The question is do we have to buy Minecraft all over again, cause that would be horse shit.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:10 PM
Cool me and my friends still play in the same world from when the game first came out. Would be a shame if we couldn't use it anymore.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:10 PM
I'd be willing to pay $5 for the 'upgrade'. The whole price? Fuck noThursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:12 PM
@1 It's Microsoft... what do you think?Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:16 PM
@1 I would say its a buy the 'new' version and get a new achievement list (which might be ok if thats included), but knowing M$ a free Minecraft for any past owners YEAH RIGHTThursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:19 PM
working on, or succeeding? its great that theyre working on it, but it dosent mean it will happen. and i expect a half price reduction for owning minecraft 360 edition. still though, ill happily pay full price IF you can have your 360 worldThursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:20 PM
It's Microsoft, would anyone be surprised if you do have to pay for the full game again xDThursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:29 PM
Achievement City!!!!!!!!Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:35 PM
It looks like they will be charging full retail for Minecraft on XB1. It's $59.99 at Futureshop in Canada. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/miscellaneous-minecraft-edition-xbox-one-xbox-360-e3-game/10255629.aspx?path=f9954a019212dba759f472b82d139c44en02Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:39 PM
Wouldn't surprise me if this is actually more expensive than the 360 version.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:40 PM
I'm glad that they'll be continuing to update both versions, that's great news considering I wont be buying the Xbone until some changes are made with it. It's nice to know that 4J still have gamers in mind :). @9, that'll be a false price, considering you can buy the pc version for about £20, which is a much more superior version then the console port.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 12:46 PM
@9 That's just a placeholder.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:05 PM
At least they'll be able to add more achievements with the funky new system they're putting in place. I kinda lost the will to play after 100%ing the 360 version.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:10 PM
Excellent, I was worried about this!Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:16 PM
A more believable solution is a reduced price to those who have minecraft on 360 and I'm okay with that.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:29 PM
There is no way they aren't going to charge you for it on XBO even if you bought it for 360. I have no problem with that I thoroughly enjoyes MC on 360 and I am sure I will enjoy it even more on XBO.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:34 PM
Pretty sure Microsoft is going to charge us maybe even full 20 or 25 bucks around there. If you really look at it if you bought Minecraft for $20 on Xbox 360 and say bought all the skin packs then buy it again for X-1 you're really getting scammed when PC is only $20.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:35 PM
@13 Same here I loved Minecraft on 360 but after the achievements I lost interest, so if they could keep me playing through Challenges & updating achievements I would rebuy it.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:37 PM
@1 You're buying Minecraft for a different platform. You don't deserve a free copy. I had to pay TWICE for BOTH THE PC AND XBOX version. Two DIFFERENT platforms. Why can't people understand that?!Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:50 PM
@19 I know right. That's like saying, "I already bought an I Pad why are they charging me for the I Pad 2?"Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 01:58 PM
someone on another thread said something to this regard. its like buying a movie on VHS and saying you deserve a free copy of it when its released on DVD. doesn't make any sense, its a different platform, they likely had to recode quite a bit to work on the new hardware as well. I'm buying it again for sure, its such a great game and 4j has been such a great developer I don't mind throwing them the extra cash because I know I'll get my moneys worth.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 02:00 PM
should include the Tower of pimps pack! :DThursday, June 13, 2013 @ 02:16 PM
@20 if you had mincraft pocket on ipad, you dont need to but it gain for your ipad 2. you just sync it across. same if you upgraded your pc, you would transfer it across. not buy a new copy. M$ just trying to get as much out of us as possible.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 02:27 PM
@23 4j still have to port it to x1, and they're not going to do it for freeThursday, June 13, 2013 @ 02:35 PM
Good news, but 4J working on both versions of console minecraft means a larger time gap between Title Updates. @19 Because the two different platforms in THIS article are made by the SAME company, a company that has just been bleeding greed through the teeth recently.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 03:58 PM
Why can't they find a way to connect our Worlds on the 360 version. It sucks having to abandon our worlds to enjoy new features of an update.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 04:31 PM
The new achievements system will work great for this, loved having locked achievements for something to work towards!Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 04:32 PM
4J are possibly the best Developers out there. Constantly working on a game released over a year ago, when others would have left it go stagnant. Shame I won't be getting the new version as I will be off to Sony when I get the money.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 05:03 PM
Look, i'll pay some money but at least give me a damn discount damnit!Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 05:15 PM
Didn't Microsoft say that the. Xbox 1 was too difficult to implement backwards compatability? If they can't do it, I sincerely doubt that 4J will be able to engineer that sort of connectivity.Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 07:16 PM
@23 so if i buy WatchDogs for xbox 360...i should get Xbox One version for free? ill happily pay for Minecraft again...anything to help support the continued work they're doing :)Thursday, June 13, 2013 @ 07:18 PM
@23 also you can sync it across ipad 1 and 2 yea? but thats the SAME game SAME code... this is gonna be a whole new thing that they have to code etcFriday, June 14, 2013 @ 03:53 AM
@1 If we do, then... no, I can't do it. I was gonna go all 'Called it!', but it's a rather unfortunate moment in the history of being screwed over. You have to think; if you upgraded from one PC to another you could redownload Minecraft and play it fine. It's a shame M$ will persist in shafting people even when their console is ridiculously overpriced compared to it's arguably better competitor.Friday, June 14, 2013 @ 04:46 AM
No backwards compatibility means you have to buy the new version. I can't see them doing a Nintendo and allowing people to pay $1.50 to upgrade.Friday, June 14, 2013 @ 09:16 AM
I'm hoping that the skin packs are ported over with it as well...Monday, July 22, 2013 @ 10:01 PM
Some people are fucking stupid. It's a different game, so more than likely you will have to buy the game again. Boo fucking hoo. If you're willing to buy a $500 xbox and bitching about a $20 game, there is something wrong with you

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and Xbox One Edition developer 4J Studios is working on a way to share saves between the two versions of the game.
Should 4J be successful it will mean that the worlds you and your friends have created on Xbox 360 should be accessible when, and if, you upgrade to the Xbox One version of multi-million selling title.
Beyond this, 4J has also said that it intends to continue to update the Xbox 360 version of the game after the Xbox One version’s release, promising continual updates for both platforms.
Announced during Microsoft’s E3 press conference earlier in the week, the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition promises “larger maps for bigger adventures, expanded multiplayer features, and feature enhancements.”
You can watch the announcement trailer below.
