Vigilante 8 on XBLA This Wednesday

By now, most of you are counting the days, even minutes to the Gears of War 2 release on Friday. Some of you are sat in a corner avoiding spoilers from the inconsiderate who managed to get their hands on an early copy, while the rest of you are playing your way through Fallout trying to pass time quickly.

I am one of the latter and if Fallout 3 falls short this week, we've always got Wednesday's Xbox Live Arcade title to keep us busy; Vigilante 8, a remake of the classic from yesteryear.

The title, developed by Isopod Labs will cost you 800 MSP and allows gamers to step in to 8 tricked out, tooled up retro vehicles ready to wipe out the opposition. With a single player mode and a multiplayer mode on offer, this should keep gamers going well in to Re-Emergence Day.

I wish we could have got Twisted Metal, but this will do, it is better than Gripshift after all.

I don't know if this is an updated version of the original or an actual remake, but either way I'll get it at least at some point. I loved the original on the N64.

Been looking forward to this game since its announcement.

I've had the Isopod Labs blog on my RSS aggregator since then, as well, and this game will warrant a MS point purchase and a buy-without-try.

Yeah, I'm really excited.

Too bad that couldn't have released it last week - I'll only have the game for two days before GEARS 2!

I remember having Vigilante 8: Second Offense on my old N64, which is apparently a sequel to this game. My friend told me that they are basically the same, meaning I am probably going to be getting this one. Vigilante 8 and Twisted Metal are probably the only two games with cars in them that I actually enjoy playing. It's probably because of the large amounts of, you know, death and destruction.

@11 nah I mean gripshift on the arcade, the battle mode is very similar to this and Twisted Metal, but way more cartoony, and not as fun.

i just can't wait any longer i see some ppl playing gears 2 for a month already , why ???
this not fair they should get ban , if nothing happen to them this 11/19/08 i'm gonna mod my 360 too and play early games and free , this is bullsh1t cuz i send a email to M$ and a seem like they don't care i have spend over 2000 buck on games and assesories when this guys get the games almost for free all the do pay is internet a dvd burner and the doble layer dvd

@18 What the crap are you on about? I know people with retail copies of Gears 2, god knows how they managed to get hold of it though :S

I've been looking forward to this since I herd it was coming, I loved Vigilante 8 on the PSX can't wait to get this tomorrow :P

Unless Sony lets go of the rights to Twisted Metal, we are most likely not going to see it here on XBLA, which is very unfortunate. I really liked the first and second games, and the TM: Black one. I don't quite remember the third and fourth ones fondly enough, but they WERE developed by 989 Studios, so that may have something to do with it.

i know someone who got it early somehow. kinda makes me pissed but im asuming the online isnt enabled yet, so all they can do is farm some 1-player achievements.


and as for v8, been waiting since its initial release of spring 2008, and now i can get it. i hope they still have the giant ant alien
