Bethesda to Raise Fallout 3 Cap with March DLC

Bethesda to Raise Fallout 3 Cap with March DLC
Written Thursday, January 08, 2009 by Dan Webb

In an interview published earlier today over at Eurogamer, Jeff Gardiner, lead producer of the DLC, told them that they plan to up the level cap with the third DLC installment in March.

Gardiner stated that "along with removing the game's 'ending' with Broken Steel, we figure raising the level cap would allow them to [enjoy the game for longer]. We plan on raising it to level 30 - but it will be a long, hard climb to get there!"

Good news for all Fallout 3 fans no doubt, but you'll have to wait till March and the new DLC to do it though.

In the meantime, check out the Operation Anchorage screens from earlier or check out the Eurogamer interview [makes for a good read regarding the new DLC].

I've got the Collector's Edition right here and haven't begun playing the game properly (just got out of the Vault).

Great news, as I can play the game and shortly after get the DLC while I'm pumped about the game.

If I've finished the game already, probably I wouldn't pick it up anytime soon.

Jeez, it better be a long, hard climb to reach level 30. I hate being capped where I am right now.

I probably have enough pre-war books, fingers, and scrap metal saved up to reach level 30 already when I cash them in.

Only level 30 pfft level 99 would make me buy the game at first i was but my mate comp'd it and sed it was capped at 20 so i didn't bother buying it if by anytime soon it goes to a high standard of levelling i'd play it.

Ooh, they're changing the last quest so you can carry on playing after? Excellent idea, was shocked when the game ended after the mission, very unlike bethesda.

Considering the level cap was 20 which, unless you did EVERYTHING, you usually hit a little before you beat the game, level 30 seems pretty challenging to hit.

I capped out at level 20 LONNNNNNG before I beat the game. Like 15 hours before I beat it. It really depends on how you play the game and if you like to explore. Either way im very pumped for this DLC, fallout 3 is one of my favorite games.

And to think Pc user's removed the level cap for free, but bethsoft feels we should pay $10 for a mission and 10lvl increase, pc users have it way better, wish I could run it on mine. But F3 was not that good to begin with so I will pass.

It won't be hard to reach level 30 unless they patch that speech glitch in Big Town. You could just bash the A button to get there.

Are "Broken Steel" and "Operation Anchorage" talking about the same DLC or are these 2 separate pieces of DLC? Thanks.

50 Gamerpoints per pack? That will only leave the game with 1150 Gamerscore points. Boo. I hope there are multiple Achievements in each pack. I don't want 50 points for doing something ridiculously easy. (Mass Effect's Bring Down the Sky DLC was too short and too easy.)

Level 30... That means 10 more perks. This is gonna be awesome. Can't wait to see what special perks are added for those levels. The level 30 one is gonna have to be pretty impressive to compete with the level 20 perks.

Thursday, January 08, 2009 @ 03:42:12 PM

That's dumb. Why wait for the third to level up more? Stupid. I don't really care I'm getting all three DLCs anyway.

Thursday, January 08, 2009 @ 03:44:50 PM

The level cap isn't much of an issue as there are so many skill boosting things in the game that you can max out the stats on a character by level 20.

For a character that has completed nearly all of the game, there won't be much left to earn XP from to get it up to L30.

Hopefully they also add some new perks for 20-30, and not just let you pick 10 more from the existing list.

I Hot level 20 wayyyyyyy before beating the game, even before scientific pursuits. So hopefully they add enough stuff in the DLC to get me to level 30.

I can't wait for all this DLC. I'll probably start a fresh account to try it all, but man, this will keep me occupied whenever I have free time. God bless Bethesda.

Love this game! It's addicting as hell and really fun! I just wish there was a soundtrack, because I got all the catchy 1940s tunes stuck in my head like "Way Back Home" and "Anything Goes"! Hopefully I will have beaten the game when the first wave, Operation: Anchorage hits, because I am still just doing side quests!

i bet you will open your eyes to a very bright world with Lyons above you saying, I thought we lost you there for a minute. or something like that, or just a simple
"No I'm not dead. continue game."
option but it wont surprise me if they use something similar to the first one. I which they would go beyond the lvl 30 cap, since on the pc version you can lvl up past 20 with all of the advantages by doing a console command.

Good. I just beat the game with my Neutral character anyway. Now I have an "evil" chick that uses big guns and heavy armor. This will be fantasistc. The level cap was a bit lame, and I am saddened about my loss of dear, sweet Waggoner..but, Kezia will show these f***ers what hell on earth is REALLY like! The Wastelands don't have s*** on her! MUAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAA!!

game was capped so you couldnt obtain all the perks in 1 go i wager

gonna craigslist me a copy of fallout3 right before this drops

i hope, like shivering isles, the added content is well thought out and fun instead of a cash grab

i believe that they have a lvl cap because the lvl cap for fallout 1 and 2 is lvl 20. so they might just be trying to keep it true to the others. but realized that lvl 20 is too low lol

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
