Rockstar and Jordan Brand Make Limited Edition Shoes to Celebrate Midnight Club: LA

Rockstar and Jordan Brand Make Limited Edition Shoes to Celebrate Midnight Club: LA
Written Wednesday, October 08, 2008 by James Parkin

Rockstar Games and Jordan Brand celebrate their “digital partnership” with a limited-edition sneaker inspired by the soon-to-be released Midnight Club: Los Angeles and Los Angeles street racing culture.

Taking their inspiration from the classic Air Jordan II released in 1987, the sneakers are a custom design for Rockstar Games styled in red and black with the official Midnight Club “Kanji” symbol emblazoned in red on the tongue.  Translated, Kanji means Bayshore - the location on the Japanese coast where street racing started.  Formed in 1985, the original Midnight Club was a Japanese street racing gang that hosted illegal races on the Bayshore Route of the Shuto Expressway between Tokyo to Yokohama. Regarded as one of the longest running street racing gangs, the Midnight Club became one of the most notorious and highly respected groups of its type.

The sneakers come in a custom-made etched acrylic collector’s box with a copy of Midnight Club: Los Angeles and together are valued at $380. Only forty pairs will be manufactured, fans of Midnight Club: Los Angeles can look to win them online on the Rockstar Games Social Club website (www.socialclub.rockstargames.com), or through a promotion with the Foot Action Star Club (www.footaction.com), as well as through a promotion with long standing partners DUB (www.dubmag.net).

Those shoes don't actually look too bad but $360 for a pair of shoes and a game? Jesus that's expensive!

Maybe they're trying to tell gamers to get outside more? Or maybe they just want more money. Who am I kidding, it's all about the money. But..shoes? Of all things to include with a game, why shoes? What's next, cookbooks? Petfood? A copy of Dianetics?

Gamers won't care about those shoes unless theres cheat codes, and strategies hidden in the soles.

Those are the most stupid looking and ugly shoes I have ever seen, anyone who buys this deserves to be beaten over the head by them.

Wicked might have to get this just for the shoes, not a big fan of the game but since I collect J,s they might have to go in the collection. $360.00 not bad I have some 3x or more the price and I get a game too that might not be bad.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
