Square Enix has announced that Eidos Monstreal's Thief will be coming in February 2014, to both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Thief marks the return of master thief Garrett, who finds himself caught amid the conflict brewing between Baran Northcrest and the oppressed people of The City, led by the self-proclaimed voice of the people, Orion.

As The City finds itself teetering on the brink of revolution, Garrett will walk the line between politics and people, while still finding time to steal stuff.

Thief will be launching on February 25th, 2014 in North America and February 28th, 2014 in Europe and other PAL territories. Check out the new 'Uprising' trailer below.

  • this game looks amazing
  • This will defo be first brand new game I get next year. So hyped for it=D
  • i'm not a pro at stealth games. does anyone know if the detection system will be fairly forgiving?
  • Please don't let the 360 version be vastly inferior to the XB1 version. I can't afford an XB1 just yet.
  • Actually, will it be worth getting this on the Xbox One or it it going to be similar to the 360 ? Thoughts ?
  • i am glad this is coming to the 360 if i remember correctly, this was supposed to be a next-gen only game when it was first announced i have never played the previous thief title(s), but this game really looks amazing
  • Going to be my first purchase of 2014. Looks incredible!
  • Can't wait to play it on the PS4.
  • Day one on my PS4 unless it clashes with Infamous.
  • My body is ready !!!!
  • Absolutely a day-one buy for me! Time to be stealthy again.
  • dammnn
  • Brilliant I getting Thief for Xbox One. :D
  • Stupid question time: is this game in third person at all? I want to say I remember playing a demo for 'Thief' way back on the original Xbox, and I could have swore I was playing in third person. Is it something they changed, or am I just confused? Either way, the game looks really fun and I'm looking forward to a stealth-based next-gen game. Probably the first purchase I make of 2014, as well.
  • #14 Hey man it is first-person stealth-action and watch some of 10 mins gameplay for PS4 version here for example. Xbox One is of course will be same since same version anyway. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_92864&feature=iv&src_vid=0tAZg2NR_qY&v=XHGJ33Co_cw
  • #8, Can you seriously stop posting about getting games for the PS4 on every single post on news of a next gen game. No one cares. Go say it on PS Trophies, not on XBOX Achievements.
  • Yes yes yes! :D Fingers crossed for a CE with a Garrett statue! Absolutely love the Thief series, seriously excited for a next gen version. :)
  • @14 - Yes, I'm pretty sure it was both third and first person on the Xbox? Wasn't it first person in free look mode or something? It was a loooong time ago now! My memory isn't what it used to be, lol
  • The original 2 games were only first person however the third entry in the series had both options (which was the one on xbox). I thought I remembered reading somewhere that this one was first person only, but having both options would be nice.
  • @ 16 No! I am 360 gamer who uses this site for achievements and I enjoy the articles.
  • From what I've read, this one is third-person, but can (or will) go first-person where needed. I played the first two (Thief: The Dark Project & Thief II: The Metal Age) on the PC many years ago, and still play them from time-to-time. I was used to the first-person style, so when Thief: Deadly Shadows (Xbox & PC) came along... I was concerned about playing it in third-person view, but I got used to it quite easily (even though you can switch views on-the-fly). Sometimes, you NEED to go into first-person... as something may not be seen because your character is blocking the view. I bought "Deadly Shadows" for the Xbox, first... but bought it for PC later on... and it plays quite nicely on the PC (using an Xbox controller). I am eager for the new game, and glad to see a release date (finally)!
  • Oh... and I'll be getting the 360 version of the game first - unless I get an Xbox One before that release date. Still... I might get it on both consoles. Play my favorite game series, AND get achievements for it? AWESOME! I'll even get it for PC (IF it has achievements). If not... I'll get it on PC when it drops in price. I'm hoping the PC version might have some features that the console versions don't (level editor, command-line options, mods to tweak game elements, etc.).
  • @20 You clearly don't care about achievements if you're jumping ship to PS4 and the articles are pretty much the same between here and PS3T. Go suckle Jack Tretton's teat somewhere else.
  • It's hilarious how touchy people on this site are, I've been with the 360 since 05 with two gamertags and yet because I favor the PS4 over the Xbone I am now a Jack Tretton fan. I'll still be buying Splinter Cell, GTA and Batman for the 360.
