wow i hope far cry 2 is good enough to justify the 3rd one, it probably will beWednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 10:46 PM
@1 I hate you.Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 10:50 PM
@1 wow i really enjoyed the way you made your first post so relevant and imprortant. BTW enjoy your infraction :) FourthWednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 10:54 PM
So does this mean Farcry 2 is going to end in a cliffhanger?Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 10:54 PM
srsly? why do game designers even say this type of thing? it has no value and generally leads me to think of the EA syndrome of pumping out titles as fast as possible to make money. I'm perfectly happy to play Far Cry 2 within the next few months, I don't care if you're planning on a 3rd or not.Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 10:56 PM
What the hell? Why confirm Far Cry 3 when the 2nd isnt even out yet.Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 11:07 PM
@ #7 - It seems to be more and more common these days.Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 11:06 PM
@ #7 Yer enit weird Also @#5 I hope not they do churn em out a bitWednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 11:10 PM
Can't waitWednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 11:11 PM
@#5 Actually I think it's more Activisions policy to release games as fast as possible (3 Guitar Hero games in less then a year).Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 11:26 PM
@#11 Seriously a year O.o? And for my own opinion thi will suck if its out within a year or two as many people would need to play this atleast a year to enjoy and want a 3rd in the rolls.Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 11:35 PM
Wow...I don't know why they would even tell people that when FC2 isn't even out. What happens if Farcry 2 bombs? (It won't but I'm just saying). What if people don't want a third game? Bit of a mistake if you ask me.Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 11:49 PM
Same as Bioshock 3 confirmed to be going through 'the first stages' on the same day Bioshock 2 is confirmed as reality.Wednesday, August 27, 2008 @ 11:50 PM
@11 ViperxSniper Activision and guitar hero? Ubisoft is developing and publishing the Far Cry franchise... Activisions got nothing to do with it.Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 01:02 AM
FarThursday, August 28, 2008 @ 01:03 AM
Far Cry 09, Call of Duty 2k9, Guitar Hero 2011.WTF is everything and everyone catching the EA syndrome???Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 01:13 AM
Sounds good but they better not just start pumping out Far Crys like they are Madden games.Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 02:24 AM
But... The second one isn't even out yet, right? Why aren't they working on making sure it's as great as possible before starting the third one? Also, does any one else find comment #16 a bit disturbing?Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 02:33 AM
spend more time on part 2 and #16, grow up.Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 04:36 AM
Let comment 16 feel like a big man before he has to go back to a school where no one likes him. Anyways, I'm sure that the only work they've done on Far Cry 3 is pre-production designs, storyboards, artwork and the sort of thing that happens long, looong before a game is released. Hopefully. And if I'm wrong, then get those programmers back on polishing Far Cry 2 and making sure the map editor is perfect! I almost want that game more then Fable 2 at this point. Almost.Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 05:03 AM
I wouldn't mind a game in the US ForestThursday, August 28, 2008 @ 06:32 AM
haha @22 Maybe they should wait to see if people really enjoy africa that much before they announce the 3rd being there. I was kind of hoping for another new place. Hopefully this one will beat my expectations.Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 07:27 AM
awesome news. Can't wait for part 2Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 09:09 AM
@ #16 Matthew, I think your attitude is truly disgusting and I hope you get banned completely from using this site and having any further imput to anything that goes on here. Grow up. As for FarCry, this can only be good news. It's going to take them a couple of years to get this on the shelf anyway. I'm thinking spring 2010, so that should give the fans a while to enjoy part 2Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 11:49 AM
They said they were in the PRELIMINARY stages. I didn't see too many people complaining when a Bioshock sequel was announced one month after the first one came out. Stop whining. This is good news, it means the great series will continue!Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 11:52 AM
Matthewmcg360. You are going to be banned, just to let you knows.Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 12:07 PM
Whoo! Another bad game to filter through at the store!Thursday, August 28, 2008 @ 08:32 PM
@#16 matthewmcg360 Infracted. One more comment like that and see what happens...Friday, August 29, 2008 @ 07:53 AM

In an interview with VG247, Far Cry's Creative Director, Patrick Reading told them that Far Cry 3 was already in "preliminary stages" and that the team now had a "commitment to the African setting".
Why you ask? Simple, because it's fresh, new and saves time. He was asked why they originally chose it and he told them they chose it "because we felt that in order to retain the Far Cry brand value, of an exotic, dangerous environment" they needed to chose "a place that maybe people haven’t had a chance to see themselves" and Africa sprung to mind.
Redding also mentioned the possibilities of moving the game to the Antarctic or the Amazon Rain Forest and said it is easy enough to do but it would need something to compel them to do it.
This is all preliminary speculation however so for all we know, it could end up taking place on the moon.
Can't wait till Far Cry 3? Well, there is a little game called Far Cry 2 out before then, so in the meantime, check out our preview from the Games Convention here.
