Over the years I'v learned to fear this word 'episodic'. It usually means you end up paying more for less content. No thank you.Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:10 AM
@1 You hit the nail on the head... What's worse.. "Episodes" or "Micro Transactions"?Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:10 AM
“We don’t want Fable Legends to stop when you finish the game" I think they meant to say "We want more money once you finish the game"Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:31 AM
Sigh. Can't we just have a completed game with all of it's aspects completed at the time of purchase? Tired of having to always worry about that I'm not getting everything when I make my initial purchase.Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:35 AM
as much as I liked fable 2 and 3, I have a feeling this isn't going to be goodMonday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:36 AM
Fable Legends Might Just be Season One," says Lionhead - which really means, how can we milk the fuck out of this game.Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:42 AM
I find it bizarre that "Game of the Year" seems to only ever be awarded to single-player games that sells tens of thousands of copies (Skyrim, Walking Dead) yet companies refuse to invest in sprawling self-contained epics and keep trying to cram episodic/MMO/microtransaction/FTP yearly-interval garbage down our throats.Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:42 AM
just like edler scrolls online? $15 monthy?Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:43 AM
Just give me a fable 2 clone with a new story and better graphics Gall!!!!Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:46 AM

I am waiting for the remastered fableMonday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:57 AM
Why can't we just get Fable IV? :-(Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 11:01 AM
"We haven't finished making this game yet, but don't worry we aren't going to delay it. We're going to realise in it's uncompleted glory then you can pay for the rest later."Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 11:07 AM
@7 Cool so you have two examples, one of which actually contradicts your point (Walking Dead is THE episodic game - you literally only get 1/6 the game this point which you purchase it). That said...who cares about all this? Right now, it doesn't matter. It will remain to be seen whether Lionhead includes enough content to justify the initial purchase but that's really all that matters. Anyone who refuses to buy a game solely because there will be DLC is, frankly, an idiot.Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 11:16 AM
Of course it's not an MMO, MMO means "Massive Multiplayer Online". People keep attaching MMO to things that aren't, like Diablo 3 or any other game that has less than 10 people playing in one room. And as soon as you take away character customization, my interest in Fable goes out the window. For a game series that was based off choices, stripping them away leaves you with something other than Fable.Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 11:23 AM
Come on people just give it a chance first!Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 11:48 AM
@14 if this Fable game is episodic in the same way that the Walking Dead was (meaning you can own the ENTIRE game for less than the cost of other retail titles) I would welcome it. But everyone here knows that won't be the case. Also, I merely provided the two most recent GOTY winners. All winners from this generation are single-player only or single-player-centric. Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted 2, GTA IV, Bioshock, Oblivion...Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 12:01 PM
seems like next gen is going to be VERYYY EXPENSIVE. ill keep my 360 for awhileMonday, October 21, 2013 @ 12:10 PM
@1 Not necessarilyMonday, October 21, 2013 @ 12:54 PM
by classic do they mean Fable 1? That would be awesome #9 Fable was the worst of the Fable games I think the Kinect one was betterMonday, October 21, 2013 @ 02:01 PM
Hey, does anybody remember Spartan Ops season 1...yeah me either. Hope this goes well for the fable lovers out there but like @1 said, hope it doesnt come to that!Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 02:47 PM
Yes please.Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 05:49 PM
Well. this series just keeps going downhill doesn't it. Perfect example of what happens when a series is milked with "new ideas" being implemented.Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 07:33 PM
@21 that depends I actually do remember it and enjoyed it me and a few friends had some great times with it. ON topic though this can go one of 2 ways, one way is they add content and new levels for free for season 2 in small doses *they could do this If people buy the game digitally as a promotion (as with digital games the profits are higher). or a decent amount of content for a fair price. 2nd option is very little content charging a bit of money . Sense with every generation the changing of the guard happens so with the people now handling the xbox we have no idea which method they will take. But from what I hear they are leaning towards option one as there is a few games that have already stated they will be giving free updates and downloads to keep there game fresh with the new system. (zoo tycoon developers have stated this)Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 10:39 PM
As much as I love fable, Lionhead, how about a new Black & White game for the xbox one?Monday, October 21, 2013 @ 11:26 PM
@27 YES!! Black & White WAS unique, it WAS innovative, and it did what Lionhead promised, delivered an unique experience with adaptive learning. There were big promises and for once they followed through. The Dog doesn't live up to owning a giant Ape or Tiger to do your bidding, you can't train it to pick up people and throw them into the ocean, or treat the villagers as crispy treats, or pick up giant boulders and heave them into innocent villager's homes for the sake of entertainment. If anything, blend the concept. Let us have a pet Golem that will terrorize or assist the locals according to your moral path. Or a damn Balverine. Fable is crying for something new, if I go through another adventure with garbage armor, extremely limited quantity of weaponry, and spend an hour solving a riddle to open a demon door to simply get a potion I could go buy in unlimited quantites at the local shop i'm going to snap. There's no reason why it can't be more like Kingdoms of Amalur with a ton of loot colored on rarity, a massive and expansive world that will take 75+ hours to complete and give us a pet similar to those seen in Black & White. THEN maybe Fable will finally deliver the experience they have been promising for the last 3 games and failed to deliver.Tuesday, October 22, 2013 @ 12:45 AM
The only time episodic has ever worked is for Telltale's various point and click gamesTuesday, October 22, 2013 @ 01:55 PM
I am excited for Legends. Hopefully they deliver full games every time. They could do a really good job on episodic content if they do it right.

Upcoming Xbox One exclusive Fable Legends will evolve over the course of years, Lionhead hopes, with episodic content taking the story forward.
That’s according to game director David Eckelberry, who has clarified a little how multiplayer will not impinge on the game’s narrative.
“The storyline is absolutely there and very important,” Eckelberry told IGN. “Of course there’s a higher purpose with a broad storyline that combines the various quests. But we tell new stories all the time. That’s the beauty of episodic content.
“We don’t want Fable Legends to stop when you finish the game. You should think about seasons and episodes. Fable Legends might just be Season One and we can add new quests and stories in the future, in the form of DLC for example.”
We’re still a little muddy about precisely how Fable Legends will work, beyond this new info and Lionhead boss John Needham’s assertion that "It's not an MMO. It’s an online game that combines the classic Fable gameplay that we love with the online capabilities and graphical power of the Xbox One."
Whatever shape and form it takes, Fable Legends clearly has its own ideas. You can read more about the game in our preview.
