GTA IV DLC Price Inadvertently Leaked? Written Thursday, November 27, 2008 by Dan Webb Gamestop certainly have a habit of releasing information before it's public knowledge; call it an advertising blooper or their "don't give a shit" attitude, but it seems like they may have done it again ... this time with the upcoming GTA IV DLC. They've recently advertised the GTA IV DLC on their site with a price of $19.99 and although the content won't be sold in disc form, they'll be handing out codes with a double sided poster nonetheless Educated guess? Mere speculation? Corporate blooper? You decide, but 1600 points sounds about right from where we're sat. Thanks Saracin | |

![]() | Comment #2 by Aphlix Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 01:47:23 PM 1600, I expect achievements, if not, Roxkstar can go... ...STRAIGHT TO HELL! |
![]() | Comment #3 by raycharles1409 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 01:47:29 PM im getting more and more tempted to get a ps3....Microfucksoft is just fucking ripping us! with all those expensive arcade games, dlc and 60$ A YEAR FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE FREE! |
![]() | Comment #4 by i m redshark Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 01:48:00 PM i might eventually get around to this, too many new and incredible games out to rush into this |
![]() | Comment #5 by Bleeding Star Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 01:48:43 PM and yet they gave out 500free points FOR the dlc, still leaving you around 1000 to pay, meh GTA sucks anyways |
![]() | Comment #6 by Snugglepuffle Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 01:58:13 PM if this is anywhere near true then i will use my points on the DLC for fallout 3 instead. i'll wait for the price of this one to fall a fair bit :) |
![]() | Comment #7 by BladesX Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:09:41 PM I don't even think anyone even plays GTA anymore lol. The holiday season releases are too much fun =]. |
![]() | Comment #8 by Itsbrown4606 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:15:55 PM #2, #3, #7: Completely agree. |
![]() | Comment #9 by Saracin Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:19:11 PM Okay, to all those people who complain that Xbox Live should be free need to do some research and understand that all of these servers except for EA's are dedicated servers like an MMO game. It costs a lot of money running servers for all of these games. Would you rather have a game who's servers get shut off when there aren't that many people playing?? Or just because its a 2 year old game so its time to move on? I can still play some of my favorite original Xbox games online, even ones not put out by Microsoft. How many PS2 games can claim that?? And if this content was coming out on PS3 it would STILL cost the same amount of money. |
![]() | Comment #10 by Jim Ignatowski Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:20:54 PM I don't understand the complaining. No one is forced to buy this or any other DLC. To be honest, the premise didn't sound interesting enough at 800 points. |
![]() | Comment #11 by Scaysie Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:26:16 PM I only just went back to GTA to finish the Story because it was that boring (and the 400GS was annoying) but i still have no plans on paying 1600 points for a pile of awful awful crap....Ok not that bad but sill.... |
![]() | Comment #12 by Smugu Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:28:38 PM No achievements no buy |
![]() | Comment #13 by ClutchPapi34 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:31:33 PM I didn't really enjoy GTA4 |
![]() | Comment #14 by xXx3NIGM4xXx Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:35:06 PM That is rather expensive, but this business of "XBL should be free" is getting really old. If 60$ a year is bad to you, go play the inferior PSN. People pay 15 bucks a month for that World of Warcraft crap, yet millions of people get suckered into that. 60 bucks a YEAR seems like a pretty good bargain in comparison. XBL shouldn't be free. It's a business, and they're in it to make money. Sony is trying to appeal for its shitty library. Did you know they still make PS2 games?! I wonder why....? /sarcasm |
![]() | Comment #15 by My BR Is Evil Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:39:01 PM I agree with a lot of people about the pricetag of this dlc even with the possibility of achievements but mostly agree with #13. Its a business and a good one to keep so many people online playing. Just Halo 3, Call Of Duty 4, and Gears of War had more people playing a day than any other grouping and this was for the online play of XBL. People complain but they love it. |
![]() | Comment #16 by ZeMace Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:39:30 PM @#13 I Agree, is XBL was free then companies like bungie and infinty ward wouldn't put much effort into multiplayer at all. And all of those who are complaining about GTA 4, is it was so bad then why did you finish it and achievemnts are great but you all seem to depend on them to enjoy your games? Personnally I can't wait for this rockstar did a great job on GTA 4 and this should be brilliant. |
