Some reviews are just influenced by brand name, instead of actual substance.

Fun thing is: XP and Money boosting is still possible on missions by pressing "RT" to restart instead of "A" to continue to the lobby choice screen. Blocking the "Again"-button on the lobby choice screen didn't fix anything. It's not even really an inconvinience. It's plain and simple not thought through.
And with how unbalanced the rewards are boosting was obvious. Why would I return 2 cars for Simeon for a 2k reward when I can do a mission that takes 3 minutes instead of 10-15 minutes and i get 9k reward?

With the amount of bugs, glitches and anger from the people who have purchased the game, I am left wondering how long it will be until people deem it to be unplayable to the point that Fifa 10 was (and that came dangerously close to being taken to court for it, if memory serves) as from what I have found in the online, is that it is unplayable 90% of the day, unbalanced (90% of missions give you the same XP and Money even though they range in difficulty and time), half of the content is missing (which they bragged and showboated prior to the online launch) not to mention its a continuous bug fest where people are losing money, characters are withdrawing money when you aren't in control of them, xp loss, character loss, property loss, car loss (still isn't fixed), game lobbies are broken and many more bugs such as crashing.
On another sub note to Rockstar for stopping you from being able to repeat missions:
People only replay the same missions that are good for money and XP because all the other missions lack the incentive to do them. Rule number one with online missions, make them worth your players while. Why not give us a bonus when we complete it for the first time, up the XP and money to promote people to play them. Not only that but when you have to spend 10 minutes to get a match/mission that lasts 30 seconds before you have to spend another 10 minutes to get another is not good gameplay at all and it was a good idea to allow people to replay missions as it meant an almost near instant next match without the 10 minute wait till you could get the servers to a condition that ensures we spend 99% of the time we spend on it in missions and not in a loading screen.

Did any of you making this increadibly bold statement even try playing SimCity after launch? It's still not 100% sorted, I bought the SimCity at launch and couldn't play it for nearly 2 weeks, and GTA:O is and always has been at a better state than SimCity. |
I understand that some people have lost their data and thats going to be really frustrating hell I'd be pisssed off too, but some of you guys are going way overboard. I haven't encounterd any problems with online except for day 1 lag issues and the occasional server timing out.

@4 totally agree with you. im sure x360a are bias towards GTA games as GTA 4 didnt deserve the score it got that game was horrible and even though GTA 5 is a very good game i still dont think it deserves 100 if skyrim got 99. when if i remember they said skyrim would have got 100 if it wasnt for some smaller texture pop in problems which GTA 5 has the same problem.
and my point was confirmed when they gave a BROKEN online game an 8/10 which even when it does get fixed there isnt to much to do really.
these days im positive people review games before actually playing them and just review they based upon the name of the game. thats why ign keeps giving cod good reviews.
finally i think its a load of crap that rockstar are saying they didnt expect that amount of people to go online when even though gta sold faster than cod and dont hate me just because im using cod as an example but cod around the same people trying to access its online when the game launches i remember going on to black ops 2 on launch day and between multiplayer and zombies there was 1.2million players online and i had no problem so these server issues that GTA is having is a joke and rockstar should be ashamed in them selves that they spend 170million on a game that doesnt even work at launch.

Personally apart from some freezing first two days & my character going missing for a few hours when the cloud was done I've had no problems.
Seems I'm in the minority though, amazed at how many of the people on my friends list who have already moved on to other games, not a great sign.
With the introduction of microtransactions it stands to reason they'll be blocking exploits. Not that bothered.
I repeated V/Duct a few times to level up in my 20's & it bored me senseless, now just jumping around playing whatever takes my fancy & enjoying it far more.
For those who have commented that levelling up takes ages, I'm at lvl 42 with only a few levels through grinding. Yeah 100 (or 120 to get the minigun) will take time but enjoying it so far & there is the promise of free dlc, come on heists!

