New NXE Spells The End for 0 Point Gamercard Games
New NXE Spells The End for 0 Point Gamercard Games
Written Saturday, October 25, 2008 by Dan Webb

One of the things that has bugged most gamers (well, the anal ones (me included)) has been that demos used to leave nasty 0 point totals on your card, however, that's been remedied now, but it unfortunately wasn't retroactive.

Thanks to an article by CVG, it was revealed that now you will have the ability to delete not only the old 0 point demos, but any game that you have 0 points on. It states:

"The My Xbox tab lets you manage your Avatar and profile settings - basically all of the options you find on the current Xbox Guide. Your played games and their achievements are also neatly displayed on the horizontal scroll with a new bonus feature; you can now delete played games you don't want displayed from your list, as long as you have 0 Gamescore on them."

Happy days? Happy days indeed. At least I can say bye to that ghastly 0 from the Gauntlet demo from way back in December 05 ...  It's been keeping me awake for going on 3 years now!

I think that may be the greatest part of the update.
One question though: deleting it from your gamercard, I assume that means it deletes the 1000 possible from that game as well? If that is the case it will definitely up my completion ratio. I rented NCAA 07 just to get the final achievement in Madden 07, and I've been regretting it ever since.

Some original xbox games leave you with a "0"

This is good news. I have probably around 15 arcade demos that did that to me...

*Edit*

Well "some" might be all of them actually. I know the ones I have played (GTA series, Elder Scrolls III, Silent Hill 4) have left a zero. I don't think it counts towards your ratio though. Still an eyesore though...

I got a few, but i hope it means games other then demos too. It'd be even better if you could just delete any game data even if it means losing points you already earned. I got 7 games played that were friend's that i can no longer play unless i buy em or rent em. Goodbye Bejeweled, Astropop, and Crystal Quest at least.

this is really good because as a result of seeing the nasty number zero from some demos )whether from the 360 demo or arcade demo), it made me not want to get into playing demos and instead look for screenshots and read up on reviews online. i'm glad i can enjoy the demos again. looks like everyone wins as their unlock% ratio is going to shoot through the roof lol

I will admit, the demo games that leave a 0 should be taken away, but if you have ever played the full version of it, then I think that it needs to stay.

It'll be nice to remove those games that people have put in my 360 before signing me out. So long entries for GRAW2, Bully, Viva Pinata (That one was my fault, I got it with the machine and I really had to see that it was as gay as it looked, it was worse) the trial of heavy weapon & all my xbox originals.

Doesn't make any REAL difference to me but it should make the list load a little faster.

I'll be getting rid of a lot of zeros. Back before demos didn't display on your card, I used to download every xbla demo and try it out just for fun. I literally have like 30+ zero demos on there.

Plus when I first got my 360 back in 06, I used to put a lot of friend's games in my 360 just to see the opening and wouldn't play the games. Left with zeros. But regardless, I don't give a crap about percentage. What does it really matter in the big picture of life to have a less than stellar completion percentage?

Sunday, October 26, 2008 @ 06:29:53 AM

Sunday, October 26, 2008 @ 06:52:10 AM

@113

I agree. Really, people should concern themselves more with their percentage in grades for College or high school if they're still in it, then with completion percentage for video games. Play the games and have fun and don't worry if you can't get all 1000.

It really irritates me when I see people sometimes post comments that they won't even play a game if the achievements are too hard because they don't want to ruin their completion percentage! Get a life.

@114: You do realize this website is called "Xbox360Achievements.org", right? This is an achievements oriented community. If you only care about "playing the game for fun", might I recommend GameFAQs or somewhere else to hang your hat? Not that there's anything wrong with playing a game for fun, but if you come here it's because you are looking for info on how to obtain all of the achievements. It's like a meta-game...

Who would be stupid enough to instantly buy a game called Paperboy solely on the purpose that he used to be a paperboy?

Yeah, me.

@121- No, its people complaining about both. It's a game you played, why should it not be there? And they did fix it so that doesn't happen anymore anyway.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet (long page, don't feel like reading) but OLD Xbox games don't actually leave a 0 gamerscore on your GT. They're console-sided only. All you have to do is delete your gamertag off your console and migrate it back and they disappear.

This update is indeed awesome. Too bad I can't remove any game, as I have a few games with >100 I don't plan on revisiting.

Its purely for organization, some people dont want all those trial arcade games in the way of all their games with points.

Sunday, October 26, 2008 @ 09:03:30 PM

If you have 0 points on a retail game, you didn't play it enough to know whether it sucked or not. I keep waiting for someone to say "Goodbye Simpsons" which has that press start achievement.

Okay, you can make an exception for the games that took 5 hours before the first achievement...

For the Arcade Demos, however, this is good news.

@146: What f'in difference does it make? Go organize things around the house instead of worrying about a damn games played list.

Why would I delete 0's I have? I have no reason to. I've got a few of em, including a broken rental of Spiderwick. Still not gonna delete it.

Sunday, October 26, 2008 @ 10:51:34 PM

@151

isn't there an achievement in Hexic for making just 25 matches? i know these comments are here for people to rejoice about finally getting rid of 0s and not insulting people, but, if you had played the game before (hence the 0), how did you not get that one?

but to all worried about completion percentages-if you check the actual 'Achievements' section of the Games blade, you should see that 0 point games do NOT mess up your percentage. i have only one 0 on my gamercard (Fight Night). and whenever i check my number of achievements this way, the game is not even listed, so they were never a problem in this way at all.

This is very good news. It wasn't fair for people to have Live Arcade DEMOS counting against their completion numbers. You can't earn achievements in demos, so it was absolutely absurd in that regard. It took them long enough, but thank god this is finally being fixed. Even though it doesn't affect me personally, since I got my 360 in December (right after they fixed the demo problem).

But god, if only I could delete Yaris from my list. I got it right after buying my console, because it was free and because I was hard up for games to play. But good lord, that game is the definition of pain. Not because it's horribly hard, as much as it's just terrible. I'm gonna hafta get more points in it someday, but I don't think I have the patience to get that last one (earning a million coins). I'm

Sorry to double post; I didn't realize there was a size limit (and it chopped the end of my last message). Anyhow, I was saying how I can understand why they only allow people to hide their zero point games. If they allowed people to delete any game they wanted, it could wreak havoc on Microsoft's already-burdened servers...

Imagine how tough of a time all our favorite websites would have, in gathering people's gamercard data, if folks could just delete any game at will from their list. Not to mention, it could be unfair in terms of people manipulating their completion percentages. Someone could realize that a game is too hard for him/her, and delete it simply on those grounds.

I've got NXE and when viewing achievements,
if the game has a '0' gamerscore,
an option to "remove game history" is there.
I reduced my 91 supposedly played games
to 45 actually played games.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
