GTA Online Capture Update Coming Today

A new collection of team-based modes called Capture arrives for GTA Online today, as part of a free update.

“With 20 new Jobs across four unique modes, this GTA twist on classic capture the flag style confrontations brings a whole new level of adversarial action to the world of Los Santos and Blaine County,” explains the Rockstar Newswire.

“Strategy plays a huge role as you run decoys, set traps and place obstacles to ensure your enemies don’t get close to your goods. These new Jobs are accessible in Freemode and spread across the four different modes.”

You can find descriptions of each of the modes, along with previews of a few of Rockstar’s “faves” below. The automatic update also adds fixes and dynamic tuning updates, full details of which can be found through here.

RAID

In Raid, you'll have to fight your way into your opponents' base and steal a package, then deliver it back to your base to score points. Reach the target score, or deliver more packages than your opponents do in the allotted time to win the match.

"Beachin"

Legal highs and bad t-shirts aren't the only things being pushed on Vespucci Beach. Four factions raid each other's stashes for control of the area's 'tourist trade'. Take product back to your spot and it's yours.

"Wargames"

Like any military operation, when things kick off at Fort Zancudo Air Base, they escalate pretty quickly. Teams stockpiling weapons to sell on the black market raid each other's bases at either end of the facility. If they get the goods back, they're banked. Nothing's off limits to be used here, including the fighter jets.

HOLD

When playing Hold, teams must collect and store as many packages as possible in their base. Packages can either be found on the map, or stolen from the opposing team’s bases. Reach the target score, or hold the most packages when the time runs out, to win.

"Block Party"

Gang violence escalates in Chamberlain Hills, as block fights block at close quarters. Four factions with two packages each try to raid each other and protect their own stuff. If they get someone else's product back to their turf, they'll have to protect it.

GTA

As the ubiquitous acronym might suggest, GTA mode tasks players with stealing target vehicles located all around the map, before bringing them back to their respective bases. Each team must fight to steal more vehicles in the allotted time than their opponents.

"My Maibatsu"

Four East Los car thief outfits compete to get hold of a shipment of Sanchez dirt bikes, and store them back at their bases, while preventing the other teams from doing the same. First place to look would be the Maibatsu Factory.

"Field of Screams"

A tractor shortage in Grapeseed leads to farmyard chaos. It's harvest time, and two rival gangs compete to bring a Fieldmaster tractor back to their bases. Farming is a deadly serious business in Blaine County.

CONTEND

In Contend, there's only one package, situated in the middle of the map. Teams must fight to bring this package back to their respective bases, and once the package is captured it respawns in the middle of the map and is up for grabs again.

"Salty Snatch"

Dog walkers and surfing talent agents look out - two import operations at either end of Chumash Beach are fighting over a shipment that's landed on the pier. Any product they can get to their spot in the sand is theirs to keep.

  • Great game but has killed my interest with all the fuck ups, save deletions cars missing, i just gave up in the end, same as BF4......
  • Cops & Robbers please!
  • Great news. Cant wait to get back on on Thursday after work.
  • Already available! 65 mb update and 3 mb "DLC"
  • no dont want. bring on the goddamn heists.
  • If I were ever to play this again, a Mafiya Work mode would be decent. But since I'm not likely to play this again,I won't know. The biggest mistake R* made was not having this game out last year, not two month before NextGen
  • I do like this game, but I always get bumped off GTA Online, due to "NETWORK ISSUES", so I can never get into a decent lobby, with more than one other person, let alone an actual game type. This doesn't happen with any other game I own, so I don't know what the issue is.
  • XBL expired at the wrong time.
  • If only you guys who keep complaining of how "messed up" the game was/is knew how to make a game then you would pipe down. You have a go at it.
  • #9 lol if you complain about your burger at mickey d's how about start working there?
  • @10 Yeah, I bet #9 complains about films all the time but knows fuck all about making films. the "you do it" argument is one that is so flawed
  • #9 Anyone who uses this logic is a ******* moron It's the same as someone slagging a football player for playing crap in a match! It's their job, they're professionals, a certain quality is expected and customers have every right to complain especially when it comes to buying their products, in this case GTA V
  • #6, if it was released last year, it would be the most bug-filled pile of rubbish ever made. And I really wish people would stop complaining when Rockstar add something to Online saying it should've been there when it was launched. You knew there wouldn't be much to start off with.
  • Fuck this update :/ Fixing north Yankton online glitch is plan stupid. There are people handing out a billions of dollars to everybody and people driving around with CE cars without the DLC AND they fix North Yankton?? What a joke.
  • i hope we can rob people apartments some day....
  • @14 They fixed a glitch, why u so mad
  • LOL @ Salty Snatch
  • @15 Hopefully you bust into people apartments so you can blast scrubs who hide inside with bounties on their heads. @16 I'm just saying R* needs to get there priorities straight. Why focus on a glitch that don't hurt anybody instead of one that can ruin it.
  • R* is doing the best they can, if you don't like this game because you didn't pay attention to the only promise they made about the launch(that it would have issues) then that is your problem & not theirs. This is the baby steps of GTA Online & to watch it grow is the most exciting part. Nothing like this MP has ever existed on a console, it's been a PC only world until now. You guys can't name a single title that has had the support this has so just allow them to sort it out of move on...
  • @18 Hiding in your apartment doesn't work anymore the bounty timer stays the same when inside same as if you have passive mode on.
  • @7 its your connection. A buddy of mine couldnt get online either and his connection is crap. He came over and logged in with his own gt and was able to play all day. then he got home and had the same problem u got. so get a better connection, and the entire xbl community will thank you
  • Seems like a lot of "go get the package/vehicle/flag/objective" and bring it back to your base. I need cops and crooks back and heists come on its been 3 months people are losing interest. I don't want to give up on it yet but this is getting absurd.
  • my buddy's step-aunt makes $82/hour ℴn the internet. She has been fired from work for 6 months but last month her pay check was $13120 just working ℴn the internet for a few hours. lℴℴk at this web-site..... WWW.23JOBS.COM ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬--------------------------▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
  • Maybe a little boring, but at least it's free. Any other company would probably charge you five bucks or more.
