Liverpool-based independent studio Lucid Games could be looking to announce something during Microsoft's next Xbox event on May 21st, if the developer's Facebook page is any indication.

Lucid Games was formed back in 2011 with ex-Bizarre Creations staff at the helm, comprised of former members cherry-picked from games like Blur, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and PGR 2-4. Rumours have also been circulating that the studio could be partnering up with Rare for a new PGR title.

This latest update from the UK studio indicates that it could be a next-gen project. "So yeah, Mid-May will be interesting for the studio. We have some exciting updates coming. Stay tuned!" reads the Facebook post. The dev also re-posted a teaser image hinting that Lucid's teaser title is a racer with a London circuit. It screams 'PGR 5' if you ask us.

Asked for comment by Joystiq, a Lucid Games spokesperson stated that he "can't say anything at the moment." Bah.

  • Need For Gotham Racing : Most Blurred 2 anyone? All jokes aside, I wouldn't mind a Blur 2 or PGR 5 :D
  • Yeah looks like the London track from PGR. Wouldn't mind playing a PGR game again. Loved PGR3, even though I'm not a race game fan.
  • Def PGR.
  • @2 not too much a fan of the Forza series' simulation style, I too loved PGR, it was just fun to play. Agreed, it definitely looks like London track from PGR (or any other racer really :) ), so here is hoping it is PGR5.
  • Oh please be PGR5.
  • 21st can't come soon enough then microsoft can finally comment on like 5 years of rumour and speculation
  • But Microsoft said the event was gonna be strictly for the Xbox only and all the games were gonna be saved for E3.
  • If they could have invested this much time and money into a new game, cant't they fix the glitchy achievements in Waldo/Wally game. As easy as it is its keeping me from completing it and ive nearly tried all the solutions to fix it.But the sign looks well detailed may look great
  • Midtown Madness 4 please. :-)
  • @8 funny enough, I bought it for $15 from MStore around xmas but have yet to crack it open... if it is more arcade and less simulator, i'll have to try it very soon.
  • Please let it be PGR 5. I Really liked the other PGR games.
  • @2&4 yes it's London. Does it look like a track. No it doesn't. It's just a picture of a street in London. Actually it prob isn't even. Red phone boxes are rare now. London track would be good.
  • A racing game at launch for a new console. YAWN.
  • #7 No they never. MS said they would continue at E3. A console reveal with no games mentioned makes no sense.
  • There again a console reveal with no console.... :)
  • I want it to be PGR, I've been following this speculation for awhile now in the NeoGAF thread concerning it, but I hope people aren't setting themselves up for disappointment. It could be a Forza spin-off, it could be a new IP, or it could even be nothing MS related at all. Still... *crosses fingers for PGR*
  • I would love a new PGR. Really enjoyed the past titles.