![]() | Comment #17 by Tricky 103 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:40:43 PM I'd say this should be free. The game was to short, n who the F*** went around shooting pigeons :( |
![]() | Comment #18 by EnragedSavage90 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:43:03 PM dude GTA4 was one of the worst games i bought/played for the xbox 360 along side with far cry 2 but to charge 1600 points is outrageous who even play it any more with gears 2, COD WAW, L4D, and others |
![]() | Comment #19 by Colby Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:47:23 PM hope theres new achievements |
![]() | Comment #20 by ch33zy Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:59:42 PM @ 17 I did, and got em all. |
![]() | Comment #21 by Badlandz Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 02:59:49 PM 20$ haha |
![]() | Comment #22 by Zacxx201 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:04:39 PM 20 Bucks!? #2 Ur Right, GTA IV was murder enough for the extremely dull storyline but they better have achievements or it will fail! |
![]() | Comment #23 by AlphaTrion Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:06:56 PM Didn't MS pay $50 million to have these exclusive DLC rights for GTA4? Guess they're trying to recover that back... |
![]() | Comment #24 by Fryza Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:11:30 PM If the game itself was good in the first place, I'd be more outraged. |
![]() | Comment #25 by VampireViking Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:15:36 PM tbh #3 if xbox live was free then we would have more screaming kids on live because it would be free and they would have to ask there mums and dads to buy it for them because they dont have money |
![]() | Comment #26 by Taz148 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:21:27 PM Free?? WTF would it be free tricky 103, this is going to add allot to the game and the spent a shit ton of money making it. |
![]() | Comment #27 by spiderlillyx187 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:28:54 PM not a hope. way too pricey fills up hdd and cant resell it for a game i dont play anymore |
![]() | Comment #28 by Harton Warrior Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:40:49 PM Hi I hope some 1 can help me!!! how do u asign my gamertag to my profile on here????? cant find anything to tell me how!!!!????????? help please!!! |
![]() | Comment #29 by MAXIBHOY Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:48:43 PM everyone who complains that xbox live aint free and ps3 is are wierd cos xbox live has many more folk on it and is quicker etc, ps3 aint. |
![]() | Comment #30 by xXBlaqOut92Xx Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:49:19 PM @ 14- I fully agree with you. When you only have like 2 or 3 good games exclusive to your console and a never ending list of shitty releases, I'd see why their network is free. TBH, I'm more than glad to pay $50 for online so I can get the full potential out of the company's servers. It's a worldwide business and managing millions of gamers damn sure ain't gonna be cheap. It's a good point w/ WoW too cuz thats just one game in comparison to Xbox Live lettin u play wutever your in the mood for. So either pay and enjoy wut they offer, or switch to PSN and their bulls**t. |
![]() | Comment #31 by JedEgan Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 03:50:47 PM Didn't they say that each episode will be the length of Liberty City or Vice City Stories? $20 seems a fair price if that's the case. |
![]() | Comment #32 by TESTUBE BABY 82 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:01:21 PM anybody who is a fan of gta will and should get this.if u dont want it dont buy it |
![]() | Comment #33 by NaCH_THa_KiD Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:04:27 PM #27 - I completly agree... |
![]() | Comment #34 by alexsimms Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:09:15 PM @3, why exactly should Live GOld be free? I do think 19.99 for DLC is a bit pricey... I was going to buy this as soon as it came out, but now I think I'll pass, or at least wait for reviews. |
![]() | Comment #35 by alexsimms Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:11:00 PM And I can't believe people actually think GTA4 was "one of the worst games on the 360." Man oh man, you haven't played that many games then. It's not one of the worst, in fact, its one of the best. Obviously this is opinion, but it is shared by many people, including ALL of the game review mags, sites, etc. They can't all be wrong. And if you think it's one of the worst, and most of everyone else thinks it's one of the best... there's *something* wrong with you. |
![]() | Comment #36 by impmeister Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:14:07 PM Isn't that about the same price as the Shivering Isles for Oblivion? I don't remember that far back but did people complain about it then. If its on the same scope as Liberty City Stories then I will not hesitate to buy as I actually quite enjoyed GTA4. |
![]() | Comment #37 by ThatCostsMoney Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:20:18 PM that games trash i sold it, mercenaries was like 20 times funner than that russian faggot on GTA4 |
![]() | Comment #38 by Simo13 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:25:15 PM maybe theyre expensive posters? and the dlc is only $10? |
