Undead Labs has announced that another Title Update for its zombie open-worlder State of Decay is set to roll out today across all regions, bringing a multitude of tweaks and fixes to the XBLA title.

This is the third update for the game and combats crashing and freezing issues brought on by the 'community bug'. "If you were afflicted by the overlarge community bug (freezing, crashing after a few minutes of gameplay, game would not load): You _probably_ will not need to restart your game from scratch. We worked very hard toward that end!" reads the post on Undead Labs' forums.

"I feel honorbound to warn those few of you with really enormous communities, especially if you had a very large community relatively early in the map progression, that you may still be unable to load the game. If you still can't get the game to load after updating, you will need to restart."

Here's a breakdown of State of Decay's Title Update 3:

NPCs

- You can now ask a community NPC to follow you and watch your back. Followers can also accompany you on most non-storyline missions.
- NPCs who have been told to leave your community no longer remain in your Journal and take up bed space.
- Jacob can no longer be selected for a "Mercy Shot" mission before he gives you the “Home Away from Home” mission.
- You can now train members of another Enclave in your Dojo immediately upon construction of the Dojo.

HOMES

- Fixed Snyder Warehouse not repairing vehicles.
- Fixed community NPCs sometimes blocking the door to Snyder Warehouse.
- You can no longer move to a Home site that supports fewer Outposts than you currently control.
- Vehicles are no longer teleported to Home parking spaces at 6:00 AM.

OUTPOSTS

- Outposts are now numbered on the map.
- Added Journal log entry for establishing an Outpost.
- Outpost bonuses to Stockpiles are now retained when the game is restarted.

MISSIONS

- Added Journal log entries for "Memento" mission.
- Changed AI to ensure zombies are present when you get a training mission or a morale mission.
- You are now reminded every 15 minutes, starting at 30 minutes, that your progress is not being saved while in a mission.
- Fixed bug that allowed save spinner to sometimes display during missions.
- Additional polish to "The Law" mission.

MISC

- Fixed an issue where Influence attrition wasn't scaling properly, which led to some Influence exploits.
- Removed references to generators in Fuel description.
- Fixed a terrain issue that caused parked vehicles to catch on fire when restarting the game.
- Fixed getting “Stockpile maximum exceeded” Journal log entry immediately after leaving Mount Tanner.
- Fixed issues that allowed community to exceed the population cap.
- Minor improvements to shadows.
- Fixed some missing subtitles.
- Fixed some floating bushes and grass.
- Fixed some typos.
- Fixed issues in non-English translations.

  • Glad this is getting some many fixes, really look forward to playing it once it goes on sale.
  • Tempted to re download this again and give it another try. Good to see that the Devs are supporting this game as well as they are.
  • Anyone else feel like they paid 1600 MSP to be beta testers for these guys?
  • @4. yep. especially when they promised MP if it sold well enough which according to them it exceeded predictions. only now we find out that it will be in the next game. if id known that beforehand i wouldn't have purchased it. does anyone know when this survival mode i keep hearing of coming out? and if it will be free, 400msp etc?
  • I did wonder on a morale mission, especially at the church when you walk to the specified area and your character says "thats how its done" or whatever and i hadn't killed anything.. Also they need to fix the 'Badass' achievement, 2 playthroughs and still haven't got it. One using Maya and one using Caleb, definitely more than 50 missions etc done with each of them ( i know this as i started using these characters as they became available or Marcus died) either it needs fixing or im doing something wrong!
  • @6 yeah i have the same problem with the badass achievement! driving me insane!
  • I do feel like I was a semi beta tester, but considering how good the game, with all of its flaws, was, I don't really mind. I am very glad the devs are keeping things running much more smooth each time. Love being able to take a community member with me when I head out.
  • @7 Ive read that it needs to be done with Marcus, however if thats the case the Achievement Description needs changing to 'Completed 50 missions or activities with Marcus.' Not 'the same character'
  • @4 : Not really. Did you see how much updates Skyrim got, though it's a retail game with a lots of developpers working on it? When I bought it, the second update was already up and I didn't got any bug yet when playing it. It's an open world game made a little numbers of developpers, and open world often means more bugs to fix. But what bore me are bugs in retails games (aka games by publishers who have a lot of money), like "Hitman Absolution" where the saves were crashing and only got patched one month later. If Square-Enix don't have enough money to beta-test their games, no one will.
  • This is why ms had the patch fee so developers couldn't do this, but at the time same this game would most likely have released as it and then never touched it againé
  • @ 6 & 7. The badass achievement can only become unlocked it you do 50 missions as marcus. Marcus died on me and I started using one of the girls the entire game no achievement. Started over made sure marcus didn't die. 20 mins lata achievement popped.
  • Not true #12. I got the cheevo with Maya, so it's entirely possible to do it with someone other than Marcus.
  • @ 12 and 13 I had heard of others unlocking the achievement with Maya and also Ismail. However i tried with Maya and Caleb and neither time did it work, maybe its glitched for some and not others.
  • I'm glad they are fixing this shit up. I have yet to get the game once it goes on sale for maybe $10, but at least I will get more polished product. It does seem like it had a lot of issues, but normally I don't encounter most of those when I play other buggy games....
  • The makers of game didnt make any secret of it that this was a trial run to see about the possibility of a future bigger and better game. In my opinion its one of the best arcade games I have downloaded but I don't seem to have suffered with some of the problems that others have. Obviously we all want 'complete' games that are not 'broken' on release but there communication with playes and their work on fixes has been unparalleled in my opinion.
  • The problem is that when some peoples see a bugfix list, people think "broken game" which aren't really always the case. I don't think anyone got all the bugs in their play, it's just a report of bugs spotted by several peoples but that don't mean you'll see them during your play. Personally, I didn't found what we could call a real bug (if we except graphical glitches or some textures loading too slow), and I spent like 8 hours on the game.
  • @#10 - But Bethesda at least have the courtesy of giving the DLCs free to the beta testers before they release them to the public. As far as I know, no one had to pay 1600 MSP to beta test Skyrim DLC.
  • @#18 Yeah but how many of us had bugs in Skyrim? STILL have bugs in Skyrim? Oh right me and everyone else. The Litany of Larceny quest is STILL broken and people have know about that since release. Some items are marked as quest items well after the quests are finished. Some quest items can be picked up too early and then the quest can never be finished. There are other things, but seriously how are there still quest glitches in this triple A game that have been known about since before the first post launch patch. *clears throat* On that note it is always nice to see patches, it means people care. If just a couple of letters in the code are off everything can break so games are not so easy to craft.
  • The one thing I wish they would fix is allow us to put racksacks in the vehicles. That way you dont have to go back and forth from place that are along way from your community...that would make even more realilstic in my opinion. other then that this game ROCKS!!! i never had any problems with the game and i had it from day one.
