but both for 1600MS, I can spend more on Arcade games instead!

I'll simply wait for a year or two till the price goes down

Lara Croft and Tomb Raider are so dead! Uncharted is where it's at for adventure games these days, truly awesome! If any of you have a PS3 and haven't played it you are really missing out!

geez, looks like the rumour of them arriving at the same time was bollocks.

As for it being cut content, from what I was reading in an interview with one of the devs, eidos cut months off the development time for the game to make a christmas release date (that would have had very little effect on the sales of a tomb raider game) and crystal dynamics decided to cut the levels because they were simply not up to standard.

Personally I'd have liked to have seen them released as a 2 pack for 800 points but I'll probably buy both, at least the first and then see if it's worth the money for the second.

Also, how many bloody caverns can be beneath Croft Manor? There's a fucking enormous crypt down there already and it was filled with giant spiders, I'd be firing that butler if I were Lar

Looks good hopefully my problem with trying to download anything of live with no success is resolved before this is out. I really want to get it the same day.

Glad I have 5800 points and will probably get more Feb.

Fallout 3 DLC...3 packs we know of.
Tomb Raider Underworld DLC...2 packs.
Mirrors Edge DLC...1 pack.
GTA4...probably buy that one from ebgames.

Crazy time for DLC.

Although I can understand CD being forced to rush Underworld for an Xmas release, I don't think it's right that we have to pay for content that was going to be in the game anyway, given a couple more months of development. Premium DLC should be about providing expansions for a game, not making consumers pay for their crappy deadlines.

Got the game for £19.99 so will probably pick these up. Although you can almost sense a re-release down the line

is one of the achievements called "Ripped off" seeing as the so called DLC was just content originally from the game but cut out at the last minute.

Yet to play the game, I liked the demo. But that seems crazy to buy the DLC for just 1 level that was supposed to be in it. Hopefully this plan caves on them.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