![]() | Comment #39 by DeafSunchaser Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:29:09 PM lol even if this was free.. i still would not get it as the game sucked big time! hehe some of the comments here are funny! ! |
![]() | Comment #40 by delongerAVA Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:33:32 PM i didn't enjoy gta 4 anyway. Sold it right after I beat it. It wont get any better than GTA Vice City and San Andreas. those games i truly enjoyed playing and completed them multiple times! |
![]() | Comment #41 by DinnerandaShow Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:38:19 PM @ #3 Microsft can only rip you off when you actually buy it. So unless you buy it, they are not ripping you off. Get a life bitch. |
![]() | Comment #42 by S3R0 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 04:50:44 PM IDK if 1600 points sounds fair, It better be more than one mission and achievements. |
![]() | Comment #43 by ManicMangoiow Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 05:09:26 PM Hopefully this dlc will make the game more playable I mean the current game is sooooooo boring unless ur online with a few m8s |
![]() | Comment #44 by sirnerd84 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 05:12:58 PM I'm curious how Gamestop has a habit of releasing info? What else have they released and why does it have to be a blooper that they put a price tag on something they sell? |
![]() | Comment #45 by KingSigy Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 05:38:40 PM GTA4 is awesome and $20 for an expansion is not that much. Most PC expansions retail for $30 and you got Shivering Isles for around 1800 points when it first came out, so this is not that big of a deal. Definitely should be worth it unless something is just bugged in the coding. |
![]() | Comment #46 by Vernox Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 05:52:46 PM I don't agree with #45. The reason most PC expasnions are around $30 is because they have a lot of content involved in the game to set it apart from the rest of the game. If you payed 1800 for Shivering Isle you are a moron. The main storyline to GTA 4 was not as good as it was hyped out to be and look at the Fable 2 DLC. They will probably have the same amount of play time and it is only 800 points. Idiots who pay for this is the reason Microsoft is able to set map packs and arcade game for 1200 points now. |
![]() | Comment #47 by Bluntedfish Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 05:55:33 PM Even if there is a extra 250 achievement points its still a waste of money. |
![]() | Comment #48 by Ministry4390 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 06:00:41 PM Not a bad price. It'll probably sell really well. |
![]() | Comment #49 by bigmac393 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 06:05:26 PM @#3, why should a SUBSCRIPTION be free...nintendo and ps3 both have free online and they suck soo yea |
![]() | Comment #50 by Masklin Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 06:23:02 PM 1600 points seems a bit much but I'm just gonna wait and see. Personally I don't mind paying for XBL as it's cheap for a years worth of online gaming plus I think the PS3 sucks |
![]() | Comment #51 by MCMANRFC08 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 06:45:51 PM |
![]() | Comment #52 by MCMANRFC08 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 06:46:02 PM yeah i know what all of you are saying but maybe in my opinion what they should do is give u all the dlc for nothing since ur buying the game plus paying for broadband, phone lines, ms points, headsets since they break all the time. If they gave you the dlc for nothing then maybe a lot of people would go and play it. even 1600 for penny arcade 1200 for banjo and 1200 for street fighter get a grip ms. |
![]() | Comment #53 by callofdutyachievements Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 07:11:31 PM yay |
![]() | Comment #54 by JAMIEEROCKS Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 07:19:20 PM #46 has obviously never played shivering isle its a whole different and huge place to play in it should have cost more |
![]() | Comment #55 by KingFred23 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 07:28:34 PM gta iv was a good game, but not as good as gta: san andreas. it might be worth it to spend $20, but then again it might not. u can get halo 3 dlc, gears 2, cod5, and a bunch of other good games. the ps3's online is only free cause it sucks and they have sucky games compared to the xbox 360 |
![]() | Comment #56 by blayde Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 07:45:33 PM Lol I'm sorry but I was so bored of GTA4 after like 5mins all just 'go find this guy'*5 minute drive* 'holy shit! he's running away!'*10 minute drive*'he get over here'*5 minute drive*'go find this guy',ECT. SO BORING! also where was the coulour the whole 'realistic look' failed seriously worst game on 360 in my opinion. Also I own a 360, a PS3 and a wii and I play online on all 3 and really the only trouble I've had is lagg on SSB:brawl and also PSN got better selection of classics, Crash bandicoot? why yes thank you...Fucking fantards |
![]() | Comment #57 by Diaxen Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 07:48:33 PM I'll have to check out the reviews before committing to this. The original game now that I think about it was rather boring and not really all that fun, and achievements were pretty horrible for completionists. |
