Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 03:39:28 AM

It's funny. As soon as I saw 'Rock Band' in the headline, I knew there would be people complaining about the choices and suggesting crappy bands. I see plenty of whiners, and AFI and In Flames have been mentioned, so that covers both points.

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 03:46:27 AM

The Duran Duran And Devo songs are actually pretty good.

I don't know why the band from American Mall is in rock band though.

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 04:07:46 AM

I'm with #15, but just because someone says that they want to play their favorite bands' songs, doesn't mean their whining. And, AFI and In Flames being a crappy band is totally your opinion. So it'd be much appreciated if you'd keep your bitchy opinion to yourself. I'm not a fan of either mentioned, but I'm not going to call them crap. It may be offensive to some people. And just to let you know Kyanite, you're whining just as much as the people that want their 'crappy' bands on a video game. So, the end result is me telling you to shut up.

I have never seen so many dumb ass people in my life. I guarantee most of you idiots are like 15. If only there was a way to make things on the internet 18+. Nobody realizes just how awesome Devo really is. It is hilarious that Disney did those "kid bob" re-recordings cause nearly every song has some sort of sexual innuendo haha.

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 09:04:42 AM

AFI sucks. I'm sorry. Punk rock lost its awesomeness being a punk became socially acceptable. And I'm happy to see songs chosen for reasons other than they were high on the pop charts within a year or would are really tough to play on guitar. What makes the DLC successful is that it is eclectic. Metal that's challenging one week, and stuff your step dad can karaoke to the next.

The key to having good taste in music is listening to a lot of different stuff. And I don't mean both My Chem Romance and Linkin Park. Listen to some classics. Don't disregard this stuff because it's older than you and has synths. It's older than me too. I thought my generation acquired a taste for 80's music from Vice City.

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 09:36:43 AM

Well just to clear up some of everyones whining, In Flames is most likely going to be DLC when they release the Madden 09 OST Packs (the song being The Mirrors Truth). AFI and Rise Against are going to be in RB2, so that covers another base. Hear me out, I listen to death metal 90% of the time, but 80's synth deserves to be on this as much as thrash does, just because it's another stepping stone in music history. Besides, watch the video for Duran Duran's "Girls On Film". Topless mudwrestling ftw.

there arent going to bring any really great dlc cause theyll just save it and use it in rock band 2 why are they gonna use amazing tracks for $2 download when they can use it to try and beat guitar hero (who seem to be the ones singing artist and tracks left right and centre) and sell it for $180 whatever rb2 will be so i dont expect anything great from now till rb2 hope im wrong

just out of curiousity, i wonder if the people at harmonix would ever like browse different forums to see what songs the should try to implement into their games. Idk it just seems that the way they select their new songs is kinda random

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 11:54:18 AM

Harmonix does indeed pay attention to their forums where people talk about the bands/song they want to see. But they have a huge group that discuss and decide what is going to come out.

They just had 2 weeks in a row of hard rock and Metal songs come out, they had to do this.

People don't understand marketing.

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 01:13:52 PM

@ 47 and 48: On the "Community" section of rockband.com, there is a poll for DLC genres, with 22% towards classic rock and 21% towards metal.

Couldn't be happier for Duran Duran!

And gotta toss in the acknowledgement to #15 for saying AFI sucks, lol. And yes that may just be my opinion but damned if I'm not gonna voice it. My taste is broad enough to warrant my judging. And if you're offended by it, boohoo

@48: Killer username :P and good job on understanding marketing principles :)

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 03:01:35 PM

#17 - You seem way to politically correct. It's like you're scared to offend anyone by voicing your opinion. So you don't like it when people voice theirs.

#15 - AFI does indeed suck

Those tracks are amazing. People seem to be too narrow minded musically these days. "I ONLY WANT 1 BAND THAT I LIKE COS THEY SHOULD LISTEN TO ME AND ME ALONE LOLOLOLOL."

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 03:57:46 PM

Wow guys, reading all those comments, it makes me sad to be a member here. Just because you don't like the band doesn't mean they are garbage. Also, if you want AFI, Dragonforce, and , please don't post. Just because they don't include your favorite band every week doesn't mean it is bad DLC. I bet Duran, Duran would outsell AFI or Dragonforce anyways. The general populace that buys a ton of DLC are at least in their 20's, because they have money.

Saturday, August 16, 2008 @ 04:02:03 PM

Personally, my opinion on the whole 'bands suck' issue is this...

Don't like the bands, don't download the songs. Not everything is going to be to your liking. That's life. Not everyone wants to play the same things, so bitching about how bands and song choices 'suck' is pretty immature.

I just love how alot of people here just want to bitch and complain all the time. At least the folks that put Rock Band together have given you songs consitantly, unlike the ones at Guitar Hero. I love Devo myself, although Whip It would have been a better song in my mind (a classic), or maybe Snowball. I also like Duran Duran...

Something I would love to see, and yes, I am an old fart, so you'll be surprised by this. I'd love to see some MSI come through. Yeah, they are pretty hard with

I didn't weigh in on the songs that are this week's DLC.

I haven't played Rock Band and I don't play Guitar Hero, but it's cool to see Devo and Duran Duran. I'm not very familiar with either band beyond their hits like "Whip It", "Rio", and the amazing "Hungry Like the Wolf", but it's still cool to see those two bands on the list. I have never heard of The Janitors, so I plead the fifth.

hmmm its a strange selection but I can't complain, they're trying to appeal to a wide audience as it would seem. I also think they are succeeding as well, now if they could get classical music then the (even) older generations would be in on this action.

rock band sucks...!

Ive just dld the Roadrunner and the Disturbed packs and they suck!

The charts are much more boring that guitar hero's and the difference between the difficulty levels is awkward (easy and medium are just too simple for anyone (even on the more difficult songs) and the hard is way harded... (i perfected inside the fire by disturbed the first time i played it but can't nail it on hard...

I just can't stand the people who come in here to say "OMGWTF ROCK BAND SUCKS I'VE NEVER PLAYED IT BUT IT SUCKS ANYWAYS AND SO DOES GUITAR HERO". Really annoying, as there's no point in coming to this post if it doesn't relate to you. And if you've never played the games, congratulations. Quit taking up post space. To all the people who have said they wanted Tool on here, I'm with you all the way, but we know how Tool is about marketing and their beliefs as far as media is concerned, so I don't ever see that happening. At least the producers have kept up their promise and we've had a constant stream of DLC, unlike a certain HMX competitor.

I still think it is funny that a lot of people don't realize there was rock music before the turn of the millennium. Sure, it may not be the latest in screamer rock, but it was rock. And the thing I love about Rock Band is that they have rock stuff from the 60's all the way to the current year. Sure, Rolling Stones and Devo may not be what you want, but as I said before, someone wanted it or they would not have put it out. Rock does not equate into Tool, Korn, Sublime and Incubus only, you know.

However, I do like some of the music by all of them, so don't think I am a hater of their music. Just pointing out that rock has been around longer than the past 10 years.

As for the possibility of MSI being one of the songs they pull off of Madden, I say cool. Even if it is not one o
