I haven't played the original GRID, so can someone please tell me if Destruction Derby mode is anything like the original PS1 game? Man I loved that game.

Taking my copy off Ebay...right now. No more 30 level-cap AND Demolition Derby? This sounds too good to be true! Thank you Codemasters!

Not sure why Codemasters are being lauded for bringing back features that should not have been absent in the first place. If this was an EA game the comments would be far different... plus at least EA would fix the wheel issue
Seems Codemasters earned a lot of internet hugs with their achievement list collaboration, which lead to a strangely generic racing game 'cheevo list , due to what they could actually track in game and not what most people were asking for.

"Not sure why Codemasters are being lauded for bringing back features that should not have been absent in the first place"
I agree minor things like flags etc. were fun in the first one, and should have been implented here right away (I also liked the single-player with it's three distinct styles of racing more than this in Grid 2). Having said that, destruction derby in the first was a great concept, but it wasn't really fully developed-only 1 car and 1 track to drive/crash on.
They tried to make a whole game out of that concept- Dirt Showdown - but that sucked.
With Grid 2 they focused on racing, and racing only. MP in Grid 2 is awesome (SP not so much), but the level cap was reached too soon. Now they change the level cap, add a beloved mode and change minor things like the flag-system FOR FREE. That right there is something that EA would NEVER do, and the reason why CM deserves credit.
It has nothing to do with the achievement list (for which I couldn't care less about)

@9 yes they added these things to make the game more fun for free , but they should have been there in the first place .My post was more aimed at why some of the vitriol that many other games receive due to their publisher being EA or an equal "evil" company yet Codemasters constantly release sub-standard titles with over-priced Day 1 DLC. Yet they seem to do this without comment. Lets not forget their yearly F1 games which rival the FIFA games for being simple cash-in updates on the previous year.
Also my comment about the achievement list was based on them earning internet "hugs" on listening to the players/buyers/market but when it comes down to it ignoring many of ideas due to the fact that cannot track the requirements in-game
Codemasters it seems can do no wrong...

nice ,codemasters is listening to the people just like Microsoft did with their policies.
good news though demolition derby, new maps and a level raise are all we need to keep playing this game.

I still don't get your point. "The internet hugs them..." "CM it seems can do no wrong"... I hated Showdown, hated F1 2012 even more, and was very outspoken about that (as were many people on the web).
"yes they added these things to make the game more fun for free , but they should have been there in the first place " ...says who?
Is a company obliged to repeat the same formula when they make a successor to a game? They did something new with Grid 2, added point to point races, duells, improved graphics and so on. If you liked Grid 1 more, ok (so did I), but Grid 2, out-of-the-box, was a great, fun, way-above-average racer, that was lightyears ahead of Cm failures F1 2012 and Dir Showdown.
With Grid 2 they changed a couple of things, left some things out, if they would have made the same game again people (like you) would say it's a "cash-in" without any innovation...
As for "over-priced DLC"... as opposed to EA or Ubisoft, you gain absolutely no advantage in getting those DLCs in Grid 2 (they are purely collector's stuff), and CM ties no achievements to them (which a lot of companies do just to steal money out of the pockets of "100%ers").
I played Grid 2 since release, don't have a single DLC, and see absolutely no indication that people that bought the DLCs would be faster or better drivers. Grid 2 still is very much about skill.
Again, I really don't see any connection between CM and EA.

@12 I'm not going to continue this conversation as it is evident that is it is going nowhere, you misquote me and seem to ignore all the points I raised whilst pushing the conversation into areas I wasn't even discussing.
I'm glad CM are supporting this game and hope you enjoy all your time with it.

what moron's developers can be at times, they took out demolition derby and le man's races and now they put demolition derby back in because the game didn't do well, this is because developers never listen to the gamers, you don't take out 2 of the best features of a game as people won't like it and now look where we are.....

screw all you whiney 5 year olds. Grid 2 was amazing. New game means new style. If you want the same thing in every sequel, then go play COD. They took some stuff out and put new ideas in. And now they hear that we miss demo derby, they heard all our cries and are giving us a ton of stuff for free. Codemasters is one of the greatest developers out there. And I sincerely thank them for this. I cant wait to for all this to come out :)

@10 I get your point. What CM did to me is the equivalent of on disc DLC. It should have been in the game, but at least they offered it for free and didn't charge you for it so they get some points back.