![]() | Comment #58 by Z. slay3r Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 08:24:31 PM The price seems a bit steep, but I'll probably wuss out and buy it anyway. :/ |
![]() | Comment #59 by illain Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 08:28:39 PM I'll have to think about this one. I hardly even play this game anymore. |
![]() | Comment #60 by jond Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 08:51:27 PM you guys remember when they had nothing but 400 point games?....those where the days. now there 1200 :/ and they dont even live up to the hype once you play them. but we are the tards that buy. M$ could sell a bottle of piss to everyone if it just had a code to unlock a map in HALO 3. |
![]() | Comment #61 by hoochie mama 88 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 09:11:58 PM #32 is a brilliant man and sums up everything. Fans of GTA don't go around message boards complaining about your favorite games (viva pinata) so don't do it to ours. |
![]() | Comment #62 by Vernox Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 09:31:10 PM #54 I have played shivering Isle and it wasn't that extravagant or long. I got it for free from a disc so it didn't bother me none but it was over priced just like this is. 800 would have been fine because I have spent more time on even 400 point arcade games then I did in the shivering isle section. |
![]() | Comment #63 by MarcoPolo360 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 09:38:27 PM I honestly liked GTA... I will probably get it regardless of price. |
![]() | Comment #64 by TIMex666 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 09:59:43 PM I stopped playing this along time ago. Was it a good game? Yes. Was it a great game? NO! With only three different clothes stores and generic gunstores there was nothing left to do after passing the story, plus it was extremely difficult to make more than 1 mill in the game. I still play San Andreas but there is no way that I will keep playing this game... there is no variety, the multiplayer is mediocre and the removal of the RPG elements for the sake of "Graphical Integrity" was a huge mistake on rockstars part, I would rather be playing a version of GTA IV with San Andreas graphics and San andreas fun, than the shit that was served up as the "10/10 greatest game ever" which it did not diserve at all... there was nothing about this game that made it worthy of the perfect score. Maybe |
![]() | Comment #65 by TIMex666 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 10:09:45 PM *continued* if this game wasnt hyped up so much then it wouldnt have had to live up to such great expectations, but I still dont understand why reviewers everywhere reviewed to those expectations rather than the game itself. @#63 I bet you never played the original III trilogy And about the DLC, its too little, too late. Fallout 3 has 3 DLC packs announced already only a month after release, for Jan, Feb and Mar respectively, thats good and will keep up replayability whereas announcing DLC for release almost 11 months after GTA IV originally released was not that good on rockstars behalf, due to the fact that anyone in their right mind would have traded it in by now. Its just not good enough too keep people playing. Rant over and of course this is just IMO |
![]() | Comment #66 by darquesyde Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 10:29:10 PM Way too late for the DLC...that was promised to be released "Day of Launch." Nope, this will be passed by. |
![]() | Comment #67 by bluntedGRINCH Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 10:42:38 PM They need to hive up the 1600 point, anything, DLC, arcade games whatever. This is turning out to be a mistake im sure im not the only one that is just tired of live and their dumb ass price gouging. |
![]() | Comment #68 by XFirePuppetX Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 10:43:28 PM does anyone still play this |
![]() | Comment #69 by Hooligunn Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 11:15:13 PM You guys who are like "THEY'RE RIPPING US OFF!" are absolute idiots. Fricken freeloaders. Fact is, GTA4 was released almost 10 months prior to this DLC being released - since when has there been any DLC worked on for 10 months thats been free? On PC, it's called an expansion pack and people pay $40/£25 to play it. This isn't going to be some hour long mission, this is going to be big - logic would tell you that, considering it's taking 10 months to make it. Get over yourselves, stop whining and accept that not everything in life is free. It's not like it was held back to rip you off like most games, it's a serious effort from Rockstar to make some solid worthwhile DLC. If your not going to support that, then good DLC is screwed. |
![]() | Comment #70 by Alex933 Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 11:34:54 PM There is no fucking way in hell i am getting it with that price, so it's like: Rebuy GTA4 + DlC for $20 + renew my membership on xbl = A rly big hole in my economy! The only good thing about ps3 is that the company which made it doesn't rape you in the ass everytime you are trying to enjoy yoself. |
