Treyarch Upset Infinity Ward Over World at War Promotion Written Saturday, November 08, 2008 by Dan Webb You know what ... I love it when developers are truly honest about their feelings; there's just something really refreshing about it and there's nothing better to wake up to on a Saturday morning than to read a rant by said developer to accompany my morning brew. The article in question is a blog post, written by Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert Bowling and is a direct response to World at War's Senior Producer, Noah Heller and his promotion of their game. In it, Bowling says "Seriously man…. You’re killing me! If I see one more Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare google alert come through my inbox, that ends up being a COD:WaW article that is only showing up because YOU referenced Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare more times than you mention World At War…. Especially when you’re pulling shit out of your ass. Come on man, interview about your game. Not OURS!" Bowling continues to school Heller on his PR skills and says, "A rule of thumb I like to use is…. when promoting your game. Promote YOUR game. Don’t compare it to another game, or reference what OTHER games did in the past, pitch YOUR game." In closing the rant, Bowling calls Heller, and I quote, "Senior Super Douche" and pleads with the gaming press to "please stop interviewing this guy" and "talk to someone who actually works on the Dev Team at Treyarch and knows what the fuck they’re talking about." See what I mean? Refreshing! Whilst we're on the subject of Heller talking "bullshit" as well, I have a tiny feeling his old, "we've got the best shooter this Christmas" statement might come back and bite him in the ass. My opinion may fit that of everyone elses, but that doesnt make it wrong. Ive played long enough on both to form a solid opinion and it sucks. Theres a reason that the vast majority dislike TA, and that doesnt make that point of view cliched. |

It does have a lot of features that COD4 had but why not use something that was good and make it even better. I like using WWII weapons more than some of the new ones in COD4. My thoughts exactly, anwyay CoD 5 is much like CoD 4 but its still quite fun and the game isn't just a multiplayer game, it has a campaign that can be played with up to 3 other players, and competitive version of that and a zombie mode. Those modes aren't new to other shooter but they are still gonna be fun and add more to the game by giving more to play than just multiplayer. Also I'm pretty sure Activision gave the CoD 4 gaming engine to Treyarch so they have no choice but to use, also it works so why change it completely, the only problem for me is that sprinting is still a pain. Basically this games feels like your playing on the COD4 platform, but with all the COD3 brokeness... Bad bad Treyarch.... so very bad! |

Many of the people I played against the beta said it's virtually no different than CoD4, except done in WWII era with different weapons and maps. It's not like they even tried to come up with something completely new, and instead just piggybacked on IW's engine and made a few tweaks here and there. And I can guarantee you, that some aren't. There's also going to be others that pick it up, and then return/trade it within a week of release. |

I wouldn't complain if I got stunned in hardcore but the fact that artillery stuns your teammates in a video game is ridicolous. Airstrike in cod4 had absolutely no effect on your teammates. Stop comparing to real life, and if treyarch is gonna attempt to make a game like cod4, then keep good things idk, the same. |

Treyarch has other franchises that they need to take care of, such as Spider-Man, Quantum Of Solace and other games. This makes them less focused on their other projects. I think CoD 5 is a great game overall and will buy it for the 4 player coop right with Left 4 Dead. Many games are fun just the way they are. You cannot compare them with one another and say it sucks, they are all different in style according to the developer. If all the games were the same, then there would be more boredom for all the gamers. |
