Let me fix that for you.
"It's gonna take five years until we've stopped churning out crappily prefixed and suffixed versions of the same game with extra costumes and crap because we know the street fighter fans are bloody idiots who'll pay full retail price for the same game plus a small amount of extra content."

#4: You're somewhat right, I noticed there's not much difference in fighters now anyways. Fighter genre kind of died for me when they released too many Mortal Kombat games for the Super Nintendo.

Oul Capcom get a lot of hate on here for sure. Personally im happy about this, the SFIV series has been so succesful it is hard to imagine them bettering it with a new engine in SFV.
Most of th DLC is fan demanded and the subsequent retail releases are to give new players a cheap way of starting (with all of the previous DLC included) while existing customers just need the cheaper download.
People complain, justifiable, about day one DLC and complain when a four year old game gets supported with a tonne of new demanded content.
This is what DLC should be used for!!

I don't get why these games take so long to make. It's not like they're crafting entire worlds or anything like GTA or Tomb Raider or something; just stages and character moves. Should all of that really take five years or more and then justify ten re-releases of the same game, albeit slightly different? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here.

It doesnt take 5 years to create a fighting game. Nowhere above does it say they have actively started to develop it. They have stated in the recent past that they arent working on it though.
Why would they split the series, and userbase, between this and next gen consoles when SFIV is still so popular and the market for next generation users will be limited for the first 2 or so years.
Im sure if SFIV falls of a cliff all of a sudden they will release SFV earlier.

@4 Why are you here? You have critiasised every game in every news feed today? Do you need a hug?
OT: @10 spot on , not once have they stated it is in development, it is purely a business plan.

20 years ago, 4 new characters were paid at the price of a full game, so now I'm pretty happy to get 4 new characters for only 1/4 of the price of a full game (1/8 if you wait until a deal of the week).
I don't really want a SF V, I don't really see the interest, as SF 4 already have most of the characters of each version.

@4 - that's the bloody truth right there. Capcom won't get a penny from me. I'm guessing there will be at least 2 more versions of SF 4 that come out before SF V. And they know people will jump on it in an instant. What a shame

Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition, Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter 2, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Hyper Street Fighter 2 and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HD Remix.
7 variations of the same game doing exactly the same thing, adding new colours to costumes, adding extra characters, adding a turbo function.
Capcom were clearly pulling the wool over our eyes in the early 90's!
Not the first time and again clearly they are going the same route with Street Fighter 4, so far we have had Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4: AE and soon Ultra Street Fighter 4, by my counter we still need 3 more variations, few more characters few more costumes and a turbo function.

apparently you would have prefered it if they called the variations a complete new game, so we would be at SF15 now?
as far as i know, there was now DLC option in the SF2 days so capcom should have just kept the extra content and wait 6 years. the big majority is glad about the ultra release, of course you only hear the moaning wankers, who would prefer to pay 60 bucks for SF5 (which would be the same again with extra content) or 15 for, as i said, the same basically.
if you don´t like, don´t buy it simplemind.

Not at all, i would have preferred one complete version than 7 variations of the same game with tweaks, but thats just Capcom for you.
And your right technology was not as advanced back in the early 90's the Super Nintendo's and Sega Megadrives didn't hold capacities of space to fill with the same stuff every 6 - 12 months nor did they have the concepts of DLC, so they released it on a new cartridge and charged you for the privilege to buy it again.
Also im part of the "big majority" that will buy SF5, just like I bought every other variation of every other SF game dating back to Fighting Street.
So how about you get off your high horse and STFU :-)

SFIV is hugely popular in tournament circles, and you may not think little tweaks and balancing mean much but to the pros it does and Capcom have to be very careful with the balancing.
adding 5 new characters is not just about throwing 5 characters in there, they have to be balanced with the entire existing roster.
adding in a couple of badly balanced characters to an existing tournament fave can destroy a fighting game.

Wait,so you're telling me Capcom is going to spend more than half a year actually making a game? That's pretty damn impressive! I didn't think they had it in them to see anything but a big fat green money symbol!