![]() | Comment #71 by easybot Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 11:41:44 PM I'll buy it :D I'd love to play this side story. |
![]() | Comment #72 by xxXI Dave IXxx Thursday, November 27, 2008 @ 11:58:48 PM @3, So be it. Trade in your 360 and join the gaystation network, its free, adios amigo! |
![]() | Comment #73 by jappe66 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 12:00:00 AM 1600...1600???? C'mon... If it was 800 or under it would be mine but 1600.....!!! |
![]() | Comment #74 by RaidenX49 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 12:13:46 AM I can't believe there's so many people saying GTA IV is such a bad game. It is one of the best games on the Xbox 360 right now, and I bet none of you people gave the game a chance at all. Its like you people just have some grudge against the game that you want to keep convincing yourself you hate the game so much so you can stick with the fact you keep saying the game is shit. My friend was the same way, always saying GTA IV was shit and he hated it and just so people wouldn't say "Oh I thought you said it was shit" he never played the game anymore. Until I made him, now he plays it everyday with me and enjoys it as much as I do. I think people need to stop going so overboard saying it's a shitty game because it's far from it. |
![]() | Comment #75 by Burning Pandama Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 12:21:05 AM I 1600 points for 500G, i am gonna get it right away!! |
![]() | Comment #76 by RaidenX49 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 12:24:09 AM This price is confusing me to, it says it's $20 but 1600 microsoft points. Which doesn't make sense because when I go to Blockbuster to buy point cards 1400 points is $20. |
![]() | Comment #77 by MakoBallistic Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 01:05:39 AM To all the people that complain about microsoft and their prices - go and buy a PS3 and see how long your using that before you start complaining about the online service, its free for a reason - because it sucks, just like the wii online. were all getting screwed no matter WHAT we buy, that is the catch 22 of being a consumer, but hey a lot of you seem happier when you have something to moan about anyway. |
![]() | Comment #78 by Lord of Orion Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 01:49:22 AM I will never BUY a PS3 for the online being free ... Blu-ray at most! I will be getting back into GTA IV sooner rather than later so I will probably end up getting it especially if it has more achieves and if it drops a little in price! |
![]() | Comment #79 by KIDDRAGON67 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 01:57:01 AM what a rip off! microsoft are just a money whores wanting more and more money, their should'nt be ms points it all should be free |
![]() | Comment #80 by Alan1187 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 01:57:03 AM 1600 MS points... I'll probably end up passing on this one. Fallout 3's DLC coming next year, the DLC for Lost Odyssey which I just recently picked up, as well as Fable 2's DLC. I also need a 120gb HD so I can fully utilize the new update, and still download the extra content and arcade game > |
![]() | Comment #81 by zyxomma100 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 02:10:02 AM I borrowed the game from a relative and never was able to finish it. I just couldn't get interested in the story. I have to return it to him tomorrow. Needless to say, I won't be getting the DLC. |
![]() | Comment #82 by crunchb3rry Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 03:12:33 AM It better have a ton of shit if they're going to bend us over with that pricepoint. |
![]() | Comment #83 by ThChronicSmoker Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 03:14:16 AM @1 I thought the same thing But 1600 points is very expensive. I have owned every GTA since release but this may be questionable. The GTA:SA classic was worth every penny but this better be good and have achievements! |
![]() | Comment #84 by ChipSpudskin Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 03:35:25 AM I'll wait to see what the price is when it is officially released! Just remember though, no-one is forcing you to buy it, that's a choice you make yourself! |
![]() | Comment #85 by Astrex Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 03:40:02 AM If that price is true, Damn! why so expensive, I hope its like another long campaign like Niko's if not whats the point! Way too many decent games out at the moment to even think about GTA |
![]() | Comment #86 by SPRAYandPREYcom Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 03:52:35 AM wow this is what we get for exclusive content on 360 dam hopefully it will be long |
![]() | Comment #87 by AllyAdair Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 04:56:59 AM In reply to #3 - I agree mate, i don't know about the rest of you but i live on my own and paying £30 a year for online gaming for me is out of the question, i got given a year's for my birthday otherwise i wouldnt be buying it. As for Dlc... I pay £40 for a game and then 6 months later im expected to pay for more content.... no thanks. |
![]() | Comment #88 by Hitchenson Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 05:31:25 AM Awesome! Seem to be a lot of haters on this board, like I don't see why Microsoft charge for LIVE... Then again i'm not cheap enough to piss and moan about £35 a year. Anywho, bring on this expansion I say! :D |