@31 Don't get me wrong, the server issue is a problem, but there is a big difference in letting a million people onto COD at once (to play in small groups on tightly structured, small maps) and letting the same number of people loose in a massive open world game where they can basically do what they want - play tennis, drive around in cars, rob banks etc.
The amount of variables in GTA when you compare it to any other online game is ridiculous and there is no way they could have tested having 1 million plus people just doing whatever they liked before it launched.
This was always going to happen, hell Rockstar even came out before the online section launched and SAID there would be lots of bugs, issues etc. Hopefully it all gets fixed and everyone can have a good time. But even if you didn't have the online option there is still a massive single player game to get into - so it's not like people have literally nothing to do.

the game is STILL broken, it is not playable due to the character deletion bug that could STILL happen to anyone, i want to play, i can play but im reluctant to do so in case i have start all over again.
if i could power level to recoup my losses, no problem, annoying but hey its not too bad. but no, they stop people regaining what they had BEFORE fixing the big killer for the online.
anyone defending this mess of a game needs their head examined, to see if their is actually anything in there.

Even 'IF' the servers were perfect, no bugs whatsoever, it still doesn't even warrant a 8/10 it got. They summed up online perfectly. TDM/Races/Jobs are all hella easy and get stale very very fast. Only fun thing is the freeroam, and even then it's only fun with friends. Pretty much they said 75% is boring, yet still gave it an 8/10.. Makes perfect sense no?

@32 yes they could have and should have tested it with millions of people just by putting out a beta for the online a few months before the game launched. with how many people that bought the game i'm sure they would have had more than enough participants in it to properly test it. also the game should never have launched until the online was fully tested and ready to play on day one of the games release.

@36 LOLCAT!!! With the amount of secrecy that goes on around a GTA release (when them releasing ONE screenshot becomes news) do you really think they would go for an open beta with millions of players? What a foolish idea.
In fact, who opens up a beta to that many people EVER? If you expect an online offering of this scope to be completely flawless on day one then you clearly don't know much about game development.
Not saying they couldn't have done more to fix some of the more obvious issues, but you still have to be realistic. I'd also point out that the online portion of the game WASN'T even available on day one of the games release - so they did hold the online back to do more work on it clearly.

@38 its not about opening beta to millions, its pretty apparent that the cloud service is not stable, with a open beta this MAJOR problem would have surfaced and could have been corrected much sooner.
Example - Removing the ability to create a temporary character when servers aren't available permanently would prevent save files being overwritten.

I don't even play the game but come on Jackanape. So what if the online wasn't ready day one? They could have still held a closed beta to test some of the online functionality. The only reason not to would be because they thought the launch would be smooth, which it wasn't, or they didn't want people to find out the online gets lackluster pretty quickly and soon enough you are just having fun with friends. I've done a lot of reading on the online experience, and a large consensus is even if it worked properly it's get dull fast. Which is not a good sign. Now I don't know if this is what they intended, but it looks like Rockstar wanted to boost sales to high heaven by touting Single Player and Multiplayer. Except the key to this is keeping multiplayer under wraps and withing the last month before release tell everyone it will release two weeks after the game ships. They tell people this is to make sure it works. That should have been a warning flag that something was wrong. Even closer to release they said by the way when the online launches there are going to be quite a few bugs, but yeah we'll work on that. Another red flag that something is off. Then when it does come out and it's bungled they have the stones to say they did not expect THAT MANY people. How could they not have? I know they sure as heck knew how many people pre ordered the game and how much money they were making. Do they not look at the internet? Did they not see all the people literally waiting for online to open up so they could have fun? So instead of actually testing the online ahead of time, or holding a beta, they release it in a fairly broken a choppy state. The point being is that look at bloody Dark Souls 2. They are going to be holding lots of Betas because they want their online to be good and functional when the game releases. If you have a complex or big multiplayer mode why would you not hold a beta? It really really looks like Rockstar wanted to rake in all the money before unleashing the multiplayer and having it be a broken mess and have lots of people move on. I'm not saying that's what they did but that is very much what it appears to be. I have a hard time believing any company doesn't expect "that many" players when they hype it up and down the road and they were making the pre order numbers they made. I'm not saying making an online service is easy, I'm just saying these problems could have largely been taken care of with some proper planning.

