Konami Announces Licensed Teams for PES 2009

Today Konami made several announcements regarding some of the licenses they have secured for PES 2009.

The first one saw PES 2009 and subsequent titles become the "Official Football Video Game of Liverpool FC". This is said not only to feature the "most realistic video game re-creation" of a Liverpool team but Konami and Liverpool will also team up on several promotional campaigns. These are said to include digital advertising over at Anfield's LED hoardings and a regular presence in Liverpool's Official Magazine.

The second announcement sees Liverpool's fiercest rivals, Manchester United get the full license treatment as well. The game will feature the most detailed likenesses of the European Champions, and will make full use of the team’s kits and club crests.

Last, but by no means least, Konami have also managed to secure a 4 year deal with UEFA for the Champions League. This years edition will feature the full licensed competition in its entirety including  all elements and attributes of the competition to create an exclusive UEFA Champions League mode within the PES game.

PES 2009 will be available on October the 17th for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

good, the one thing lacking in the games for me was somethin as trivial as the correct names.

nice to see konami finally getting it sorted out. Muppets.

It's been a long time coming. I've always been a FIFA fan and enjoy'd using the right names. The old ones were just laughable with the names, but should be great now that they've got it sorted. Well done Konami. Better late than never

It's not Konami's fault. It's to do with the licenses

konami have had the correct names for about 90-95% of the players for a while now, its just been the club names.
the only worrying thing for me with this announcement is that they announced Liverpool & Utd but no other teams. I thought that if they had the CL license that would include all the teams in that competition. If so, why not mention them all?? The line "This years edition will feature the full licensed competition in its entirety including all elements and attributes of the competition" makes me think that they just have the CL name and tournament structure, grounds, music, etc. Hmm.....

and yes, the licenses have not been Konami's fault. EA has far more money to throw at throw at FIFA, UEFA and the individual leagues for all the correct licenses.

PES ftw!!! it seems they only get 2 or 3 licensed FA Premier League Teams... like i remember 1 was Arsenal and Chelsea, next year Man U, Tottenham and 1 more i think... But who really cares about the names, i enjoy editing and when i finish it looks ok...
Pes its by far superior to Fifa in my opinion with the exception of online, cause last year was horrible.
BTW is this gonnna come out like until next year in april in America (like last year) or in Oct-Dec (like it ussually did)???