![]() | Comment #89 by Sinister Alpha Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 06:31:14 AM #74: I've been waiting on GTA IV for so long, and when I got it I was like "ZOMGBBQSAUCEPWNAGEFTW!". I was a BIT disappointed when I played it though, I feel that it shouldn't have had 10/10. 9.7/10 seems better, as it's a good game. The point is, I didn't enjoy it THAT much, but I've been really excited about it (no hate towards Rockstar or the GTA series). :/ |

![]() | Comment #91 by YurtleTehTurle Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 07:15:02 AM Please don't turn this into a Fanboy war; the bottom line is both MS and Sony fleece their customers. Sony have sold £10 worth of skins for LBP in the first three weeks of its release and I haven't even checked yesterday's PS Store updates yet! If the GTA DLC has 10+ hours (and hopefully >250 achievements)then its not a bad price, if not then it's a rip off. Simple As. |
![]() | Comment #92 by bobbowski Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 07:28:26 AM For all you people complaining about the price of the DLC, etc. get over it. Over 20 years ago when I first started gaming, games cost $50. Now they cost $60 but with a ton more stuff in them and they look a lot better. More time is spent in making the game and as such more money is spent. Nothing else, that I can think of, has had a measly 20% increase in the last 20 years, everything else has increased much more (speaking of entertainment iteams mainly but most anything can be included). The is a business and people are trying to make money. Deal with it. You know the reason Apple can mark the iPhone up to it's crazy price tag, it's because people want it and will pay it. Same thing here. GTA is a huge franchise and so we have to pay a little more for the exclusive content o |

![]() | Comment #98 by Wedge Star Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 09:56:07 AM I agree with #92 i remember some Nintendo 64 games being like $80. Plus all the DLC for GTA is going to add the stuff they didn't put on the disc an just think of all the shit they will add with 2 exclusive DLC paks An for the people who think fable 2 DLC will be bigger theres only 3 Missions added 6 wepons an some armor im sure thats about it now for 800 MS points that expensive |

![]() | Comment #100 by Impact Andy Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 10:45:42 AM I'd like to see new achievements with the DLC. Then I will most likely get it. If no new achievements, I'll decide when it's released. I like GTA IV a lot though. |
![]() | Comment #101 by Don Manolo Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 10:47:34 AM if it adds like 750 points in the game it's all good.. probably not but if it doesn't have any achievements I'm not getting this! |

![]() | Comment #104 by xX|Triple K|Xx B100dh0uNd Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 12:27:52 PM I only played the story for the achievements. The only thing i actually like about GTA IV is free mode. With enough imagination you can have serious fun with free mode. E.g. absolutely MAHOOSIVE killing sprees, holdouts, cars vs choppers (my fave) and so much else. But yeh other than that i cant stand GTA. Even if this was free i would think twice... |
![]() | Comment #105 by ethanl2k7 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 12:36:39 PM what type of DLC we talking about? army? tanks, clothes, 250gs? |
![]() | Comment #106 by SubzeroDarkJedi Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 12:39:40 PM @#9 I agree with what you said - and the best example of this is when someone goes to buy a car and then that same person turns around to the dealership and tells them I just bought this car but I want to run this car for free. Err no, it costs money to maintain things and even though maybe this analogy may sound a bit flawed as you can get a warranty, you still have to pay for it to not deal with with the problems - but unfortunately your free coverage doesn't last forever. The point is running a service for free may sound great but what isn't great is the fact certain players out there complain like little b**ches when things won't work, can't connect to their friends to play games with or have to pay for something to keep it going. That's why paying subscription fee's for a service |
![]() | Comment #107 by DemonI81 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 01:00:59 PM @ #79 It should be free? So you create something, work for months on it, then you give it away for free? Wow... are you the pope? Anyway, gotta love Gamestop. Just went and pre-ordered it. Can't wait. @ #105 It's supposed to be like 8 more hours of gameplay. I'm not sure how many more GS. MS paid $50million for the exclusive rights for this DLC and the next one (there's 2 packs that will come, this is the first). |
![]() | Comment #108 by DanieljJ Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 01:20:06 PM The ball was kinda dropped early and often. That said I will still be likely to buy the DLC. |
