Tomb Raider Underworld Gets Exclusive 360 DLC

Tomb Raider Underworld Gets Exclusive 360 DLC
Written Monday, October 06, 2008 by Dan Webb

Today Microsoft and Eidos announced an exclusive partnership on the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld game that will see the title get two additional downloadable chapters.

The chapters, titled Beneath the Ashes and Lara’s Shadow will offer two very different single player experiences and include up to 6 hours of new gameplay.

Beneath the Ashes takes place after the Underworld story has finished and will take the action to a brand new environment with plenty of new places to explore, new enemies to take down and hidden secrets to unlock. This chapter is expected to drop this side of Christmas but no price has yet been discussed.

Lara’s Shadow will introduce Tomb Raider fans in to a new kind of playable character which will create a new kind of experience ... Can anyone say Angel of Darkness? *shudders* This chapter is said to drop in early 2009.

In addition to all the great Tomb Raider news (I'm not saying that the news of an additional playable character is good by the way *shudders again*), Eidos announced that fans will get the chance to sample Underworld when the demo drops this October.

I lost interest in Tomb raider since the playstation 1. This game looks pretty good, and might get me back into the series.

sounds neat-o, even more of a reason to pick up a 360 version over a PS3 version, hopefully the DLC will have some more achievements.

Yeah, I got 1000 on Legend but only 20 on Anniversary, too. :p

Definitely will be trying out the demo as soon as it comes out.

i loved the first games, but then it started to become stupid, the high point of stupidity being Legend, but then Anniversary got me loving Lara again... hope this one has the same effect...!

I agree with #8. Since barely any games want to go exclusive to a platform anymore, now the big thing for Sony & Microsoft is to get into pissing matches about who can get exclusive DLC. First GTA IV, then Mirror's Edge, and now Tomb Raider. I won't be surprised to see many more announcements like this in the coming months.

Oh I forgot Bionic Commando on the PS3 had something exclusive too, and the Star Wars characters in Soul Calibur IV were exclusive to their own platform.

Anyways, I'm a big fan of Tomb Raider and will be buying this game.

And you forgot Fallout 3's 360 exclusive DLC.

exclusive content is a what gamers buy on the console they want, it's a marketing strategy, whichever company can cough up the money, they get it, simple as that, i.e 360's GTA IV's content that should of been released 3 months after the game came out not near xmas time lol

agreed with #8 I own A PS3 and i'm not bragging but I don't like this shit either, I am gonna buy this for the 360 though and it will be nice for add-on content, but it rips a new one on the system that brought this franchise to light

I really liked Tomb Raider: Legends, haven't been able to get my hands on Anniversary, but I'm definitely getting Underworld. :)

What, Microsoft trying to make money has gotten out of hand? News flash: all of the companies are trying to make money. If this is how they have to do it, so be it. There's nothing wrong with exclusive content. It's better than the entire game being exclusive to one console.

@19 so ur saying Gears 2 should be on the PS3 as well, I say HELL NO unless they bring over Kingdom Hearts or God Of War

@15: What he was saying is each console had its own exclusive character.

Maybe the dlc will come out on disc with the original game like they've done in the past. Would be nice to get all the content just for renting.

Had it preordered since like, last May...can't wait. Only disappointed with Legend...not only too easy but not many achievements unless you download Anniversary which I didn't because I had the game already...grr.

Hey, maybe they'll make the first DLC free to those that preordered at Gamestop, or something like that.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