And i quote from the Review from X360A:
"Granted, it wasn’t the smoothest of starts for Rockstar’s highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto Online, but thankfully a lot of those problems are now behind the hugely ambitious online multiplayer experience."
"Thankfully" ... "Those problems are now behind" ??? REALLY?? NICE! ...... Lets give it 8/10 because it is Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto title.
I usually do not read reviews in here because the main reason to visit this site are the Achievements and the News but now for sure i will never read another Review. This was the last one. Lame!
Do not get me wrong i personally believe that Rockstar is the best developer ever as long as we speak for the single player experience and the richness of the worlds they create. The attention to detail, the political (and not only) humor etc.
I am a huge fan from the first GTA (top-down) .. heck even the Rockstar Table Tennis was amazing and awesome.
For this Online mode they made ... i can never give them 8 even if i love them so much. I care about what they do and this is Unacceptable. The most it can get in a review is 3/10. Period. I refuse to spend my time to this Monstrous .. shity .. GTA online. I already lost 3 characters, 1 house, 80.000, my initial car (insured of cousre), and the first 5 days i could not even pass the tutorial because it couldn't load. I spend so much to this that i am afraid to continue doing that only to login the next time and have to start over.
Is it good when it works? Yes! But the thing is that there are thousands if not millions affected and "When it Works" is not enough.

@48 and all the other people talking about beta's. Do you guys realize that 9 out of ten times Beta's are used for games that mainly focus on multiplayer? How many games in the past that have beta's have better single player than multiplayer? I'll wait... Let's say Rockstar did put out a beta, that would allow us to see GTA before it's release and meet random characters that are crucial to the story before it's release. Rockstar shares very little with it's fans when it comes to the games especially allowing us to play it before it's out.

With the replay mission issue I am at work so have not tried the new patch but what if you fail a mission - can you retry?
Also it is stupid in that often you are in a group and go through various different event types and then you have one of those games - a close finish, mayhem, everyone enjoys it and you decide lets do that again.
There are many innocent reasons to replay a mission other than boosting. I reckon they should rebalance the xp per minute rather than lock people out of innocent reasons to replay missions.

This is such a misleading article, at least wait until you have all the information before posting something with such a ridiculous (and untrue) title. All of the bitching here has come about because of people thinking the title update doesn't fix the issue of losing characters, which it most certainly does.
Full patch notes:
• Fixes multiple issues causing character deletion or other loss of progress
• Fixes issues causing infinite loading, infinite sky cams, and missing interface options between jobs
• Fixes an issue causing the "replay" option to be locked out on certain jobs
• Fixes an issue where a player would become stuck in the mod garage when respraying a Sanchez motor bike
• Fixes an issue where the Player became stuck inside Los Santos Customs during Online tutorial flow.
• Fixes an issue causing the loss of guns and ammo
• Fixes issues causing GTA races ending early because of players spawning too far ahead
• Fixes issues in Last Team Standing where sessions would not progress past the lobby
• Fixes issues with network errors when joining Last Team Standing using Quick Job
• Added clarifications around when a player is using a temporary character in GTA Online during Rockstar Cloud server outages
• Adjusts the monetary penalty for being killed in a One on One match
Such a ridiculous article. How would you even know that this statement made in the article is true before the notes are released: "What it hasn't done, however, is fix the problem that has led to some players loosing their characters, cash and progress."? Unless you lost a character after the patch, you won't know that it hadn't been fixed. Oh and it's "lose" not "loose".
I get the feeling this was posted just to get some frenzy going in the comments section. If not, then the idiot that posted it needs to have a think next time he's going to post ludicrous statements before any info has been released.

You nailed it on the head. This games online review would be shit if it was developed by someone we never heard of but gave us the exact same experience. And I think they are being nice about the view, not only cause it has the title of grand theft auto, but because of the single player. Only thing I like at all about online so far is customizing your car and characters apperance in game. And going to skate parks on your bmx

The reviewers and mods on this site are getting bad.
There was another article where some kid commented about an articles info being "old" and a mod with the gt Webb freaked out at him.
Isn't it the mods responsibility not to be asshats? Apparently not on xbox360cheevos

Seriously stop moaning about x360a's review, it's someone's opinion! If you hate gta online so much just bail out and play something else... More importantly don't waste your time trolling the comments section, people are here to discuss what has been fixed (or not) not to bitch about a fucking review even though 90% of the world disagrees with you and thinks it's awesome!
OT - can anyone confirm if you can still replay missions? I don't see why they'd take it out when eventually you're just gonna be able to make you're own mission playist and exploit it however you see fit

@4: SimCity did not have a better launch than this. SimCity was completely unplayable in any form. GTA 5 still has a fully functioning single player that you can play while the online gets worked on.
Until all of GTA 5 doesn't work and you spent $60 on a paperweight rather than a game, it's not a worse launch than SimCity which again was completely unplayable and people had spent their money on something they could not play in any form.