![]() | Comment #109 by SubzeroDarkJedi Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 01:26:53 PM **continued from #106** That's why paying subscription fee's for a service does have it's advantages cause at least some if not a large amount of what you pay goes to maintaining servers and features that the consumers use frequently but also the fact that they're older platform and servers are still usable to this day - Sony or Nintendo can't stake to the claim that they can do this. And as for the price for the DLC - has anybody really took the time to research this? The last time I checked, most Xbox 360 games only last 8-10 hours unless it has online multiplayer and they go for about $60. So why the hell is anyone complaining about DLC that will last about that much time only costing $20??? That in my opinion isn't a rip off but a bloody good deal. If you don't want to pay for i |
![]() | Comment #110 by Zmoke Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 01:47:28 PM @109 Well, you can sell the retail games and get the most of the money back. Also, the DLC's prices don't really reduce unlike retail games do. For example, you might find a totally new game with the same price you pay for the DLC and you can still sell the new game away. |
![]() | Comment #111 by Masta Mylez Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 04:16:33 PM The GTA4 DLC will be the biggest DLC ever on XBOX Live so I hear. I love GTA4 and would put up 2400 plus to buy the DLC. It won't be some rushed bullshit like Fable 2's DLC. Rockstar always takes their time to produce an excellent product and people just love to hate on them and GTA4 because it wasn't San Andreas. And what do achievements do for you in the real world. A Big Fat Nothing. Achievement whores are lame. Basing a games quality or fun on computer generated numbers. You people are not true gamers and are nerds in every way, shape and form. |
![]() | Comment #112 by radar616 Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 05:45:24 PM I dont see a problem with paying £40 a year for live, I'd just wish we got have some decent content please Microsoft! As for the GTA DLC, like many are saying. No achievements = no buy. 1600 is a hell of a lot compared to most DLC (hell you could buy GTA SA from the marketplace on XBOX originals for 1200 MS points). Oblivion had DLC that cost LESS and HAD an extra 250GS. |
![]() | Comment #113 by Keizer Godzilla Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 07:26:11 PM I don't care about extra achievements....I am just happy to get more out of this game |
![]() | Comment #114 by Bloody Sky Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 09:45:06 PM I wish my local Gamestop stores had a "Don't give a shit" attitude. I hear all these people from places like New York, LA, etc, getting games early from Gamestop, when my local Gamestop stores tell me the "We do not even get the game until the morning of release" bullshit. Do they seriously think people in Texas are that dumb? We know you have had the game in the back for weeks! :P Anyways, On topic: GTAIV was a disappointment for me. IDK if I will be paying to get this DLC. |
![]() | Comment #115 by MrRedrum Friday, November 28, 2008 @ 09:51:13 PM This would be awesome if it was 800 points and would set a new example for all the other developers to stop charging so much for their DLC! At 1600 points though I'm inclined to wait a couple of months until it hits a greatest "hits" list or they do some sort of promotional discount. The only way this would be worth it is if it pretty much guaranteed another 6 - 8 hours of actual game time by just playing from mission to mission... also another 500 potential GS would be awesome too but I would settle for 250. Also, at #111 aka Masta Mylez, you do realize you're saying achievements are nothing and a waste of time on a website dedicated to finding out HOW to get achievements, what they are and how to get as many as you can for the games you have right? Hell, "achievements" is in the websi |

Basing a games quality or fun on computer generated numbers. You people are not true gamers and are nerds in every way, shape and form." I think it's time for you to find a new site to trash people on, since you just trashed this entire community. @ #114 I'm in NY, upstate, and my gamestop doesn't get games in stock early. The people you're referring to are lying and they pirated it. I'm friends with the manager and no gamestops get the games early. There's a few games that every gamestop got early, but that's rare. |

![]() | Comment #121 by Avenger Saturday, November 29, 2008 @ 01:33:42 PM Too little too late, and too expensive. I stopped playing this within a month after completing it and getting bored of it. |
![]() | Comment #122 by OMGmyFACE Saturday, November 29, 2008 @ 02:54:09 PM $20 for, what, 5 or 6 missions as someone from The Lost? Wow, that's stupid. I'm expecting like 8 hours of content for that much. And to play at that batting cage I saw when boating with Brucie once. |
![]() | Comment #123 by braddelo Saturday, November 29, 2008 @ 03:26:11 PM @56 You are so stupid sounding it's retarded. And for the little achievements bitches: Why the hell would you spend $20 on extra achievements instead of extra gameplay? Fucking morons. You sound like a bunch of dumbass twats. And seriously...it's only $20 bucks. Grow up. |
![]() | Comment #124 by Scythe100 Saturday, November 29, 2008 @ 07:01:58 PM If you don't want to spend $20 on the extra content then don't, you aren't being forced. For some of us though, it's nice to have the option. |
