Fable 2 DLC Announced; Price & Release Date Included

Fable 2 DLC Announced; Price & Release Date Included
Written Monday, November 24, 2008 by Dan Webb

Lionhead Studios and Microsoft today announced the first pieces of downloadable content for their popular Fable 2 title.

The Knothole Island DLC pack will take you on an adventure to the remote island of Knothole. When there, you'll have to face the trials of three shines to bring the sun back to this now snow ridden island.

Weighing in at a modest 800 MSP, the Knothole Island DLC will be released on December 12th and promises new quests, wondrous items and bizarre characters. If you fancy tackling this over co-op, be warned now that both players must have downloaded it to play it.

There is also a free DLC patch due on the same date which includes a show of gifts, including Knight’s Boots, Assassins Gloves, a special Weight Loss Potion, collectible silver book and more. This is of course available for the premium content downloaders as well.

Good news I suppose. Been looking for an excuse to jump back in to Albion and now I have one. No news on whether it'll include additional achievements yet though but as soon as we know, you'll know.

I think this DLC shoud have probably included some way of getting more than the unique doll cos that achievement is so annoying as is the 'completionist'! :@

Didnt the game literally come out about 5 minutes ago. No matter DLC is always good when its for amazing games. At least thats what the reviews tell me, lol. I'll be getting it myself at Christmas.

800 MSP is a bit expensive for DLC. I prefer buying an XBLA game. Maybe I'll buy it when the price will drop but I have to get Fable II first (Santa Claus, I'm waiting for you ...).

Monday, November 24, 2008 @ 01:12:47 PM

I will be in if there are achievements for it. Other than that, I can't say that I will be fully involved in this DLC.

Monday, November 24, 2008 @ 01:17:17 PM

Not the news I was hoping for.

I'd much prefer a release detailing that they're ready to release a patch to fix all the problems in the game. Not information regarding on how they can take more of gamers hard earned money and laugh their socks off.

I struggled through all the problems and finished the game. But have not been on again and won't be until they fix the issues.

Monday, November 24, 2008 @ 01:24:49 PM

Achievements = Purchase

Fable 2 has been the biggest disappointment for me thus far on xbox 360. Fable 1 was great, but 2 just didn't meet the hype. Peter M. should be sent to Albion, to the torture chamber to be more specific!

Monday, November 24, 2008 @ 01:34:01 PM

I was going to write the same thing. Biggest letdown this year, more like fable 1.5 than anything. I never trade in my games as fast as I did with Fable 2. No regrets!

I know it's entirely subjective, but I'm amused that on the same day you describe Fable 2's 800-point cost as "modest" while accusing Ubisoft of overcharging. Your argument on it was reasonable, and I don't know how long this new DLC for Fable takes to complete, so maybe it really is a good value, but I still found that interesting =)

If additional achievements end up comming with it I still probably won't get it unless it's free. Hell, the new achievements would probably be glitched anyway .. or maybe they will have you buy a second DLC pack in order to get achvs from the first!!

to all of you that said fable 2 was over hyped, did you forget how much they promised us in the first fable game that we didn't get? not saying that its not a let down just that it was no where near as big of a let down as fable 1 was

Hoped they put the "Hat, Headband, Moustache" Book and the "Backflip" Book in the game... so I dont have to play those stupid Pub Games. : (

Monday, November 24, 2008 @ 04:20:33 PM

wow, i really am just shocked about how many people whine over silly things like video games. I frequent all the boards alot and i play alot of video games. I don't think you realize that everything isnt meant for everybody. i personally didn't like fallout 3. I played it for 5 hours and sold it. However ive got around 20 hours of fable 2 logged. Just saying quit flaming games b/c you didnt like em. just don't comment.

why is it that soo many people complain about the completionist achievement, i got it, and it was simple as pie, so it cant be that hard....

They complain because they don't have Pub Games.

Looks good, I should hope some extra achievements come out.

Monday, November 24, 2008 @ 04:36:34 PM

Hmmm, I'm still baffled about why they have set blocks like 400MSP and 800MSP when something like this should be between them. Oblivion wasn't perfect on the pricing for DLC but at least most of it was proportionate to the other stuff and what you were really getting....

I will probably pick this up in the future when I want to play Fable 2 again, once is enough for me at the moment!

I'll just buy and add Fable 2 back on my Lovefilm list if there's achievements, otherwise I'll pass.

Monday, November 24, 2008 @ 04:55:41 PM

Hmm...I might get this. If it has a few achievements added on to it, I will probably buy it, but I got the feeling that this bit of DLC won't be worth 800 MSP.

What I'm really baffled by is the "gifts" you are supposed to get. Why are they giving away seperate bits of clothing? I bet they are going to do something like that with all of the the DLC to try baiting people into buying it. Want the full Assassin outfit? Prepare to buy some more DLC.

Monday, November 24, 2008 @ 08:57:43 PM

between me and my girlfriend, we have logged probably close to 50 hours of play time in on fable 2. We have done all the expression statues, gargoyles, and keys.
never had any glitches, other then the random "Oh im stuck behind a tree" thing.
Im not saying I will never get any glitches, but for the time being we have never seen any. It sucks for people that do get them, but just like the RRoD, its a small percentage of a larger group. I think its an awesome game, and LionHead did an awesome job as a follow up.

People just need to stop BAWWWING and enjoy the game.

this game sucks, i still own it and it was a huge disapointment. But if they add the 250 to the game then ill download this pack for the achievments. Other than that, I cant wait til I can trade this disapointing ass game in. I tried enjoying this game but it was so small and only took 10 hours to get nearly 1k on it that I cant imagine the dlc taking more then 1 1/2 hours or 2 tops.

u can get the "completionist" 2 ways other than paying for it..

2.trade for the items: Hat, Headband, moustache and the dog backflip..

to me they broke no rules..

i reckon maybe 5 or 10 new achievements should do the trick but i want them to add up to only 50 gamerscore so then theres room for more dlc packs to go up to 1250 gamerscore eventually unless fable 2 wants to break the rules on achievements once again if they have further more content

Pretty good, give us a DLC even when the game has so many problems. I like mine, finished the Crusible the first time with every round perfect. Did the spire thing and went back to get more experience. Finished them all perfect again and when I open the chest for the second time it drops me on the stairs and freezes solid.

Hey LH, loved the game, but fix the problems before asking us to spend more money on your product.

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 @ 10:20:30 AM

This basically seems like a "sorry for the release fuck ups" pack. Only we're still paying for it, so we're still not square. A lack of achievements will get a pass on this from me, fable 2 wasn't that good, a serious letdown from the original.

If they don't add additional achievements to it, I highly doubt I'd pay 800 points for that. I mean, I'd rather spend that 800 points on Rock Band songs, seeing that I know those would be something I'd get to use more than once per play.

I particulary like the inclusion of the weight loss potion. Should stop all the overweight characters, like mine, running round lookin for celery. :D
