Next Far Cry Hinted At in Ubisoft Shanghai CV

Ubisoft Shanghai is apparently contributing to the next Far Cry title, that we're assuming will be called something along the lines of 'Far Cry 4' or some such. The revelation comes from the LinkedIn CV of one of the studio's staff, Design Manager Xavier Plagnal.

The CV in question includes a claim from Plagnal that he's been fulfiling the role of "content director on the next Far Cry" since September 2013, hinting that a Far Cry 4 reveal could be in the offing, possibly at this year's E3.

Ubi Shanghai has also lent its dev talents to Far Cry 3 in conjunction with Division dev Ubisoft Massive, Ubisoft Red Storm and Ubisoft Montreal. The smart money is on Far Cry 3's core developer, Ubi Montreal to be at the helm on Far Cry 4. We'll obviously know more once Ubi announces something official.

  • Far Cry 3 was amazing. Yes please.
  • I've already said. I am certain this and Mass Effect 3 will get revealed at E3. Ubisoft has amazed with a great game every year. 2012 Watchdogs and 2013 The Division spring to mind.
  • Far Cry 3 was a really fantastic game. I thought the gameplay was brilliant and the story was pretty good. I really rate it as one of the best single player experiences to be had on 360. I haven't got an Xbone yet, but I think Far Cry 4 would possibly be a game that might convince me to stump up that cash and get one.
  • With my man Cliff Martinez in charge of the tunes I just can't see how this can turn out anything but spectacular.
  • Far Cry 3 was awesome but i still find the 2 better.
  • I quite enjoyed FC3. Even if plot made little sense, it would a blast to play. Hopefully they can come up with some solid story now to complement great gameplay they already have in place=)
  • Far Cry 3 was the first game I've played of the series. After experiencing that, I fully plan to be first in line to pick up any future installments on launch day. Straight up awesome game.
  • One of my favorite games from last gen. I'll buy the next game without question.
  • Needs more ways the kill dudes with knives.
  • always happy to hear news about Fra Cry, looking forward to Far Cry Classics coming next month
  • Map editor needs to be fixed this time around. Vehicles online, weapon pickups, ai in custom maps, better lobby system and in-game downloading of player maps while in progress. If none of this is fixed or if there is no map editor in FC4 = No Buy Fool me once...ok Fool... Nevermind I'm not falling for broken multiplayer again.
  • I thought Far Cry 3 was okay. I'm about halfway through the story, and it's pretty solid. I played co-op with a buddy and was disgusted at it. It's not just hard, it's brutal. We played for 3 hours on normal and only beat the 3rd episode. I'm not sure why it takes 6 seconds to stab yourself with medicine, but it was way slower than in SP. Not to mention that you couldn't change loadouts and were stuck with one of four that may not have fit anyone's playstyle. Single player is enjoyable, but I think it's kind of silly to be able to make all the upgrades before even getting to Hoyt's island.
  • Bitch bitch bitch
  • I loved Far Cry 3. Was an amazing game with fantastic visuals. Map editor was not as good as the first game. Multiplayer was awful as well. But I found the co op to be very enjoyable and pretty easy. Wonder what a fourth title could bring to the table.
  • @12: What a baby.
  • @16: Looks like someone has never played Far Cry, Far Cry Instincts Predator, Far Cry 2 and probably even Far Cry 3. Maybe your should go to the FC community forums and see its not just me. Baby....
  • game was pretty fun but I thought that story could be better... like seriously, after you kill one VERY crazy and special character (you all know who) and replaced him with that other guy, I was left very disappointed :( that new character wasn't nearly as cool as the previous one and I thought that they could have done so much more! what was all that shit in the trailers all about?!
  • Yes please, I absolutely loved Far Cry 3.