![]() | Comment #125 by g2thecore Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 01:28:07 AM wow it's sickening to see all these negative comments made about a game that i believe to be one of the best games for the 360! storyline was boring? REALLY!? got bored after 5 minutes? WHAT?! anywho, i know everyone is entitled to their opinion but seriously....some of u guys r hilarious with yours...and 20 bucks i will gladly pay for such a masterpiece of a game. whiners! |
![]() | Comment #126 by IX Kenneth XI Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 02:40:47 AM GTA IV in my opinion is love it or hate it. Me - love it. My mate - hates it with a passion, either way i agree with comment 3. I wish there was someway that english people could buy xbox live for a year say for £25 on ebay.. then trade with an american for the dollars and you give xbox live. They get it cheaper and you haven't lost out. |
![]() | Comment #127 by Major Pancakes Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 06:43:10 AM GTA IV was massively overhyped, not saying it was shit, I was still out there at GAME's opening hour. But 10/10? Really? Story was good...missions became far too repetitive. So, having no Niko related DLC is a nail in the coffin on this for me. (At least going by the first officially described DLC) |
![]() | Comment #128 by Thunder cg Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 07:44:37 AM nice! |
![]() | Comment #129 by mjc0961 Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 07:47:00 AM I think it's definitely GameStop's "Don't give a shit" attitude. Rare, Microsoft, and many actual paying customers have all been screwed by their willingness to hand out Banjo-Kazooie arcade download codes to anyone who claimed they had preordered Nuts and Bolts. But $20 does sound about right. I had figured I'd be spending about $100 on this game overall between the actual disc and the two DLC packs. |
![]() | Comment #130 by DemonI81 Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 10:24:45 AM @ #123 Maybe you should find a site more to your style then if you don't like achievement whores. Like http://www.us.playstation.com/PSN You're on an achievement whore site moron so f-off. |
![]() | Comment #131 by AlecDuffin Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 03:46:02 PM Not trying to be funny, but you're PRETTY MUCH paying $20 for a brand new game, albiet in an older enviroment... People wasn't complaining when Vice City and San Andreas were full priced PS2 games, and that's supposed to be the general size of this DLC... Bargain if you ask me =D |
![]() | Comment #132 by secretkaos187 Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 04:43:52 PM I personally will skip this one! XBL is a service, when a company or someone offers a service a fee is usually paid to use it. Me personally, If it keeps it dedicated then charge me(not much tho!) |
![]() | Comment #133 by secretkaos187 Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 04:51:48 PM And one more thing, Gamestop employees aren't too bright or personable anymore? |
![]() | Comment #134 by VooDooPeteK Sunday, November 30, 2008 @ 04:52:12 PM Well GTA was fun to play through fast but was alot of the same thing over and over. will the DLC add anything exciting? as for the XBL for free crap thats bull. I was a huge fan of the ps2 and some of the games but its online system sucks. fun games like Socom started to lag and get glitchers so bad cause with it being free there was almost never patches or updates. So $60 a year (even less if you get the bundles with the chat pad or camera) to have updates, dedicated servers and the friends list is nice as well. |

![]() | Comment #137 by mjc0961 Monday, December 01, 2008 @ 07:58:22 AM #131, I highly doubt that they're packing something the length of San Andrea's story into a single DLC package. If it actually was that long, I'd be really impressed. But I'm not going to get my hopes up for something like that. |
![]() | Comment #138 by Crazy Best Monday, December 01, 2008 @ 09:27:45 AM $20 dollars for a lamer version of GTA IV? Unless it is insanely WoW-material and at lest three-four hours of solid gameplay and at least 250 fairly easy gamerscore, no way. Plus, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 will be coming out around then so... yeah. No luck GTA. |
![]() | Comment #139 by Wedge Star Tuesday, December 02, 2008 @ 10:32:25 AM I think most of there problem is that MOMMY won't give them $20 so they come on here to cry about it instead of getting a job $20 Blah |
![]() | Comment #140 by njsoldier69 Tuesday, December 02, 2008 @ 03:22:29 PM i dont understand why so many people are bitching about $20. it's pretty simple, if you dont like the game,or dont wanna spend the money....dont. i've played every gta in the series growing up, and i'll probably get this at some point. how about microsoft finds a way to solve the damn RROD? as i type this mine is on its way to the repair center yet again. i spent 11 weeks in tx while i was in the military and i now believe with this trip, my 360 has spent more time in that state then i did. thank god they fix it for free, but come on how many times am i gonna have to send it out before they can fix it right..... |
