Banjo-Kazooie XBLA Dated; Banjo-Tooie Announced

Banjo-Kazooie XBLA Dated; Banjo-Tooie Announced
Written Thursday, September 25, 2008 by Alan Pettit

Microsoft are Rare announced today that the Xbox Live Arcade version of the highly popular N64 game Banjo-Kazooie will be available November 26th for 1200MSP ($15).

Be sure to remember though, pre-ordering Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts will give you a code that will give you the opportunity to get it 2 full weeks ahead of the normal release. (Assuming direct math, that would be on November 12th, the same day as Nuts and Bolts' US release.) For only a $40 price-tag that really is an amazing deal.

Additionally, they announced that the less-popular sequel Banjo-Tooie would be available on the Arcade in early 2009.

WAHEY
iv already preordered it
but normally in the uk if you preorder a game that has somethig with it, you have to buy the game before you get the extra
surely theyre not going to give me a code for this before i get the game ?

I'm kinda turned off by the price, and I mean, it's a great game, and it's worth it, but I already own it on the N64 and $15 for the ability to play it on a 360 for achievements...

Hell, who am I kidding, I'll pick it up anyway =P. If I buckle in and go for Nuts & Bolts as well then I get it for free anyhow, so whatever. I'm holding off popping the cart in for another spin 'till this is released, so I'm looking forward to it =D

To #1, I'm sure they'd only give codes with the games when you pick it up.

Can't wait for both games to come out. 2 games for 39.99! A bargain!

Are they really updating it enough that people will be willing to pay 1200 points? I don't mind because I reserved Nuts & Bolts already, but I'm sure SOMEBODY will complain.

@Comment #4: Not very bloody likely. I would expect Live & Reloaded on Xbox Originals, if anything. Sure, Rare could surprise us, but I doubt it.

For $40 it's a great deal, though it appears to be £40 in the UK (double the price!) So not quite so amazing for us Brits. Good news about Banjo-Tooie though. :0)

@Comment #6: Are you sure that isn't some kind of mistake on Rare's part? I can't really see them getting away with charging twice as much for a game in Europe as they do in America. Yes, games (and electronics in general, as I understand it) tend to cost more in Europe (makes importing handheld games they don't release over here very pricey), but THAT much? I would find it hard to believe more than 30 pounds, but I could be wrong.

@comment#7 i wish £30 in uk your lucky to get 360 new release for £40 rrp is £50-55 thats bout $100-110 i think and we get most games months after america eg rock band.

But on topic they could make these achievements really hard as nintendo games are generally very in-depth with lots to collect and explore as was banjo

hey somtimes they do E-mail you codes if you get them free with game (pre-order) at least that what happened with me for mercs 2. (although it was only additional content for that game)

Think ill preorder this too sounds cool. never played banjo before so the free game kinda pulled me into it.

I've already pre-ordered this game with Amazon.com for $3.00 cheaper even, so I'm only paying $37.99. You can't beat that at all! And judging from screenshot, the game does look visually enhanced quite a bit. I'm not sure about it being worth 1,200 points, but 800 definitely. I'd still pay the 1,200 points just because its a great game and Rare is my favorite development company out there for gaming if you ask me.

Wow, 1200 points seems a bit steep for an old game. MS and Rare are obviously overpricing the game to make more people do the Nuts and Bolts deal instead so more people will play it. Pretty clever when you think about it.

To be fair, 40 pounds is the standard price for a new game in the UK (in-store is usually as much as 50 pounds) and getting a free premium XBLA game is a better deal than any other game offers. Rare/Microsoft's UK pricing is no worse than any other publisher's. But honestly... with a $15 XBLA game thrown in, you're really only paying $25, which is, what, 13 or 14 quid? You'd have to wait 6 months to get a game second-hand for that price over here.

1200 points is rediculous! I remember when 800 points was expensive for an Arcade game. Now they charge 800 points for anything as "complicated" as Samurai Showdown.

Wait for the Arcade game to drop to 800 points if you don't want to buy the new 360 game. Even 800 points is too much, this is an N64 game!!

@32, the difference in an arcade game and an N64 game should be pretty obvious. Banjo Kazooie was an adventure game, and a great adventure game at that. This game is HUGE compared to what? Castle Crashers/Braid? This game is by far much better than either, guaranteed. Castle Crashers is fun, but this is a GAME. Despite whether or not its N64 old, it still doesn't mean it isn't an epic. You seem clouded by this new generation as you can't appreciate great games. Its not really an "arcade" game per say, but an actual GAME..1200 is cheap in my opinion for a great game, but as I said, I have it pre-ordered.

Well, unless I decided to pre-order the new game and get the code for a free download, this game is going straight into the pile of overpriced games. Now Braid and Castle Crashers will have a new friend!

@34
Although not my fav game i completely agree. Take something like, I dont know, Final Fantasy 5. I played it again recently a couple of years ago and got 90+ hours of gameplay. Graphically worthless but the GAMEPLAY is what its all about. I would pay 1200 points for 90 hours! thats a whole lot more than any game these days.

So stop bitching people.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
