Cinematic Director Greg Mitchell, the man responsible for video production and cinematic direction in every Gears of War title since the second game, has announced that his departure from Epic Games to join Microsoft's Vancouver-based Gears of War team at Black Tusk.

Mitchell leaves after nine years with Epic, joining Black Tusk alongside former Epic and Gears of War colleague, Rod Fergusson, who is leading development at the startup studio on the next Gears of War game exclusively for Xbox One.

Not much has been revealed regarding the next Gears of War game, at present, suggesting that E3 2015 could represent the perfect opportunity to blow the roof off in LA this June. Xbox head Phil Spencer has said that Microsoft will be showcasing new first-party IP, as well as its already announced first-party titles at E3, making Gears of War for Xbox One a shoo-in, surely?

  • None of epic want to admit it but judgment's multiplayer was next to dead 3 weeks after release, lol. I've always enjoyed the gears campaigns, gears 4 devs just gotta remember what kept people coming back to gears 3 online.
  • @1 I thought People Can Fly made Judgment?
  • Ummmm I'd leave to Black Tuck too seeing how that's the studio that is making all the new Gears of War games lol I expect a lot of people from Epic to be joining them get Cliffy B in there and the next Gear game will be as amazing as Gears 3
  • @2 They did, Epic just help out on the side. @1 And Judgment's MP was still very populated(for me at least) months after release. I was still getting lots of matchs even after the last map pack came out. Still prefered 3's MP though.
  • @3 Cliffy B made his own studio Boss Key Productions so the odds of him leaving that is terrible.
  • Seems like Black Tusk is epic at this point
  • cliffy may be a douche most of the time but he knows how to make games
  • @7. Judgment wants to disagree.
  • @#8. Cliffy B had nothing to do with Judgement.
  • Can't wait for E3!!!!! I need my fuckin gears fix! I would even take a remaster at this point. Something, anything#!!! (Except that red headed stepchild judgment)
  • @8 Cliff left Epic before Judgment went into development.
