Burnout Paradise to Get New Achievements, Legendary Cars & Party Pack

Burnout Paradise to Get New Achievements, Legendary Cars & Party Pack
Written Saturday, November 08, 2008 by Dan Webb

I think it's safe to say that the dedication the Criterion team are showing their Burnout Paradise title and its loyal fans is absolutely incredible and pretty much unprecented. In the history of console gaming, no other developer has shown this much dedication to a title without asking for a hefty sum in exchange and Criterion aren't stopping any time soon.

In 2009, Burnout Paradise fans can expect to see at least two packs; the Party Pack and the Legendary Car pack. Chances are that each pack will cost money but hey, they've given us enough for free so it'd be rude not to support their development with a monetary reward every once in a while.

The Legendary Car pack will include 4 motors that are available "to buy individually or discounted, if you pick up the whole set". They include the Jansen 88 Special (pictured below that can hover with the click of the left joystick), the Cavalry Bootlegger, Manhattan Spirit and the GT Nighthawk.

The Party Pack encourages gamers to crowd around a single telly rather than hook up on line offering a whole array of challenges to delve into. This Party Pack is also said to feature both achievements and trophies; so achievement whores, mark February 2009 in the diaries, although I have a feeling that the achievements will be unattainable for most unless you can get 7 friends round to your house. Remember, shoes off at the door.

Criterion are also lining up "another killer announcement" soon, so stick around and we'll keep you informed. Either way; kudos on the dedication Criterion.

Sweet! Easily the best Burnout game and probably 360's best racer, great to see Criterion throwing so much support behind it.

Nice. Thats the one thing that this title has been lacking - party play on one console. I stil play the previous burnout title for that and coupled with the motorbikes, that's gonna be well worth however many points it costs

Burnout Paradise was a great game, it's wonderful to hear Criterion continue to release updates/content. Sadly I hate the UI and look of the Party Pack, but if it's good I'll still get it.

Maaaaaan... I'm gonna have to rent this again to keep my 100% on it? I enjoyed the game, but was very happy to get my 1000 on it, mostly cause I had rented the game from Blockbuster, and it was my second rental.

And 7 friends around my house? I don't have 7 RL friends, I have aquantances, nobody comes over, they all are at work.

8 people on 1 xbox???? you'll get 3 inch of screen space???? i dont think that will be right. probley be good 250G for completeing the motorbike campain and all challenges and maybe sumthing to do with the new cars.

Pretty awesome how they keep updating this game and adding stuff in. You usually don't get this kind of treatment unless you are paying monthly (like for an MMO).

Thinks it's 'pass the joystick' type multiplayer rather than split screen...so no worries on that 3" of screen space Vapourise!

Criterion really have looked after their (very loyal) fan base and Burnout Paradise rates not only as one of the best racers / drivers on the 360 but among the best games.

The constant stream of improvements have shown thought and care for the BP community...something a lot of developers should admire and aim to reproduce. The bikes are basically a separate game for free!

Now just if some other Developers could be like Criterion... I also agree that Burnout: Paradise city is a top notch game!

Interesting that they're still supporting this game. Since they had like one years between the earlier between the Burnout games. After Burnout 3 there was the fourth Burnout like after a year. They didn't support the earlier Burnout this much.

Anyways, I'm happy for the Burnout fans. But still, these DL contents won't probably make me buy this Burnout Paradise unless I'll find the game with a good price tag somewhere.

man, i don't really play this game much. Now these new things are coming out is really making me want to play. The game is hard to keep track of. There were no way of showing which race you have or have not done when you leave the game unplayed for a set amount of time.

The packs will not get money from me. I only get priced items when it is for a game i will be playing a lot, and this game is not one of them.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
