Team Ninja has released some screens and details regarding Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate’s new “2 on 2” tag mode.
Making its debut in the DOA series, the 2 vs. 2 tag mode allows players to fight alongside an ally against another team online. In tag matches Grade Points are earned for both players which can then be spent on unlocking new costumes.
In addition to this, players can compete to attain the new Prize Fighter ranking. “Four different ranks can be earned by winning consecutive ranked matches: Bronze Fighter, Silver Fighter, Gold Fighter and Platinum Fighter,” explains Team Ninja.
“Prize Fighters earn extra Grade Points with wins and those who defeat another Prize Fighter receive a GP bonus. Grade Points have been updated now allowing for players to earn up to Grade U from S+. Bonus GPs are rewarded when fighters move to the next grade level.”
Beyond this, Character Points show each player’s aptitude with the character they have selected, so you can tell if they’re using their best fighter; the online code is also improved and there’s a ton of new costumes - 231 in total.
