FIFA 09 New Feature: Adidas Live Season

FIFA 09 New Feature: Adidas Live Season
Written Wednesday, August 20, 2008 by Joe Robinson

EA have released details about the new feature coming to FIFA 09: Live Season.

Sponsored by Adidas, Live Season will pull real-life data from 6 football leagues, and apply that to the in-game players on a regular basis.

The individual players will then have their in-game stats altered based on their real-life performance.

The service will be a premium feature, and so will carry a fee, but EA have announced that players can enjoy this new feature for free initially during the entire 2008/2009 Football season.

“This is an ambitious and completely unique feature that has never been attempted before for football videogames,” said Andrew Wilson, Vice President & Executive Producer for the franchise.

“The game will feel and play differently each week. With Adidas Live Season if Ronaldinho has a great match on the weekend you’ll feel the difference when you pick up the controller as his in-game attributes increase.”

A demo for FIFA 09 will be available on September 11th, but no final release date has been given.

This sounds great, but it's going to mean that less people are going to choose a team further down in the league in favour of one of the top ones who are performing better in real life, and they won't get the same satisfaction of levelling up the teams yourself

I wonder if the players will be able to flop and fake mortal injuries, then get up seconds later. Maybe there will be rioting crowds full of idiots with flares, soccer players with one name trying to pick up trannies, and overrated and overpaid 'legends' coming to America to pose for pictures and not make any impact for the sport.

Way to go, soccer.

None of you will be excited for this feature once they start charging.

I always kind of hoped they'd do this in American football games since it makes it seem more realistic, and now they're putting it in football/soccer whatever you want to call it. It does add a level of reality to it and I think it'll be a nice feature.

All I want know is if it will have the same lame ass achievement list as the majority of fifa games. Some creativity and diversity in that area is sorely needed.

It'll be good if it stays free - there is NO WAY I'm going to pay for this feature....

I just hope they introduce a 'Be A Pro' season mode...

Peace

Nice grammar.

I do have mild interest in this sport. This announced feature simply doesn't make me want to get this game.

Nice. It's dynamic player ratings, but, based on the actual performace of the players in the real game. The line is being blurred between video games and real life. Very cool.

to all idiot yanks its not soccer its football because you use your foot to kick a ball get it football not soccer i dont see why nfl is called football as you throw or run the ball and very rarely kick its really annoying when especially yanks say soccer. Football was invented before 'american football' so stop changing it to soccer and on to topic the game looks decent i also hope they change players mid season who transfer in jan window as whats the point in having realistic stats for a player and he now plays for a different club and realistic injurys if a player is out for 6 months they should also be out for six months in game time would be cool also a option if you dont want to update

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
